Can we get a reduction on the reward of EXP in leves? I mean, with the link and mobs, it's almost TOO much. I mean, the rest of the patch is awesome, just EXP is way too fast.
Yeah I know I put sp, quit being smartarses

what's SP?
Experience points, same **** different toilet.
Grinding at several locations are overkill with sp gain as well. Honestly the gains need to be halved.
Had a 44 in the amalja bstmen settlement, he was getting close to 1,000xp a kill with chains.
Got ~60,000sp in about 20mins.
1 sp chain up to 7 got him close to 6,000sp (that is 360,000 sp/hr as a rate on that chain...... Seriously that is about 5 fold to much sp/hr)
XP gains are way way to high atm, if it is like this in other camps with chains it will take less then a week to get to cap in a class.
It's ridiculous... especially with the new claiming system. DEFINATELY needs to be reworked
So....is exp to fast or too slow? You people need to make up your minds. TBH I think EXP gain is fine as is.
Step 1: go into stronghold with 8 ppl
Step 2: kill 100 mobs
Step 3: ???
Step 4: you now have 100,000 XP
Its fine, it doesnt need to be a chore, leave it as it is.
If you dont like it, fight a mob then stand still looking like a complete moron for a minute then go fight the next one, you now have successfully reduced it.
Dont ruin it for others.
It should be reduced to be honest. I dont want this Game turning into Final Abyssea.
this probably in preparation for a lv cap raise and 120k+ exp per level in the 51+ range
Keep telling yourself that.
Well Yoshida did say it should take a month and a half or something to cap a class if you play casually (ie. I'm guessing you just level through guildleves with the occasional exp party). So capping in a week if you grind a lot might fit into his plans. Levelling has become pretty trivial in most MMORPGs nowadays, but those games usually have a more vigorous end game waiting for you when you get to the cap.
There is no point in levelling, its absolute waste, its there to just give you something to do and keep you playing more, but content and events should do that, not choring out the same mob 5 million times.
For casual people who have busy lifes it shouldnt feel like it will take a year just to hit a 50, some of us casuals would actually like to enjoy the game and do activities that is usually locked to those who have 30 hours a day to play.
Like I said, if you dont like it, you can reduce it yourself or become casual.
Interesting, everyone will cap quick. So is this how it's intended to be?
I can see with time, they really are intending for this to be different from XI, maybe it's not such a bad thing, who knows?
I can't guess what's good or bad anymore with SE.
I still don't think we have enough content to justify how quickly one is able to level up.
BUT
Two things: 1. 50 will not always be the max level
2. If SE keeps up this pace on updates, we will have a ton more to do in the near future.
I'm okay with the current exp rate as long as SE keeps the pace of new content releases.
The game should not be about leveling up. Leveling up is the introduction to the true game.
Tried party grind exp in full pt for stronghold and light pt and duo for other spots, was awesome fun and fast, however I do feel and agree the exp is a little too fast, 900 per kill at high chains and links wiht almost no downtime is crazy.
Can easily get 50k/h now without breaking a sweat.
Im not a high level and haven't had a chance to experience chains of this magnitude yet, but do you feel an upper end cap on the amount exp earned would work? or giving the Enemies more HP to balance out the increased damage from an 8 man group?
Yeah I'd say leave as is. Leveling shouldn't be hard, content is what should be hard.
Theyre prepping game for when cap is past 50. You think exp is too fast now: what about when they extend 50 to 75?
Stop Q_Qing over perfectly fine "working as intended" type mechanics.
This patch is epic. Period.
They intended for leveling to be quick. They want people to be able to actually do fun things with friends.
Plus, from what I've heard Spiritbond grows very slowly, so that's going to be a source of some serious grinding.
Having not had chance to play since the patch I'm a little confused. On one hand I see people complaining that leveling is too slow now. On the other I see people complaining that we get too much EXP. Surely it can't be both.
Leve mob base SP went from 50 to 100 if anyone noticed.
Also there seems to be no reduction for lower level people in party anymore ("Bonus" totally removed)
This means a L50 can come and just destroy L40 mobs for a L20-30 and he will get full SP/Links/Chain bonus
At levels 10-20 I'm actually getting a lot less exp per mob than before the patch, this being solo though.
For example in the leve Revenge of the Dodos I was getting 103exp per mob as a level14 gladiator on 3 stars and I actually had to lower the difficulty to 2 stars cause I was running out of time because killing the mobs was way slower than before, on 2 stars I was getting around 70exp per mob, which is really nothing for the effort. Finishing the leve rewarded me with 608 experience points (at least 50% less than before).
Also tried a solo camp where I used to head after hitting level 12 or so, north of camp horizon with all the syrphids and coblyns, but I wasn't able to kill anything efficiently at all anymore.. 130-180exp from mobs that I can barely kill and after which I have to stand still to recover my hp and mp for at least a minute doesn't sound very good at all. Also a syrphid 4 levels higher than me basically destroyed me.
So have you guys tried low level soloing or any soloing at all after the patch? Or are we supposed to start partying from level one now?
From level...10-20 perhaps!Quote:

At least I have had no need to group up at around level 5.
The thing I have come to realize is, every time I am mad at SE because something seems so bad (different) relative to what I am used to (based mostly on my experience on FFXI), I eventually get used to it and enjoy it. My point is, before some of you argue the logic of the experience, do as Yoshi and the team says and try it. Play the game for a week (its been like 14 hours or so) then talk about your experiences. Although I haven't had much experience grinding post-patch, I can tell you leves were harder solo (for my 30 LNC), so again, SE is promoting party play but also allowing soloing (with the addition of 99 leve allowances) but are making it a bit more challenging at the same time. In sum, I think the game post patch 1.19 will prove to be a fundamental change that laid the foundation for the experience moving forward. Hopefully we look back in a year or so and see that as the first piece of many great ones to come.
its fun now, i wouldnt change it, also, people who are high level, keep in mind the base exp is based on your total to next, so you get way more than a level 20-30. Its pretty fun to duo as well.
fun comes first, i say leave it as is.
OH don't get me wrong, I love the way you can get EXP and how it links and all that good fun stuff. I just personally think it's a bit TOO much right now. I don't know, it might not be what I'm used to but we'll see in the weeks to come how things turn out.
Thanks for all the replies peeps... Oh and to that re re, I'm NOT Q-Qing. I'm asking for this game to be a little harder lol. You want QQ.. go to the other 1000 threads posted in the forums.
Remember the part about how they adamantly said, over and over again, that they want people to get to max level quickly so they can play with their friends? In a very long and eloquent post?
