Would be nice and would add another roster to the PVP.
That way its not 2 on 1 because I noticed they do that in there.

No thanks, PvP is messy enough with 3 factions as is and this would only make that worse and extend queue times at the same time. Now if they were to implement a fourth nation and make it so it's 2 nations vs another 2 (so the standard two teams, but keeping the nation "lore" or whatever), I'd be all for it.
Besides, the storyline will not even allow it, given the fact until Heavensward you can't even access it (and the storyline gives really extraordinary circumstances for even being able to go there). Ishgard also doesn't have a Grand Company and doesn't rely on adventurers like the other city states do (it has a professional army of knights and DRGs), which is another nail in that coffin I'm afraid.
Bad idea since players need pass 2.55 storyline to even get access to Ishgard.
Again as I and Felis said Ishgard doesn't even have a Grand Company for this as they're not even part of the Eorzean Alliance (okay, they do join the Alliance at the very end of the expansion, but they haven't formed a GC and probably never will, given the fact they don't even need one given the fact that they're the only city state with a standing army rather than relying on small militias, sellswords or adventurers which is the real reason for the existence of the Grand Companies).
Ishgrad also has their own internal and external problems to worry about than sending single-minded adventurers to participate in wargames squabbling over some stupid Allagan Mcguffins.
How would it not allow it? the gate has been there in dragon head but no access, as I told other poster who is saying the people who start can become a ishardian?
I say when you beat the content, then able to get to ishgard you have a option to, if they are allowing housing in ishgard later then it would be nice to have a grand company there also.
You could do it, it just wouldn't be a GC in the strictest of sense and would have to be base in the areas non-ishgardians have access to
think a french foreign legion type deal
hell maybe we could take that comparison all the way, and people who complete the GC quests for it have the opportunity to apply for ishgard citizenship
That's how 1v1v1 pvp is supposed to work. One team gets ahead, the other two drag em back down to catch up. That's not really ganging up on one team. You make it sound like GCs are colluding.
I seen it happen more than once, its funny cause it seems the flames beat down gridania and limsa then they join together cause they can't win.
its always like that from the beginning to the end and shouldn't be like that at all, ive seen red totally ignore yellow and then go back to their post.
so that whole 1v1v1 never happens its two on one each time I pvp I have seen it once where all 3 went at it thats about it.
other than that one time. its funny cause its little unfair when I notice that but I still get my points.
All I am saying is even out playing field when that happens, not one red and yellow killing 1 guy and just ignoring everything else.
Hell put monsters on the field then.
Have you even seen the final cutscene? Ishgard is in no shape to do anything. SE needs to first balance PvP as I'm tired of joining a full DPS party.
Oh it's this again.
Not sure if i would want to join depending on the effects the truth of their history will do since I found their religious shtick and fuedal system more interesting than other grand companies and if they become "free" like the other city states that would be very boring.
Why do people still believe this given we're looking at 3.1 later this year which no doubt will bring more Story quests along with whatever else it brings. We're nowhere near the end of the expansion, just like how 2.0 didn't end until 2.55. Ishgard, even after the current Story quests stopped, is still embroiled in all the same issues as the first Story quest. There's just fewer NPCs to help/hinder us in future questing. Does this mean Ishgard will never be a starting city? Maybe, maybe not, but that's not going to be revealed until 4.0 when we really will be past the end of the expansion.
Exactly, we're nowhere near the end of the Story. The three nations were enjoying relative peace when the adventurers started filtering in. Ishgard is far from peaceful, it simply doesn't have the resources to see to the well being of adventurers much less it's own citizenry. Again, we likely won't see Ishgard as a starting city until it's own story is resolved and it's enjoying enough relative peace to reasonably host adventurers. I honestly think we'll see Revenant's Toll become a starting city long before Ishgard ever does.
Not sure if anyone added this, but there is one reason I seriously doubt Ishgard will ever give us the option of a GC; the Four Houses. I can't remember where, but I'm pretty sure one of the things heavensward was going to add was picking one of the 4 houses to side with instead of a GC. This can offer, if done right, 4 stories to enjoy as you move up with a selected house. I'm willing to bet house Fortempts may even offer a certain shield as a max level reward.
You get our allegiance to Ishgard, PVP is still itself, and possibly actual story and insight to the other houses. Sounds like a win to me.
The thread is about grand companies, no starter cities.
Ishgard an Revenant's Toll can't be a starter city because they don't fulfill the rules for it.
1. A starter city need guilds for DoM and/or DoW classes that beginn at lv 1
2. There have to be lv1 enemies outside the city.
That's the thing, though, the Companies are the standing adventurer armies of the starter cities, tasked with keeping the borders of their nations safe from Imperial incursion. Ishgard is pledged with fighting their own unique threat and doesn't have the resources to commit to that and the Garleans. Once the dravanians are put down 'for good' then they might be able to, but at that time they may as well be a starting city if they're going to go so far as also have a Company. And adding an area or two for low level quests wouldn't be so hard, we've yet to see the lands directly under Ishgard.
