Well that makes perfect sense. Who doesn't like having lots of health? /s
I usually have bad luck when running with friends because we take stuff less seriously.
He probably needs all the extra health he can get. He is a dragoon after all.
This is partly why I do roulettes in the first place. You never know what you're gonna get.
Spoiler'd to protect the innocent and the faint of heart.
^ Oh man...
Your tank also has less HP than you.
By the way, I still can see that player's name in your target bar.
My boyfriend is working on his DRG's relic for glamour. He went into Seal Rock with his Novus, LB'd a WHM, it only did 1/4th of their HP. Hasn't forgotten to change to his i190 since... Probably because I laughed for 20 minutes straight. That WHM must have thought they were invincible.
In defense of those with the wrong accessories equipped, do you remember when they used to color code the jewelry? I open my armory now and I see rows of the same exact icon. Is it ps3 limitations? Or did they forget how to add color to their icons? I don't know how many times I've leveled up, slapped some higher level jewelry on my character in a hurry mid-dungeon, and realized an hour later that I'm healing with a vit necklace and a dex ring equipped.
The picture of those accessories is same with other (If for example they didn't read the text), or else they want higher HP.
I have been that DRG more than once because when my FC gets bored, we like to play "let Luna DRGtank things." Sometimes I have done that and then forgotten to switch my accessories back to Slaying afterwards...
I once ran 2/3 of a dungeon on my DRG without pants and a few other miscellaneous things (and I think wrong weapon too) ...... Because of those lovely thigh high boots SE LOOOOVES giving us.
Actually I don't think that would be just the weapon (though it would be partly). There's an ilvl sync to 150 anyway. WHM have a pvp skill called attunement which greatly increases their evasion, and nullifies damage by 90% for ten seconds. They can't move of do anything during that 10 seconds, but they are pretty damn invincible while it's active.
If the complaint is literally over one accessory you need to get out a lot more op, honestly.
If he's doing 'just enough' to ensure that the duty is completed then I don't really see the issue with it. Experts are only stressful when there's someone who can't stop micromanaging every little thing. I can't say I'd ever intentionally go out of my way to examine someone's gear in a dungeon run unless they were dying repeatedly.
Flame private third class. Awwwww yissssss.
Benefit of the doubt, maybe he just switched GC's.
I'd love to insert a snarky remark about DRGs here, but I can't say anything. I was running around using a crafting chestpiece as a level 60 MCH for God only knows how long. I know for a fact that I glamoured that stupid thing, but something, somewhere went wrong.
When someone asked me if that was my normal gear, I proudly stated, "Yes, yes it is!"
That hindsight, though. >_>
Was doing A1 yesterday and wondering why a healer had almost 17k health had all Vit acc and assumed put all their extra points into Vit as well.
This is Fractal. As a second DPS, "just enough that the duty is completed" can honestly mean going AFK for the whole run because it can be completed with 1 DPS; that doesn't mean that it's ok for them to do that, or pull 400 DPS as a DRAGOON (the strongest single-target DPS job right now) at level 60. If a healer or tank performs their role equivalent of what the DRG was doing, it's most likely a wipe. It's only "ok" because the other DPS was picking up the slack.
This doesn't have to be "min-max srs business", but honestly the misconception that so many players have that performing your correct DPS rotation is min-maxing, is why DPS checks are some of the most frustrating things that this game has. When you play poorly and still complete the duty, it's only because someone else on the team had to carry the extra weight.
I once had a ninja with 2 VIT accessories. When I asked why, he said, "so I don't have to worry about moving out of aoe so I can keep my DPS up."
I'm a MCH with full dex gear and I've had 1k more health than the tank before (a PLD) during expert runs. Hell, I had more health than both of the tanks during an A4 run once. Though I agree having a couple fending accessories is absolutely unnecessary, it's not going to keep you from running the dungeon successfully.
Personally, I think it'd be cool if there were encounters where having a bit more health would help the dps survive instead of having everything be a full on dps race. Mix things up a bit.
I'm all for players doing what they want to do and playing how they want to play.
But this reasoning made the healer within me rage so very hard just now. I've always made a point of not healing or raising anyone whom I think is purposefully eating AoEs that they have no business eating, or who purposefully pulls an enemy away from the tank. This does not give me reason to change my tune.
Luckily, the tank also thought it was BS. He told the ninja to equip the proper accessories and that if he didn't make an obvious attempt to move out of AOE he would be vote kicked. The ninja refused and then said, "ok fine. I will if u will. U have full str accessories." And then the ninja was vote dismissed.
It's entirely possible that this was the Dragoons polite way of saying 'I play with too many bad tanks and rip aggro so often that I feel like I need this HP as a security measure'
He was not rude about it. He just said he likes some extra HP.
While an unfortunate nerf to his potential... you never know the reason unless you know that person.
The only way he could ever pull agro with 400 DPS is if the other 3 party member simultaneously disconnect.
You can wear full Mind accessories and allocate all your points into Piety as a melee DPS for all I care, but if you are jumping into group content, please understand that you become dead weight to your team for doing so, and that they have every right to kick you for it if that is what they wish.
