Im trying to say remove enochain an make it a passive ability so that if people mess up they won't have to wait for it to be off cooldown an causing alot of damage lost :)

So basically you want to remove enochain requirement for B4/F4, and make enochain still give the 5% damage buff? Might as well add in F4/B4 refreshing AF/UI, and double potency for Fire II, and Ley Lines making everything instant cast. And remove the cast times from WM/GB while you're at it. And make all red scrips gathering and crafting give 450 scrips.
Sure, we need to hit the 10k dps to show all these scumbags melee dps who's the boss.
Let's get serious. Enochian is fine as it is. If you screw it up, then it's on you. I agree there's too many cases when we can screw it up.
The solutions I prefer are :
- Scathe adds some time to Enochian/AF/UI (like a GCD or so) to be able to move and not ruin the cycle. (A bit too much IMO)
- Change the cooldown of Swiftcast to 20s. Has the same purpose as above, but usable less often.
In an attempt to make something productive out of the hyberbole you're trying to use, I do think Leylines should have a lesser effect on other casters standing in the circle. You (BLM) get 15% speed increase, WHM/SCH/SMN get a 5% increase. Casters tend to bunch together so nothing changes in groups and BLM gets some group utility.
They were bad ideas in the first place so that wouldn't really hurt anyone, but that's for another topic.Quote:

This said, the problem with Enochian is that it's a mechanic that is stand-alone. It's sort of like that kid that sits in a corner by themselves while the cool kids (Astral Fire, Umbral Ice and Thundercloud procs) just mingle with each other. I'm sure some of you are awesome at your job and can make it work, but I'm looking at it from a design perspective. What synergy exists between Enochian and the rest of BLM gameplay is sort of forced through the need for one spell (Fire IV) and little else. Even thundercloud procs fit naturally because of the gaps in the 2.0 rotation that gave you time to use it.
Sure, you're doing mad deepz under ideal conditions (I've seen good BLMs make a mob's HP bar evaporate), but I'm not a fan of the design. If BLM at 50 was a perfect three-layer cake, Enochian is sort of a 4th layer that they tried to add but keeps wobbling from side to side. It's not toppling the cake nor making it less tasty, but it just doesn't look as perfect as it did before.
While leyline affecting allies would be nice. leyline is too small to have 3-4 players standing in it. its already an aoe magnetQuote:

Think of the joke potential. You'd see fanart of BLMs getting crowded by other mages inside their circles, not unlike this. =P
My main gripe with enochian is the delay before I can cast F4 after I get astral fire with F3. In the old rotation the pacing was the same for all skills since I could cast F1 immediately after F3 and not have to wait for the server to confirm that my F3 hit and that I am now under Astral fire. The somewhat random delay (the time it take varies) before F4 becomes available means the whole class now plays much less smoothly.
F4 refreshes AF or a longer AF timer.
Under Enochian, have F2 proc a free Flare cast (Firebomb?). Let us at narrow the gap to SMN AOE a bit please.
I'd like to see the cast restrictions removed from F4/B4, but have them gain increased potency when enochian is active. For example, 190 potency normally but the full 280 with enochian.
This would give two major benefits:
1) Lessens the punishment when enochian or astral/umbral drop off 0.1 second before the end of your cast.
2) Eliminates the delay after switching elements or popping enochian
I doubt I'll ever be a fan of enochian, but this would be a major QoL increase that would make it feel a lot less punishing.
The only problem enochian and fire IV have is the random performance based on the target. If you do not have to move then you will be able to perform your highest DPS but if you start moving then your DPS drops considerably. BLM DPS is comparable to other jobs even when they don't move thus they can't offset the disadvantage of moving.
I think this issue can be fixed by making Fire IV instant cast since then you can freely use it while moving.
