I lurked a bit looking for a thread like this. but didn't find it.
There's a lot of praising and complaining going on right now regarding 1.19. this is why i wanted to make a thread where people would list their personal positives and negatives of the patch, so the developers wouldn't get confused as to what REALLY needs to get fixed, or what REALLY needs to stay. and so we could have our thoughts in a more organized manner.
it would be nice if you could also put them in order from the !!!MOST IMPORTANT! to the !minor nuisance when it comes to complaints.
Here are mine:
Positives:
!!!Increased difficulty, more aggressive monsters and better placing of said monsters
!!!Materia system makes each piece of gear important and makes customization very interesting and original
!!!More customization for Mouse and keyboard controls improves it GREATLY! (by about 1000%!)
!!The experience linking system makes battling and grinding more interesting and challenging
!!The content introduced is very well made and the grand companies give more personality to each nation.
!!CHOCOBOS!
!!Better rewards from quests and leves. and the new leve allowance system works like a charm
!!The game is generally more fun and addictive
!!the search for materia catalyst will skyrocket gathering classes
!more inventory space!
!new music is fantastic
The negatives
!!!The changes to crafting recipes and the way such changes are implemented has made the in-game economy very confusing. the market wards have gone insane with dated items (at least in besaid)
!!the rewards for the GC levequests is absurd. 40 seals for a 15min levequest
sooo... those are my personal points....yeah i know i only had two complaints, but that's all that has bugged me so far.
so yeah... i'm curious to know what other problems have people encountered. although the reception has been pretty good so far...

good parts:
chocobo's (a must have as ff game,even if no breeding,still a good start)
more inventory space
deciding which side we stand for (GC),seeing it as atleast a bit bound to story
negative parts
screwing the crafters (jewellery recipes anyone?, tool lvl too important now, 3 times more outfits duo limitation changes on crafteroutfits(not lvlwise but favor-wise), and much much more,but there are other threads for it)
airship way to expensiv (not everyone runs around with 10m+)
overpushed mobspawns (gathering is a pain in some terrains , 10 mites in place? stealth works,but its useless if you find a mining and botany spot in one place.. you have to slowmotion away for minutes,then change class,stealth again,walk back)
fightingclasses way to limited in low-midlvl range, soloing kinda impossible(with fitting /new/materia'd outfits),skillqueue gone,etc etc..
materia system screwed, the balls dont even stack, got 1 mule +retainer (1 atm) full with all kinds, not even the same type stack (yes +10 vits dont stack),so.. 1k+ space needed,kinda intense
catalysts ..happens way to rarely ,even as t5 fisher on a t2 spot..
the supply tasks, kinda a joke.. no need to explain more on that,not going to drop expensiv items for a dime.
many more n new bugs (materia-menu-freeze as example)
well so far, a totally disappointing patch, fixable,but they shouldn't wait days/weeks to do that. -

The Bad:
#1 above all else, the powerleveling fiasco.
No queuing of skills
Everything linking with everything sucks. It should be enemies of like-kind.
Some restrictions on armor don't make much sense -

hello? thats what crafter feel about outfits (its a kinda harsh puzzle atm,just to get halfway outfits together,for all kinds of craftingclasses) and yes,this includes new and old recipes
and once more, all parts of the community have their own opinion, its not that you must like it,but you must respect it,this doesn't make any part of the community bad,or worse. keep in mind, this game is changing for getting paid.if we don't open our mouth now,and stand to our opinions,then they get a harsh wakeup if they start charging again.want that? i don't.
so leave us to our opinions,and leave us express them, as long as we have a slight chance to improve the play-ability for all kinds of players.fanbois alone,wont be able to keep the game alone,it takes more then that. -

Sadly, the current forum consists almost solely of those kind of people.
When it comes to the game's future, this patch has had no adjustments that will not ultimately help it in creating a path there. There are a few missteps, but in the grand scheme of things said missteps are still less work to balance than what they had to work on before. Just like balancing the EXP rates was much easier once they made it a static ratio instead of random.
I can't argue against uninformed opinions, but I can argue for facts. Come at me. -

bad:
Companies seal reward is to low, for DoW and for DoH and DoL
chain exp is simply to much, ppl can group and get lvl up to quick which make the low lvl NM, dungeon, Gear are useless
no various chose of low and mid grade armor neither the high lvl one
dyes is limit to some recipe and not all of them
note: out of those bad thing, I am actually enjoy this patch, even I lost 90% of my gear simply cos I cant use em due to lvl restrist and have to remake most of thing, but I am enjoy it. The market is now like the market when the game first start, if any of you think the price if to much please help me do 2 thing on all server:
1.dont buy or make any "Dated" gear
2. set shop with the new recipe and take back the control of the market or the only player that suffer are DoW and DoM and not us DoH and DoL -

so far.
good:
*new quests with tons of content.
*the strongholds with the bosses inside.
*chocobo's and airships.
*the getting more involved with the grand companies.
*the linking and chains for party
*spirit bonding gear
*the vast majority of the patch
bad:
*the new recipes seem to have scaled down crafting too far.
*the materia system. i like the system, but would prefer it to be a synth like creating finished products. if i help someone else i want my skill to determine success and not the luck of hitting start.
*the old gear being made obsolete. if the new recipe makes the same item as the old recipe and the new one can attach materia to it the old one should be able to do so also.
*the way people are exploiting the power leveling with links. leves were removed as a focal point for the super fast leveling and now without fatigue the new system actually gets more sp per hour dragging someone behind you.
*rewards for grand company quests are tiny. -

Choco's and other lore content including Ifrit!
Bad:
Gameplay is now extremely clunky due to no queuing along with sounds and log ability issues also preventing smooth spell casting!
Respawn timers on alot of mobs are below 30 seconds, this is a artificial and lazy way to increase difficulty... the new strongholds are pathetic at best.
Still no Looting roll system or seperate trade windows for materia, so have to make sure the equipment and precious materia you hand over to someone to attach is completely trustworthy otherwise your outta luck for the new system!
Each craft can only attack materia to their respected equipment they make... finding trustworthy people to hand stuff over too for every single craft is annoying at best.
The still loner/LS only based community ... people's anti-socialism in this game never ceases to amaze me, even with a patch this big and all the group activity involved.
