What I Found When I Clicked Last...

I wonder how many people have clicked the Last button to see what people were posting back when the first posts were being put up in the Forums so long ago. Among the things people were talking about game upgrades, Early Access to the PC version of the game and of all things, buying an HDTV.

Looking at these old posts, I can't help but wonder how many of the people who put up these early forum posts are still playing the game.

There are posts even older than that, there are still archives of the 1.0 forum some of links in my signature go back to 1.0 archive. Community was far more involved back then in what they wanted for change in tha game.

Less complaint more suggestions, more active feedback.

You're saying 1.0 posts were far more suggestive? No wonder a whole team had to get fired.

Looking back, the forums were alot friendlier with fair, constructive feedback. ^_^

You can also see this on the XI forums too in a way. More suggestions, actual discussions. If something is suggested that people don't like, they give calm and reasonable reasons as to why and how it wouldn't work.

...Unlike the XIV forums, where if you remotely mention XI or any sort of suggestion to improve XIV, people whip out pitchforks and torches, tell people to "gtfo and quit" lol Give a suggestion that'd work and is reasonable? I'm sure others have noticed it as well, if the topic isn't about changing darkside's graphic, plushies or spending real money in the mogstation, people will bash anything anyone says, even if it's a good idea and starts off in a calm discussion. Sure shows that the XIV community cares more for plushies and spending money on things that should/used to be in game for free, rather than the overall quality of XIV itself lol

I'm still here, although I think the forums are slowly causing me to fall into darkness. Maybe I'm already evil incarnate and don't know it yet.

Can't disagree with this. Back in 1.0, if there an inventory problem like there is today, they would have just doubled everyone's inventory for free until they got it sorted out. (they actually did)

Today, they ignore it, offer vague promises of a coming fix and then point to the cash shop where you can buy extra retainers. :(

So its not just the forums that have gone downhill... but then again I guess they are just reacting to what 'people' want. AND PEOPLE WANT MORE PLUSHIES!

With the increased focus on the item store and Yoshida's comment about F2P trending, I'm honestly wondering if they are just silently using their resources to move towards a F2P setup, primarily at SE's mandate. The preorder campaign on the newest Dues Ex game indicates SE is trying to choose what will make them the most money without understanding their source material, and that kind of thinking is what put the company in danger in the first place. Even if Yoshida has his heart in the right place (which I have no doubt), we're still dealing with the same SE that gave us FFXIII and FFXIV 1.0. Yoshida seems awfully restrained, and I'm wondering if SE's upper management has anything to do with it.

They were also desperately trying to not get shut down then.

Don't worry I'm sure if/when people revolt against any sort of DLC focused F2P shift. SE will be more than happy to "Tanaka" Yoshida and let him take the blame for customers outrage. Poor Tanaka, got martyrd for 2.0.

Not a whole lot has changed. We still have entitled snowflakes, trolls and about 5% threads are actually useful. (This number would increase to ~80% if we combined all the duplicate topics)
