Change immortal flames members icon on map from blue to black or orange

We have way too many ppl in Maelstron (and I`d guess Adders too) that are new to pvp and just there for esoterics/glamour that run straight into flames cuz they see the small blue dots on the map and think those are party members.

However, they are not. They are enemies.
This results in mass feed of noobs.

There is no reason for flame's color to be blue anyway.
Their flag is black and orange, so please pick one of these colors for the default color of flames players on the map, for a more balanced and casual friendly experiece.

You could also quite simply, teach people.

Why not change Flames to to Yellow (if you're Mael) or Red if you're Adders. Because Flames on my data center always seem to ignore the other GC you're facing, it might as well be two GCs/

I agree...although most of know the difference between the two blues there needs to be a change to make it more clear. Why have two blues when there are only three GC's and so many colors to choose from.
I have gotten confused one or twice by not paying close attention and ran into a Blue shit storm myself.
I like this idea...DEVS...go...go...go...please...pretty please...this would be any easy change for you to make.

It has fooled me a couple of times. I'm escaping from Adders, looking at minimap, "Ahh, my mates are just around the corner." *rounds corner, gets zerged by flames.*

I did that long ago.

But it only changes the enemy player's names, NOT the icons.

Besides, you can't expect the esoterics/glamour bandwagon ppl to find this option in the middle of nowhere.

So the default color should NOT be blue.

I've never understood why the colours were as follows for a Maelstrom player:

Mael - Light Blue, Green, Red
Adders - Yellow
Flames - Dark Blue

The mini map is so small that it's very difficult to always see the difference. I suppose that people with TN or differently calibrated monitors may have an even worse time due to the problems inherent in the monitors.

As a Maelstrom, it's really to see the difference in map between ally and Immortal Flame.

Probably poor foresight on SE's part, but the Flame's color is most likely dark blue because our uniforms are dark blue.

Actually the colors are pretty messed up, and it was confusing to learn. You do get used to it after a while, as I did from playing the Level 50 map and I'm sure most other people have.
But that's not the issue here, as the OP pointed out, it is NOT beginner-friendly at all.

You can at least go into the options and change the color of the Name text for each GC. That's what I did and helped me a little. But a lot of people don't even know that that option exists.
The default colors seem to have been a poor choice, after we've been trained in PVE for "blue" to mean "ally" since we grouped with our first party. Now all of a sudden it means something else, with no indication about it.

In Patch 3.2, we're planning to improve the visibility by adjusting the color tone for things such as the Grand Company icon.

Uhh... I always found the colours very distinguishable(?) Flames are a very strong blue whereas party members are significantly lighter. Also, aren't they triangles on the minimap?

Once your use to it its fine bit ya initially when I joined mael I was like wtf...

Made flames pink in the end :p

Good for you that you have perfect colour vision! However, a significant number of people don't, or have a lower quality monitor, or have trouble focusing on the minimap to check the icons carefully when they're in the middle of being pincered. Having icons which can be easily discerned at a glance instead of blue circles, blue triangles and green circles (?!?) is a core user interface consideration. This is technically a balance issue as a Maelstrom player gets blue, another blue, green and yellow on their minimap (all of these colours are in a similar range) whereas a Flames player gets blue, red, green and yellow which are obviously easier to identify without taking attention away from the battle. I am ashamed to say that such a simple thing has led to avoidable deaths on my part in the past where I haven't been able to see which areas are safe easily. Having all of the colours configurable would be a huge win for those of us who are struggling.

I changed Flames to hot pink for nametags and use orange for the Adders, which works well for me outside of the minimap. Great to hear that some fixes are on the way for the rest of the interface!

I had no problem with it, but happy for who needed it, I just hope they will make it customizable instead of just diced another color for all.
I wont' like to see in pvp what is happening for AoEs display XD

I was expressing my surprise that this was such an issue for people... as well as indirectly asking if I was the odd one out in this case. I was in no way mocking the request or encouraging that nothing be changed. I am an Adder myself so I also have both ally and enemy blues but I never experienced it as an issue personally. Regardless, I'm glad for you and everyone else who will hopefully see an improvement.
