Hi guys,
I am playing role for PLD/DRK in my static group.
We are still gearing up for Savage A1. I managed to get iLv190 for PLD and iLv186 for DRK.
Our static setup is
Tank: PLD/PLD (me, can switch to DRK)
Healer: AST/WHM
DPS: BLM/DRG
Here is the gear I got so far.
PLD/DRK
1H: ilv190 (both DRK/PLD with rav weapon)
2H: ilv190 (PLD shield)
Head: ilv190
Chest: ilv200 / iLv185 for DRK
Leg: ilv190
feet: ilv190
Belt: iLv190
Acc: all ilv190 with STR/VIT switchable
Question 1:
Should i upgrade my DRK weapon to ilv200 one or work on Armour? I know upgrading weapon for DPS and Healer (maybe not?) but not sure if it is the case for PLD or DRK. If it is ok i would like to save it for my armour/acc and work on relic when the comes out.
Question 2:
What combination of acc is good for PLD for savage progression? Currently I have put all points on STR. I am not sure what sort of DPS is required for Tanks (MT or OT) for savage progression.

Get the ilvl200 weapon.
Replace one of the Paladins with the required class: Warrior. Your literally making the mob do 10% more damage to you and the raid because of this. -

U need warrior, just do it. Not just for path but eye, dmg. Warrior on a2 with decimat/berserk/OP just reks everything.

It doesn't matter what composition you go with as long as your group can push the Oppressor to 60% HP before Oppressor 0.5 appears. If your four DPS have their i200 Weapons and you still can't push him past the 60% mark then you may want to temporarily switch to DRK for the extra 200 DPS. That being said you'll eventually over gear the fight and can switch back to PLD.
Best case scenario is both Tanks grabbing a set of i150 Slaying Accessories and penta-melding them with +155 Strength, +140 Vitality. This should allow each PLD to do about 440 - 460 DPS (without the i200 Weapon). A1 should be absolutely no problem with two Paladins. I'm curious what jobs the other two DPS in your static are however. If you have a Summoner the A2 enrage is a piece of cake with Bane; no WAR or DRK required.
Life will be easier with only one Paladin but it's not like a Warrior can hit both bosses in A1 with Storms Path or every add in A2. -

Yeah I have entered A1 Savage several time with PUG and brought Faust down to 3% (PLD/DRK) while i am waiting for our static group to gear up.
It was several week ago so most of us had ilv190 weapon. I hope we can try savage this weekend with our static group for the first time! very exciting! :) -

However, why not just have a paladin/2 warriors? One of the warriors can just go full dps man mode and keep buffs on both mobs.

Get ur drk ilvl200 weapon and make ur PLD in the group solo tank it (that is what I do) I am duo tank with warrior and a drk. Both groups can kill Faust before it kills any of the two tanks.
P.S I know some players went for the armor before the weapons/shield, but I went the other way around. Right now I got to get ilvl200 weapon/shield/one acc and now planning to get the armor. -

I had the upgraded Doman set on pld so I could get the I lev for the raid. Then I got the Eso shield & Sword just to keep up with the higher geared dps. Then I got the Proto feet, head and hands and a whole mix of fending and slaying proto accessories (since you can get 2 a week). Currently working on proto legs and an Eso body. Also the Eso set can be upgraded to 210 from savage drops I think, and should be good to get started on new legacy weapon farming when it comes out.
For #2, I've yet to hear what the minimum accuracy values were for Alex+. Tank stance's give an accuracy boost but I'm not sure about offence. However I think I last had around 616 or so accuracy and was not missing anything to my knowledge (in nnormal). Ive went as low as 530's when upgrading gear in main story. So who knows where savage puts the bar on each floor/body section. -

You lose way too much DPS spamming it when it's not needed. Not to mention, the boss splits and you can't exactly put it on both of them because they have to be tanked apart.Quote:

@OP - Personally, I'd upgrade your DRK weapon. Going PLD/PLD may have its merits for sheer mitigation (two hallowed grounds to play with would be kinda nice, gg plasma) but you'll probably want the extra DPS from that DRK off tank, at least at first. As far as accessories go, I started off going in full Fending at the request of my static's healers, and have been swapping to Slaying one by one. Basically, get with your healers. See what makes them comfortable. I'm in 3 Slaying 2 Fending at this point and it's going pretty well.
I thought about making pentamelded stuff but ugh... the item level difference kinda makes me cringe. I'm hoping we get some higher level craftable accessories soon so I can make a proper melded set. -

We have 2 WARs and we are completely fine (well healers are saying that one PLD would be better for A2s, but they are handling it) but 2 PLDs? Wow. That's kinda savage savage mode, atleast for DPS checks. :D
And yeah, atleast go for the DRK, imo it is not as good as WAR, but definitely better than doing double PLD.
