1.19; godspeed.
1.19; godspeed.
Tell me about it, it seems that we get HUGE penalties from gear even a few lvl above you *1-2-3* and I just bought new gear a few days ago....
Also, I'm trapped in Ul'dah Merchant Wards and can't even log out o.o
I think, I'll stop playing till patch 1.20 -_-
Patch 1.19, also known as: "When the Crafters strikes back".
You got quite a good point here, my friend. I remember how hard was when I began playing GLA, nobody was selling low lvl shields on the only ones were like 79k or hundreds of gil. Much later when I lvl my craft to mids 20, I made a killing sellin low lvl shields between 7k and 10k, they were selling like pancakes and a lot of newbies were happy with their new gear.
I just hope that the crafter community comes to their senses and help everybody else to get their new gear. Or else we're gonna have the wards full of new gear with prices around the millions. And no, and not kidding about this.
its easier to level now fight weak stuff and and get xp bonus's and there a ton of mobs around now.
anytime something is new your gonna pay more until it spams the markets then you cant make money off it, i give it 2 weeks.
This is an absolute LIE at lower levels. Maybe at high levels its easier, but newer players just got shafted HARD by this patch.Quote:

Personally I think that, while it'll be hard for a little while, this was ultimately needed. The old gear needed to be phased out/heavily changed because stats are changing, and stricter level range restrictions were needed in order to help stabilize the crafting market.
It's gonna be rough for a week or so, much like it was at original launch when you couldn't even find a shield to save your life, but it'll equalize.
No, it's not a huge mistake lol. It's like a new launch, and there will be a series of these before this game is reborn. It was hard for players in the very beginning, and it is again because fundamentals have changed. Like I said, it will equalize.
Current players need to understand, with the extreme nature of the incoming changes, you're playing a glorified beta right now. And what you're playing today is a different game than yesterday. Give it more than a few hours to find it's feet.
And upgrading current gear presents it's own set of massive problems, mainly in that it damages the crafting community.
Bonus stats on gear with Optimal Rank does not give in partially like it used to.
You now gain 0 bonus stats (like Craftmanship) unless you are Optimal Rank or higher on that type of gear.
Really gonna suck having to carry 3-4 crafting gear sets around until I can get everything to the same level.
*** hoorah now people actually gotta use the gear that's ranked to them. As for this hp and difficulty thing I bet you 2 cents they adjust that in the next few days.
Wait. You mean we actually have to PLAY the game now? And, like, try? Effort?
Boo hoo hoo.
never said YOU should craft. Pay for mats and get your item crafted. End QQ
This severe gimp in equip outlevel it's a very positive change, since you should't wear equip out of your level
OP - don't be so bloody dramatic.
The end.
They streamlined crafting and gathering. So you can get started whenever you like. I have never depended on the market wards to hold what I need. To date I have not sold a single thing in the market wards and have made far more than 10 mil. How? I learned to do it myself. If you do not have the patience to wait for the things you want to start appearing in the market wards then you will have to learn how to make them appear yourself. If not then you will, not just now but ALWAYS, be at the mercy of crafters/gatherers. Give a person a fish and they will eat for the day. Teach a person to fish and they will eat for a lifetime.
As far as the patch. I was not pleased either at the changes they made to gear or to my stats as a mage class but I will make the adjustment the same way I did in the previous patch with MP management. Leveling lower classes I will manage with as well just like I have every other time. Standing up straight requires a spine...give yourself a couple of weeks to grow one and you will be fine. This patch was not designed to pave an easier road for those who left. It was designed to make more sense of what was already here. Learn the new way and then pass judgement.
Um...yeah, that in fact is exactly what it playing the game is.
And you don't have to craft to participate in the economy. You could be a gathering class. You could even do what I do and just sell crystals. I have hardly any levels put into crafting, and I get by on money from leves and selling crystals.
And how could you tell me that's "not the point"? Your OP has no point. It doesn't even have a complete sentence.
Oh Fixy complaining about a million things already? What a surprise.
We had a fair warning. Several in fact. The first was many months ago when a majority of the people who participated in the first player's poll agreed to support changes that would "drastically alter the rules" in Eorzea.
We had more fair warning several days before the patch.
And this doesn't do anything to new players. They won't be wearing any dated gear.
Ingrates need to go play another game.
