Just as the title suggested, I personally don't think it will unbalance the game if this was release or implemented. For that matter, I feel that this will bring more depth, progression, and customization to our characters.
Basically, can we have all cross class skills unlocked to all jobs and not just to the specific jobs? Just like when it was like in 1.0.
Sure people will say even if so, players will just find the optimal way to play their job in. However, this opens up a whole lot more options for us players when we are not in raid. For example, with the new unsynced dungeons. I can now go in with my friend as my black mage and heal us through via cleric stance without having to wait for a healer to do so.
Furthermore, this will correct some issues some jobs are facing such as TP starvation and lack of AoE.
Also, we could expand on this cross class ability by adding some job ability to it? Such as the new abilities from the 3 new jobs.

Furthermore, you can use them on the go as there is cool down. So you can't really abuse it during a fight.

Eh, how you stated was how the game was originally designed in the early ages of 1.0. It didn't work out like you imagine, it was just a mess. The restrictions were put in place because it made the game a lot better for it. I know people like the illusion of free range choice and customization but its never actually utilized and kind of a waste of dev time balancing options that no one will use. What I'm hoping for is for the situation of, "Hey my buddy and I want to duo a dungeon but neither of us can heal" would be the introduction of venturing buddy NPC's (similar to chocobo companion). That's an idea which has been mentioned more than once by the dev team and might be the better solution than completely reverting and re-balancing the class system.

I don't think they should all be available, but it would be nice to see some of them expanded. Or perhaps give a bonus of some sort to those who decide to not use soul stones in exchange for more cross-class skills (since we sacrifice Job-only skills to do that, perhaps a base power boost or something?).
Personally I feel talent and spec systems are far more limiting to what I can do on a character than this cross-class system. -

I just want access to Second Wind as a MCH. Right now we're the only DPS job that CAN'T heal itself either by native or cross class skill. The only one. BLM can cross class Physick from SMN, DRG, BRD, and NIN can cross class Second Wind from MNK.
Either open up Second Wind to all physical DPS jobs, or give MCH its own. -

Personally I think the current system is very lackluster. The dev team is trying to fit everyone into this mold with little wiggle room. MMORPG strives on progress, freedom, and customization. Most long lasting mmo out there include a vast amount of all three, including RO, MS, WoW, FF11, and so on so forth. What MMO player looks for when they play MMO is to build their character the way they want. But restricting that can only lead to turn offs. I already am seeing friends reaching level 60 without anything to do and eventually shut off their subscription. SE has to realize that no amount of gating will stop a player's progress. And of course, they can't keep up with the player's progress with continuous updates. Their attempts is only going to turn players off. -
