Gearing , how does it work?

Is it like wow ? currently iam lvl 48 and idk what ill do at 50 , the question that concerns me is : is the gearing like wow? or the lvl 50 dungeons and raids are now obsolute and usless to get in as the gear will be replaced by quest gear in havensward?

At level 50 you will get your first artifact set from your lvl 50 job quest. After that pretty much tomb farming current tombs up to this point is Tombs of Esoterics wish is IL 200 but there is a weekly tomb cap on those of 450 tombs a week. Your IL170 gear set is also tomb gear but has no weekly cap. Start with that set first then do your esoteric set.

I've never played wow but after level 50 you will continue to get gear from the MSQ. Once you get to 60 you will start having to grind out points/dungeon/raids to gear up. The level 50 raids are only run for glamour, or certain quests now, although it you already had the best of that gear then it is good until the mid-50s.

That's right, the lv50 gear from a stats/gearing perspective is now obsolete and will be replaced by gear in Heavensward. You just take what you are given from the main scenario but don't dwell on lv50 content too long outside of that -- continue to the extended story in Heavensward where you will continue to be given higher gear from main scenario quests and side quests.

Step 1: follow MSQ( main story quests)
Step 2: level from 50-60
Step 3: do your roulettes for Eso and Law tomes
Step 4: Equip the best you got, save your Eso for weapon first; Chest 2nd
Step 4: Spend Law on Weapon, then chest, then start replacing lowest ilvl to hit 170.
Step 5: run Alexander Normal weekly for your i190 pieces. Spend extra law upgrading your your 170s to 180s.
Step 6: Pvp- because it's fun
Step 7: buy your Eso weapon and go run savage Alexander

Huh, did i miss something? There is a way to upgrade with law stones instead of hunting marks?

Yes you can buy the upgrade materials with law from the same woman you buy your gear from. IIRC accessory and belt upgrade is 350, left side is 700 and wep is 900

700, ouch, especially since the upgrade from 170 to 180 is quite small. Oh well, i got 3 classes decked out with at least 170 now, so i guess there isn't much else to do with the tomestones of law. But i still highly suggest to do at least the 3 star hunt marks every day (75 hunt marks a day, 300 needed for left side, 150 for right side), and the weekly elite hunt mark every week (100 marks).

If you like the look of the Zeta, you can easily get it when you're 60. Go by the i55 weapon from your Grand Company HQ and repeat step 1 and 2

Trust me; I might get 6-10 game hours in a week and I'm i190 and ranking for our progression group through Savage Alexander. My route saves you wasted hours.

Gear in XIV uses Item Levels. Higher iLvl = better gear, generally speaking (There's some times where certain substat combos are just so poor for certain classes or other factors come into play, but yeah).

There is a lot of obsoleted gear at this point. The moment you reach level 50, your gear's best possible item level goes from 50 to 130. You can straight up buy i110 gear off the marketboards if you want at that point that you can equip. Your main story quest, after the events of The Praetorium, will also throw i100 gear at you; while you do various level 50 content, you'll also rack up Tomestones of Poetics, which can be traded in for i120 gear that can be upgraded to i130 with reward items from the weekly Crystal Tower raid series quest. A vast number of dungeon reward items will be useless to you... unless you want them for glamour, of course!

As you do Heavensward content, the story quests, side quests, and dungeons will steadily reward you with an increasing item level of gear until all the ARR stuff is obsolete, but it's not an instantaneous obsoletion. So, doing level 50 content isn't a complete waste of time. Gear bought with Poetics, especially if upgraded through certain items; or the items dropped in the World of Darkness (i120) and/or Final Coil of Bahamut (i130/i135) are going to last you a few levels even into Heavensward; Final Coil gear especially doesn't get outclassed until about level 56 (and its accessories, strangely, about 59). If you can find ways into that content it's also great entertainment, even if you're in undersized parties with level 60s.
