WAR, DRG, BRD, both DPS ignored all mechanics, got hit by every AoE and still took 45 minutes to finish Neverreap. Bad players exist. What is your point?
Not sure what you want to say with this, cause it really doesn't matter what composition you run.
Bad players exist.
I take it you were the healer? Did you help them kill the mobs & bosses or where you to busy poking your nose while spamming 1 for heals?
I've gone double BRD in Fractal and been done in like. Half hour?
Who cares as long as it doesn't take like..the full 90 minutes
I give up. All it takes is one bad player playing as MCH or BRD and all of a sudden every MCH and BRD are terrible? Like people already stated: Bad players do exist.
Believe it or not, good MCH and BRD's do exist too.
/overprotective >_>
*breathes*
My favorite so far is a party I got in Fractal with a Summoner who refused to use Shadow Flare. I asked him if he was against using the ability, and he told me: "I don't bother in dungeons like this." The 9k HP brand new healer got my commendation, instead, for DPSing and doing really well with bomb cleanses for his first clear.
That group should take little to no damage, DPS away!
There is SO MUCH TIME in Neverreap to DPS as the healer, I am almost more in Cleric than I am outside of it. :D
Good WHM holy use turns a 25 minute run into a 20 minute run. The blame doesn't lie solely on the dps.
So, bad players exist, this has nothing to do with the job in question - though I guess if a player was using a job that has a potentially higher DPS output their baseline DPS may be slightly higher. *Shrugs?*
Or instead of all us assuming they both could be new players with low ilv.

There are a few good brd/mch (myself included) but I've seen so many bad ones lately :/ Like, bad to the point of getting through a dungeon the same speed without them. I've ran fractal as mch before and ended up with a brd, it was one of my fastest runs (not the fastest, but top 3), just like I've had nins, drgs and mnks while on smn and the run took way longer. Bad players don't make a good job bad, they're just bad players.
So you got bad players in Duty Finder? That's hardly news. This is why I run Expert in a premade. We routinely clear Neverreap in about 25 minutes. The party composition varies, but I'm almost always on PLD. WHM/BLM/BLM and WHM/BLM/DRG are typical. Sometimes we have BRD and/or MCH in there and it doesn't seem to vary much. Maybe 2-5 minutes longer total? Who cares? It's Expert Roulette, not the friggin Indy 500 or something.
If we have two BLM I sometimes end up being top DPS at the last boss cause tornadoes. xD
Thanks for sharing.
I have to agree with pretty much everyone on here - no matter the job, bad players exist. Saying that its 'the job' itself, or the set up, and not 'the player' is irrational stereotyping and closed minded. I play PLD and MCH, and I've had parties with a BRD/MCH set up where I was tanking or I was the MCH (and I seem to get a lot of compliments from players on my machinist) and they went perfectly fine, with the normal run time of about 20-25 minutes.
I've had bad everything (DPS, Tanks and Healers) at some point but I don't go around pointing fingers and saying everyone who plays those jobs must be awful or saying it was the setup and was doomed to failure. Stop blaming the jobs and start looking at the player.
So much this. I'm not sure why, but anytime I get this situation with two MCH and/or bad dps in a roulette, suddenly the healer has a lazy spell, and just sits there healing, even tho there is no healing needed 90% of the time. It's like dude, you could make this hugely less painful if you would dps. It happens every single time for me. Its very rare that i have both bad dps, and dps that can't dodge. For some reason they know how to dodge, but not dps the things.
I see the problem. You didn't have a warrior
Also I thought SE had put into the duty system that there was like specific slots available for ranged dps, and then all other dps or something weird like that. I forget all the details, but I thought it was setup so you couldn't get 2 Ranged unless there were some circumstance like really long wait times or something. Any remember that? Wish I had a link.
This is why I always que on my BLM/SMN.
5-10 min queue, but it consistently takes 20-25 minutes instead of 40 minutes when I get bad dps on my SCH.
I believe you're thinking about pvp, wolves den.
I think TC is most likely complaining that it wasn't just a case of bad players being bad, but also getting a combination of "low" dps jobs for the duty roulette. That's not to say that all brds or MCH are bad dps, could just be laziness or they haven't adjusted to play style change of gauss barrel/minuet
I always bring my sch to expert roulette just to avoid such situations (bad players or whatever ) since I can dps practically the entire time unless I get a really squishy tank
What? o.O How is that possible? D: Even when I have dps that are brain dead bad when I'm on sch runs usually go faster. On bosses I can usually pull out an extra 500-600 dps, but on trash pulls I'm usually well over 1-1300, even if they are doing very badly a good sch can overcompensate big time! :o I've never had a run where I was on sch take longer except when I run on smn, because smn AoE is the most broken thing ever ._. but sch dps is solid enough to be equivalent to a third dps in the group with little to no effort so even at a groups worst with a sch it should be an average timed run. With a group of competent dps/tank schs can speed up runs tremendously, don't underestimate ussssss! xD /flex
BRD here. Did 49% of all the damage in Neverreap by myself. Run took a little over 20 minutes. Your point?
As a matter of fact, you can change this thread's title for whatever jobs you want and it'd still be irrelevant.
Fastest Fractal run I ever had was double MCH, and this was right before Esoterics were a thing. I was one of them.
Fastest Aery I've had was with a MCH while I was on my DRG (who I must say was AMAZING in both speed and DPS. I'd have her kittens.)
Plenty of GOOD players who know how to use the tools that a Job is (and nothing more). Please take a moment to learn just how good the tools those three jobs actually have are,
There is a long running history with MMO's that everyone who plays physical ranged is a terrible player. Regardless that there is no documented proof that worse players play physical ranged then others. The stigma is still there. Bard will be called a terribad long before and more often then any other job. Machinist I'm not sure, never tried or encountered them at my level.
