Where the hell do we buy Gear? we started Uldal or w.e Do I really have to pay 6k and 16k for that level 5 crap from NPCs in Market? why is no one selling low level stuff=_=... now that the game is changed we are forced to upgrade gear constantly and buy stuff within level and all everyone sells is 30-40 crap=_=... We are both pretty much wondering how the hell we are suppose to play as any mobs our level basically rape us instantly lol.... Sort of confused..

but... you can't even do that...*** too expensive... we shouldn't be forced to craft when we don't want to.. not to mention neither of us have a clue what craft makes what or how to even begin... every guide I read says OH YOU NEED LIKE 100k to even start this ***. plus I don't even know where to buy the tools to start and don't wanna spend what little money I have just to buy those tools and then not even have the money to buy the mats to craft anything. Idk how this was like before the patch today but it feels like everyone who started today Got royally *** as before this everything was EZ mode and now all the high levels are just gonna sit pretty with everything they got. Hopefully there are some nice people who start selling low level gear for cheap=_=... if not I'ma just quit and wait until they fix something... It's pretty sad when I played FFXI for 6 years straight only to come here and quit first day simply because its unplayable... I could grind 60 EXP for 3 hours to get a level but I mean really... to what end..

Just want to point out that the wards in general are empty sense they were wiped, and people havn't had time to set up shop again, (alot of crafters are probably hunting down mats for their own new gear sense most probably had gear that was above their level). Maybe a few days before you see anything at all worth buying, not that there will be though, varies from server to server.

There is the unstable wards issue as well as the fact that in the past low level gear was kind of pointless as you outgrew it in a flash and you could just wear high level gear instead, so most people didn't make any. It also isn't as profitable because low level people can't afford to pay much for it, so you'd have to sell with very high volume, which is a pain in the ass to make happen with the market wards.
It's probably easiest to look up some very low level recipes as you can make them almost immediately at L1 crafter and the materials should be very cheap.
It's not easy starting out in 1.19, though. Things will have to improve for sure. -

I always like to point this out to people because it seems lost upon beginners (which is understandable, since no other MMO is exactly like this). BUT... What you have to do, is horizontal leveling. You don't want to run into a game just playing Lancer, sorry. This game will not work like that.
Your best bet, starting out as a fresh level 1, is this:
- Start out doing all the guildleves/local leves available to you.
- Save a small amount of gil and purchase a starter weapon for each class type.
- Level all classes to 10-20. (This includes crafting & gathering)
- At this point you will have a good base for your character build, you will have gil accumulated from crafting/gathering (sell stuff to NPCs, in wards, etc. If you don't like crafting, sell your shards/crystals.) and you will have a good amount of base experience.
- There is a new open world dungeon for rank 15-20 which will help with your gear situation, you can survive on starter gear until this point.
That's a good way to start, you'll have a good stash of gil behind you and be on your way to getting out of that first rut.
Things to keep in mind:
Research your server. Higher population = more people inclined to lend a newbie a hand.
Shout... For the love of god, shout. And I don't mean give up after 5 minutes, shout for up to 30mins. and generally you'll get an answer. I know this isn't ideal, but until we get a large influx of new players (several months away @ PS3 re-launch), it won't be much better.

You don't need all classes at 1-20, especially not gathering and crafting classes, as you'll be wasting a lot of time on things that don't actually matter. You will greatly benefit from CON/THM spells on your LNC, though, and other DoWs can provide some decent abilities and traits to go with your LNC.

I was only arguing against getting multiple crafts to a low to mid level. Crafts at 50 are extremely useful but getting there requires you to either bot or go insane of boredom because you're doing a robot's work.

Crafting's not as boring as it used to be with the materia/simplified recipe list. If you're spamming the same skills over and over, sure, it can be hella boring. Grinding anything is boring.
If you supplement your crafting with your other jobs however, and craft seriously with the intent of either equipping yourself, a friend, or selling on the markets, it can be fun and rewarding. There's nothing quite like turning the day's spoils into max profits. -

Honestly i'd say you just got unlucky with timing. At the moment the crafters are busy making all the new high level gear because the profits are astronomical. This will change as more people get hold of it. Also hitting you is increased competition for low lvl gear as a lnc because more people are taking it up since the job got so much stronger.
Availability will improve. Until then either join a linkshell and ask the crafters in there or walk up to the group of crafters that generally hang around the repair guy in uldah and ask them to make you gear.
