I can't believe it wasn't mentioned. I get the feeling they're avoiding the subject altogether because they've been told not to implement it due to RMT reasons, and they know this knowledge will create a mob of angry players.

The subject of an AH I mean
you don't need a AH the market ward works fine. i have no problem finding the right gear for my class, or selling unwanted gear, i hear the MW used to be broke when there was no search options, but there is now. fixed job done move on
market wards are not fine, yes, you can find things now easy, but to enter an instance each time you need to change row is annoying. And the simple idea that all retainers are all standing there in a room have no sense.
Sorry bro, you can move on if you want to but I sure as hell won't. Unlike you, I would like an AH. The poll SE ran a long while back showed that most people wanted one too. So you go right ahead and move on if you want to, I for one, would like some new info.
not even an ah, just a counter where i can buy everything and see the transaction histories... ffs..
Yeah goodluck buying multiple items and stuff to craft with.

-That's only 3 items... if you need a full set of gear, if you need 6 items to craft one thing, etc etc... It's very time consuming and not ideal at all. Sure it "works" but to be successful means spending a lot of time comparing prices and making sure you're the lowest selling an item, exchanging items, blah blah blah it's all been said 1000x before.
-We know it works... it just stinks to high Heavens because of how much of a time sink it is.
The poll awhile back shown more people cared for a redesign than they did an AH.
They already stated they're adjusting the Market Wards and will implement a delivery system when they fix the servers, which is why they should just move the UI client side so they can incorporate the DS that much sooner. AH is unneeded as they can just continue to adjust the MW.
I just wanted some clarification on the devs position as it relates to the implementation of an AH. If they don't plan on releasing an AH, then some info on plans for the market wards would have been appreciated.
The economy is so very important in mmorpgs, I'm at a loss to explain the lack of importance the devs seem to give the subject.
Why are you surprised ?
The fact it was taken off the "things to do" list speaks volumes does it not ?
agreed maybe they could get a system where u can pick a retainer from the search and they come to you rather than you going to them. not that going to them is really that bad? so to buy 5 different items u need to go to 5 different retainers in 5 different wards, i don't know about u but this sounds like shopping to me, only this week i went to town and went in 7 different shops, because one shop did not sell everything i wanted, but sure make retainer's come to u, if your to lazy to come to them
but i would rather they work on new jobs, server issues, OO the new magitek amour, in fact just about anything rather than an AH

