Ideas for tank invincible button

Not really anything to do with balance, but some ideas to make the tank cooldowns more flavorful and interesting.

PLD - Hallowed Ground - After hallowed ground ends, gain "Blessed" for 10 seconds, reducing damage taken by 100%. This reduction decreases by 10% each second.

WAR - Holmgang - If you are reduced to 1 hp during Holmgang, gain "Bloodied". When Holmgang ends, if you have Bloodied, you immediately gain Infuriated/Uncontrollable and reduce the CD on Infuriate by 30s.

DRK - Living Dead - Your attacks leech 50% additional health during living dead (souleater leeches 150%). This increases to 100% additional health during Walking Dead (souleater leeches 200%). If you are alive at the end of Walking Dead, you immediately gain the effects of Sole Survivor (aka recover 20% hp and 20% mp).

PLD is focused on having additional reduction, I imagine WAR to be more offensive and angry, and DRK being leech vampire focused.

I actually like the general ideas of these suggestions. Changes the power of each so PLD isn't just a perfect defense bottom, without feeling like completely gutting it, and still bringing up the other two so they aren't just objectively worse.

I've always wanted a buff to Holmgang, not necessarily for raids, but for solo. Like at the end of the Holmgang duration, Warrior receives a self-heal equal to X amount of Damage Delivered whilst under the effect.

Living Dead, in the LL QA where a Question criticized it: SE, instead of suggesting a change, hinted at a mechanic alteration/addition to DRK, so the new Living Dead may play off w/e that will be. I like your suggestion btw

Thanks for the ideas! I think the numbers might be off (for instance, Holmgang still suffers from the tiny 6 sec duration, DRK leech might be too much) but I think trying to simply "balance" them defensively is the wrong way to go about it.

Making them more unique and all powerful in their own way might be a good idea, esp if their cooldowns were lowered a bit, so that they have defensive value other than only as a "oh crud" button, similar to how HG can be used preemptively, but rarely are holmgang/living dead used in the same way.

yasss. All cool ideas. Your Holmgang suggestion feels a lot like "Undying Rage" from Tryndamere in League of Legends which is sort of how I always imagined it.

Just a suggestion for Holmgang that would solve all my personal problems with it: Make the root a buff that can be manually clicked off.

I never really minded it until yesterday, where I had to Holmgang in Fractal during the hand + magitek + 3 other mobs section of the last room. The hand finished his stun AOE before I could move, then the AOE that spawns the bind circle hit me while I was stunned, then the two laser AOEs from the robot things pointed directly at me and I died before I could break the bind.

Life is unfair, but Holmgang is especially so.

Since holmgang is a norse tradition involving a fight on like (i dunno, a bearskin or something) an enclosed area, could be better to have a tether (similar to PLD cover) that removes the buff and roots you when broken. So you can run around in a say 10 yalm circle. Your target is also tethered, and if it moves out, is stunned.

Would preserve the spirit of the buff but make it much more usable.

Also for flavor, make it so "If the target dies before holmgang is over, immediately gain infuriated/uncontrollable".

That's why I try not to use Holmgang as a last ditch emergency action. I either use it as something that's all part of the plan, such as take an unreduced buster and then use Equilibrium + Beast to stabilize myself immediately... or I'll take advantage of it's less used properties, like -

- Use the root to nullify a knockback/draw-in
- Pull that pesky caster to the group, or leash an enemy that decided that the healer was a good snack
- Use the tug as a clutch interrupt
- Catch a mob that a Healer/DPS has pushed before it gets out of range

Hm. Does any other ability have this many possible uses?

If you check my other posts, you find me saying these exact words: "Holmgang is one ability that is trying to do too many things at the same time!" It's a very cool perk but at the same time can be problematic. I wish we had more control over what we wanted it to do. Like Spooky's suggestion of removing the bind manually.

It just serves to prove that it was never designed to be a clutch "I don't wanna die!" move. Buuut, you know... 2.0 Warrior and all that ;)

Doing too many things at once, however, doesn't stop me from feeling fuzzy when I do successfully perform one of the non survival uses.

The root is fine with me, but it should come with bigger benefits. It just fits so well with the Warrior's better-tanking-through-badassery motto.

Mainly my issue is the 1 HP survival thing works very well when you're planning on it as a cooldown, but if you ended up not hitting 1hp it's just wasted.
I think it would be fun to give Holmgang a damage boost and life steal for the duration...maybe not extend those effects to PVP, though.

I love the idea of Holmgang way too much to get rid of the tether.

I like to think of the tether being the Warrior just holding someone still with the hook of the axe, and just punching them in the face for the duration
