We appear to have lost a lot of armor

I had already noticed that we lost a lot of dye options on various armors (cotton actons for example went from like six possible colors to two counting undyed), but we seem to have lost a lot of options as well. . .

Some examples:

Previously, we had hempen, cotton, canvas slops. Because these synths used straps and there aren't versions in the patch notes, I'm pretty sure there are no non-dated versions of these now, but we have linen and woolen slops instead.

Before, same deal, hempen cotton canvas and velveteen cowls, now just linen and woolen cowls only it looks like.

I am not bringing this up to whine, but I would like to know if I am indeed correct about this, what kind of future changes can we expect? Are some of the missing recipes and dye options planned to be released with 1.19a or perhaps b? I've been trying to get equipment for some lower level new player friends and I've just found that almost across the board there aren't really many or even any options. I'm trying to find pants for my level 20 Thaumaturge and I am completely at a loss. I can't seem to find any craftable pants with any mage stats at all at the moment.

Hopefully I'm crazy and completely missing something but I've been looking for a while now.

It does seem like a lot of armor was lost. I was trying to find some gathering equipment for sub-35 DoL and couldnt really find anything

Kinda surprised no one seems to care about this. We'll rant all day about how new players supposedly can't level up any more but it's all good if they don't have gear options?

Its the start of a revamped crafting system and it looks like there is more visual progression. For example there are Half-robes early on and later levels you can wear the full robes. Undoubtedly more gear variety across all ranks is on the way, and this initial revamp is testing the waters of player trends/economy and the like before they figure out how to proceed.

I think the new recipes are just the first half of the planned, there will be more released over time when the Dated converted to Materia to avoid confusion.

It just seems really bizarre that they're starting with such a minimal amount of gear.

Anyway I'm hoping a community rep will see this and kindly let us know what's up, seems like a pretty major thing.

We still have a lot of gear if you count Dated gear. All the buyable gear is still concentrated in the higher ranks because no one made low level gear before, so it seems like there's a lot less variety in the low levels.

I noticed too but I wondered if I was crazy. XD
I hope a lot of the old gear gets re-added soon as new recipes. :3

Really hoping this is in 1.19a. It'd be a shame if they trimmed all those different skins we had for gear and didn't use them again. One of the things I was most excited for just before 1.19 hit was being able to make a Cotton Aketon with a cool color scheme without jumping through hoops to get the parts made, and I'm very confident anyone who has seen the steel cuirass (blue) set is just dying to dye their cobalt stuff blue.

What I'm seeing is, among new gear, far less variation in what you can choose to wear.

Everything seems to be getting shoehorned in to Magic OR War OR Hand OR Land. ie: You can't choose to be a Thaumaturge, Goldsmith, Fisher and Pugulist and wear the same gear.

Actually, Thaumaturges can't wear the new shirts at all any more... *cry*

So in the end, each class is forced to pick between only two or three types of clothing.

Most of the goldsmith accessory recipes are gone, too. The goldsmith NPC store still sells the dated stuff...

though to be fair if you were actually looking for stats that mattered for each job you couldn't wear the same stuff for all those classes before anyway, it was just that the stats barely mattered.

I want to be able to make new jewlery... but I can't. >_<

Pft - stuff the stats. I care about APPEARENCE. But even if the gear wasn't optimal before, I could still wear it. Now, if I want to wear something, I HAVE to play a specific class type to a specific level first. ;_;

Yea, I care a lot about appearance as well, but at the same time this gives more value to it by making you get more creative with what is available. Also keeps you looking a bit more like your class, I think in time, as the game grows and there's a larger selection of armor that won't be such a big issue. I'm just surprised that we lost a lot of stuff that was just easy reskins this update.

Well, yes there are positives too. I'm just a little frustrated about what I've lost.

With a little time and more exploration on what is available, I'll probably get over it. >_>

That and, for me, it's pretty much the main reason I'm leveling gladiator.

My girlfriend was :( when I told her the pink canvas was removed.

Also, Dodoskin Pot Helm is made with sheep leather. Just sayin'.

To the OP it works like this:-

Veleveteen gear (lvl 36) has been replace by Linen Gear (lvl 38)
Canvas Gear (lvl 28) has been replaced by Veleveteen Gear (lvl 26)

What I want to know though is where are the new craftable shoes and gloves suitable for mages SE ?

The only thing that comes close are the undyed Mahogony Patterns and they aren't really mage boots.

Please consider adding Felt Slippers/Shoes and Felt Ringbands/Gloves, im sure mages aren't the only class that are missing armor pieces, would be nice if you actually designed full gear sets.

A friend made me some Leather Ringbands. Armbands, all classes, optimal level 26, defense 16 and magic accuracy +3. 3 magic accuracy might not be much, but it IS the gloves slot.

This isn't really much good for a lvl 50 con though, granted its better than nothing but now that def really matters we do need gear that is optimal for our level.

Ah, understandable. I haven't really adapted myself to what matters in end-game yet honestly, I've just been trying to find the few things that even have actual relevant stats, and even that has been extremely hard to find.

You have Boarskin Ringband of Element, which boost Elemental potency. The Circlet now also boosts Elemental potency. Just FYI I sold a lot of Electrum Monocle (Not at 80 USD!), Boarskin Ringband of Elemental and Wand of Elemental (non-dated).

What's up with there being no mage shoes post 1.19? Are they plans for mages to have shoe past level 40 that don't come from darkhold.

I'm kind of upset that they made dyes add stats. I was hoping dyes to be for aesthetics. :( Now everyone is frakin' red. >< I hate red.

well i hear they are planning on giving us manikin's for our gear. that would seem to suggest we will have the choice for different gear for each class. and not just be shoehorned into DoW/DoM/DoH/DoL

Mahogany Pattens (undyed) + Magic Potency Materia = Profit. I ditched my Warlock Pattens.

a lot of ppl in-game,return player notice about this as well but it s funny that until now this thread being created. The only valid explain I can come up with is only half of the recipe had been add, if you take a note, you ll notice GSM recipe lack a lot of recipe, CUL have only a few new recipe.

About DoH and DoL gear I really cant complain but the lack of Smithy's gloves & Thighboots at mid and low lvl, atm in-game there are only lvl 42 and lvl 48

Me too! Especially since all the new gear has a level requirement, you can't use it a few levels under to patch the missing equipment. :s