Seriously: youre pissed because you have to wear optimal gear now? Say hello to the rest of the Mmo genre.
Youre pissed because a lot of lvl50s already exist in game? Maybe if you dropped the bandwagon mentality a long time ago and survived the bad times with the rest of us, then you would have multiple 50s too.
"U mad bro?" because their are already players with claim on the market? Look back at my first two points.
If you even stick around i would highly advise you quit expecting an easy ride or to have everything easily given to you. Match the amount of effort and pain all of us vets went through THEN you can come onto our forums and complain about this awesome patch that brought ffxiv out of the dark ages.
wait you mean you can't wear gear 40 levels over your level and get bonus'?!?! BLASPHEMY! Ugh how does every MMO get by? IT MAKES IT TO HARD FOR TEH NOOBS! geezus some of you people make me laugh.. amazing change.. now gear is worthwhile from 1-50.
As for being low level, that's hardly an issue if you got friends. Just tried some PL'ing out. Those are some fancy exp chains.
you'll get to that optimal rank in no time!
I just started a new character on another server also, since my launch one is almost completely dead, can't even break 1 chocobo after 1.19 patch. It's rough, all the level 7 tools from retainers were 40k+ and by the time I could afford it I was already over the optimal level. Gladiators don't start with a damn shield so I was scrambling to find one and most of them were too expensive, and NPCs pre 1.19 don't sell cheap shields. I eventually got lucky and got one from a levequest. I play with my girlfriend as a Tank/Mage duo so we don't have that many problems completing leves.
I figured well, since they are adding NPCs that sell this low level gear, it won't be so bad once that's implemented. Wrong. The level 10~20 gear is also 40-50k+ from NPC per PIECE. I'm in the mid 10's still wearing weathered gear, and the only reason I have anything other than default gear is because I got them from leves or a random leve chest. Fortunately, crafting is way easier than it used to be so I just made all the level 7 tools I needed yesterday and I'll go from there.
After the patch, low level Gladiator is annoying to play unless you slot some other things from other jobs. It's hard to tell now whether or not you can use Phalanx since you need to block first, so after Light Stab/Provoke I just sit there doing nothing and spamming Phalanx hoping it goes off until I have enough TP to use something else and waiting for cooldowns, filling my log with "That action cannot be performed x 5000." They need to gray out Phalanx until it's useable and make it light up when you can use it and not light up just because you have TP.
On the upside, yesterday I saw some guy being chased by 3 Spriggans across the map. I lol'd.
Also, it seems there are some issues with dying and returning. Yesterday I died and returned, and could not do ANYTHING. The game eventually crashed (FFXIV has stopped working...) and it auto-failed my leve. Before the patch, it would glitch sometimes if you died with your weapon out, you would run slower while in passive stance, (easily fixed by changing stances) but this time I couldn't do anything at all. Return, Teleport didn't work, couldn't switch stances, couldn't talk to NPCs or use the Aetheryte. Kinda like when you got stuck during alpha/beta.
All in all, good patch, love the difficulty increase, I think some things are still rough around the edges and could use some tuning, though.
The truly funny thing is that it was always this way - now you can see how much you've been penalized up until now. The big difference is not actually the gear optimal difference it's the stats from your physical levels going bye bye.
Not sure what exactly the beef is here but they did just add about 50 NPC's in cities and camps that sell all kinds of gear of Low, Mid & High Levels.
I'm pretty sure the idea is to buy the "Vanilla Gear" from NPC's, achieve SpiritBond, smelt it into Materia, then attach it to one of the "better" gears you get from a crafter (thus making it even better). Who cares if you get penalized while wearing the junk gear that you're just going to destroy anyway? It's a small sacrifice for a larger gain.
I just have a sneaky suspicion that those of us who didn't try to make outrageous amounts of gil and spent less time crafting are going to be screwed. I need to start leveling my craft. I only have like 500k ever, and I've at max had a mil haha and I've played since release, I think that's why at times, if I could reclaim the gil I was ripped off in early times I'd have a lot more.
Its just like most people have to replace 90% of their gear, I do too. Most of my shit is low level and I can craft it. But past that I might be spending all my money I get from liquidating the items no longer needed on getting new gear for higher levels. My highest craft is 36 I need to fix that :/ I know its my fault. It just kinda sucks being told "level a craft or be poor" There aren't any serious farming methods for battle classes to make money like there were in XI.
