Was there even a ff14 xbox one even in the works?? As someone who played on the x-box and the 360, and ff11 on the ps2 and 360. I wouldn't want this game on the x-box one. Mostly because how underhanded xbox live is. It really nickle and dimes you to no end. Unless it changed, you pretty much can't do anything on a xbox consule w/o x-box live. And for $60 a year it just not worth it.
I recall the early days on the 360 where goid was just a bonus and not needed. Now u need it to do pretty much anything. And even microsoft stated ff11 was a one time thing because x-box live was still new and ff11 was a way to get people to buy a 360.
It will never happen. MS wants separate servers and Yoshi-P said no.
well then again microsoft! if they was not blind enought there could been toons of new and old player who will play from xbox.
But its all about the money!
Good.

Why do they call it an Xbox One?
It's old news. Yoshi already mentioned the issue a year ago. He blamed MS for wanting exclusivity on FFXIV and he said FFXIV on Xone won't happen unless MS changes their stance which is unlikely.
He didn't even answer the question. There's really no need to hide the truth behind "business", they want exclusive servers and SE is not willing to do that.
Phil Spencer should run for office after sidestepping two issues that prevent this from happening, and pretending like they don't exist.
1. MS doesn't allow cross platform play on anything except MS platforms...aka Windows. SE would have to segregate Playstation and Apple users to get Xbox One players.
2. Microsoft drives all subscription games through XBL requiring both an XBL sub and the actual game sub to be paid through MS, so SE would not have a diect relationship with subscribers. Cash shop items and additional services would have to go through the XBL service also.
Phil neatly avoided any of this in his minced words in the linked interview...
Microsoft wants a piece of the Sub/Shop pie and segregation.
Yoshi refuses to segregate players and likely doesn't want to let Microsoft have free money from their work.
I also understand that in addition to MS wanting separate servers and wanting everything to go through XBL, MS would also require players to have a gold XBL account and SE doesn't want there to be any additional charges above the game cost and sub fee to play
M$ = Greed that's all :P
Good! Hold your ground SE! <3
because you walk up to it and immediately turn around and walk away! teehee!
but yeah he (yoshi-p) had already made it sound it was highly unlikely to go to any xbone platform. Since i don't own one i honestly didn't pay much attention to the finer details :P
Also upon reading that article, that guy can sure spin a tale >.> but hes still 1000 years away from blizzard dev powa! :)
The 360 version of FFXI only required an Xbox live silver account so there wasn't an additional fee. There was also no segregation of players either so if they allowed it before why are they acting like this now? This guy says "its business" but its bad business in my opinion.
MS's stance on cross-platform play was a bit different then, I guess? They were dabbling in having it between PC and 360 with stuff like Shadowrun, which failed miserably. After THAT is when they tried to sweep the whole idea under the rug and segregate everything so as not to give PC players an unfair advantage... or something.
Yea saw this article on gamespot also. Microsoft trying to spin it in a way that makes SE look like the bad guy for XIV not being on the xbox one when it really the other way around.
If they haven't decided at this point, it's probably never going to happen. They have been trying to release this on the 360/One since 2.0 and it's been the same thing since then. Microsoft wants a cut of the profits, segregate the servers and require a Gold account on top of an already existing subscription fee.
Yoshi should stop trying to negotiate with Microsoft at this point. Until Microsoft changes their rather archaic business decisions, I doubt they are going to change their stance any time soon.
givin that they are reforming the platform for xbox one we might see the stance change on the part of MS. ofcourse we probably wont but who knows
It's really how funny when I read on a famous Windows website an article about FFXIV which implies that the absence of FFXIV from Xone may be from SE's part and Yoshi team. They also did not closed the window for the possibility that the game may appear in Xone later.
It has nothing to do with Yoshida or SE, it's just that Microsoft either wants exclusive servers for their console, or for PC to be separated from PS4 and merged with Xbox One instead (obviously not going to happen). Microsoft has been like this since the beginning of time, Sony is always open to the idea of multiplatform games, as is Valve. Microsoft? Nope, they're against it as if all the consoles worldwide will explode if they did so.
As far as I'm concerned, Microsoft's got no leverage here. Sony got in on the ground floor with PS3/4. I guess it's going to take MS realizing their dudebro FPS base is unsustainable in the long run (i.e. there's only so many Call of Duty/Halo copycats out there) for them to change their mentality.
The Xbox One (Down Payment) is so hell bent on nickle and diming every thing that they really don't deserve ANY SE titles in my opinion but at least single player titles with out or optional online modes don't need gold.
FF14 how ever should NEVER be given to those cash grabbing rats. SE said that Sony couldn't ask PS+ subscriptions for FF15 and they're like "Yea ok, not like it's required on PS3 anyway" while Microsoft is like " But I'm the GREAT MICROSOFT! How DARE you not meet my demands!" and Yoshida proceed to leave negotiations since there were none.
I feel like this only happened because Microsoft was desperate to do anything and everything to get a people on board with buying Xbox 360 since it was so new at the time. I'm sure if SE tried to bring FFXI to 360 later during its life cycle it would of never happened.
I'm honestly surprised it was even considered since there's probably less than 1000 xbox 1s in use in Japan.
Do japanese developed games even come out on the xbox one? I heard that almost nobody played the xbox/xbox360/xboxone in Japan.
I read about it the other day. I'm sad because I had hoped really hard that it would come to Xbox One, since it's my primary gaming console (I play FFXIV on PS3). Originally, it was that Microsoft wanted the game to have servers specific for Xbox players, but now, it's "business".
It'd be nice if Microsoft would play nice with everyone else, but if they wanna be a special snowflake they can go melt in the heat alone.
Good. I don't want to play the game with Xbox users.
Right, nor is it required on games that are completely free to play such as Warframe. From what I understand it also isn't required on any game. It's a developer's choice whether or not to include it, though not including it on a payed for game likely means that a developer has to provide servers instead of using PSN itself.....
XBL on the other hand is absolutely required to play any game online on xbox consoles, regardless of what steps the developers may want to implement....
Square Enix is the only Japanese developer/publisher I know of that releases games on Xbox consoles. Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III are both being released on it. However, I'm pretty sure it is just to account for the massive Xbox crowd in western territories more than anything else. More profit than just releasing it on one platform after all.