How do I search for specific materia slotted gear through the Market Wards after 1.19? Unless you can't sell gear with materia in it?
A good step in making Market wards better would be a option to teleport instantly to the seller once you found the item in the list that you want to purchase.
Small things like having to back out to the market ward menu after you found the item just to forget which ward it was in adds up to the annoyance and frustration with the system.
^ This. The AH option was taken off the table two or three producer's letters ago. They originally had it listed as something they were examining for possible inclusion, and then it was removed from the list a few letters later. That should tell you all you need to know.
Dont care if there is an AH but they need a tutorial for new players.
the wards are alot better than before...but still need some tweaking.
*random idea*
from the bell you simply tell your retainer to sell at the wards. don't tell them which ward...just "sell at wards"
when a player goes to the wards. there are no retainers present. there is a new instances you enter that has stalls everywhere and npcs crowding around. *loud chattering ambience in the background*
you approach any of the stands and the item search feature opens up. you find the item you want, as usual. and once you pick which retainer you want to buy from, they appear behind the counter, only the player that selected that retainer will be able to see the retainer... soon as the retainer appears the retainer can say some sales pitch (that a player could of put in as a comment on their retainer like "Having a sale on level 30 rings...only x amount of gil"...after the pitch... the bazaar automatically opens up and you can select the item you wanted to buy just like usual. after your done and exit out of the bazaar, the retainer disappears and your back to the search item feature.
all they need to do is make it so you can buy directly from the item search counter from any of the 3 citys wards. if all three were linked then people would use different wards(not just uldah).
Grid and LL wards are just safe havens for crafts bots right now. i went in there yesterday and 2 people were botting in one ward.
Just the fact that there are constant wars on these boards about this exact topic should tell the devs that it's not an issue that should get pushed aside.
maybe it wasn't mentioned because it's not happening?
...what a shocker considering it's not needed.
They announce they add new content:
Wars ignite.
They announce they're adding jobs to FFXIV:
Wars ignite.
They announce anything, wars ignite. They stated time and time again an AH will not fix anything and that they're working on the MW. Read the dev tracker, read what our reps Bayo and Rikki translate, they do it for a reason.
Holy cow. Seriously, are we not capable of discussing a subject without getting juvenile? What is the point of these flamed responses? Do you enjoy arguing with people on a message board?
Let's keep this civil people. I know this subject has been beat to death, but to me, that just tells me that it's something that the playerbase considers extremely important.
UGH, you people need to learn to read!
This Q&A was about two things and ONLY two things:
Personal questions for Yoshi-P
Info about Patch 1.19
Since there is obviously going to be no AH in patch 1.19, why would they answer questions about it.
There is going to be another live Q&A in late October / early November to talk about 1.20 and beyond. THAT is where you'll hear about AH/Market Ward improvements, as well as linkshell administrative functionality, party search, etc.
And it was NOT taken off the to do list. The to do list we see is for everything up to 1.20. There is another to do list that will be about 1.21+, and market ward improvements/alternatives will be there.
Once again, READING IS FUNDAMENTAL
I didn't flame anyone or call names, nothing like that. Just stated the facts, facts that I've been saying since day one, facts that the dev team seems to have acknowledged as well.
The whole AH argument has been made time and time again since this games release and the simple fact is that the wards do (almost) everything an AH could do, you just need to walk to a retainer to pick up your items instead of buying from a menu.
people having problem reading is because they woke up too early, go back and sleep some more haha
A poll can be a misconception or lied. There are ways to manipulate a poll vote. Here's let me make it child friendly for you to understand:
Pros of having an AH:
Easy access
Easy search.
Easy to find items such as HQ.
Supply and demand (number of items) takes effect on it's own showing how many are selling = less or more likely to lower/raise price meaning if there are more of that item chances are price falls, less of that item, price rises.
There aren't annoying people listing 999,999,999.
Proper Item price history.
Supply & demand common sense applied to community.
Benefiting for crafters quickly getting the items needed to craft.
Little to no lag searching the item needed and bought.
Cons of having an AH:
RMT Camp the AH and or using bots scripts buying/selling/ of the following: AH price control (aka supply and demand), buying items off players who mistakenly or accident list a price bought off and resold for a full price.
When items on at are "0" players can manipulate prices by selling their own item and buying under their name to reset or change price history.
Best solution would be to have GM to be put to work investigating suspicious behavior of people messing with the AH.
Pros of having wards:
Finally able to search for items.
List of characters who are selling it.
Statistics lowest/highest for sale.
Different sections department (subject) of items/equipment that are sold).
Able to have two retainers to hold/sell items.
Cons of having wards:
Takes mass of amount of time of searching, gathering multiple items, and warping to the seller.
Most sellers obnoxiously sell their items in SPAM of "999,999,999" to show off or annoy.
There is no price history.
Economy constantly fluctuates making it difficult to know if a buyer/seller is getting ripped off or not.
Lag polluted area of retainers.
Backwards to selling and buying and waste of time in an all around concept. It's like saying Let's make productive cars slower instead of faster.
Without proper supply and demand of a Auction house, people can instantly put up a retainer selling an item lower/higher price that ruins another person in a competitive matter.
Please excuse my typing, haven't had my coffee yet :p
Forget about it, I don't care to argue about any subject on these boards let alone this.
This is your opinion, and that's okay - it's why we're here. It doesn't, however, make it right. The overwhelming majority of AH supporters say that we simply need more convenience. I don't mind that you're okay with the way it is, just understand that a lot of us are not.
I could care less if we get an AH or not, I just want something that works similarly without all the inconvenience.
It doesn't matter at this point though because it's true that this live letter was not meant to address things beyond 1.19, so let's move on.
whats funny is most of the posts in these "Wars" are by the same 5-6 people who just dont know how to shut up and have to counter argue every single person who doesnt agree with their AH views(granted it goes both ways)
half the AH threads are 10-15 users making a 500+ post thread with a few random(and extremely flamed) people posting in between
Everything you say about an AH is either already in the wards, will be added to the wards after 1.20, or could easily be added to the wards current functionality. We do not need an AH.
Thanks for being once again being insulting to those who disagree with you, Foulu.
Getting rid of the places they bot won't get rid of botters. As long as there is a desire for high ranked classes, crafted items, gathered items, etc., and people who know how to create a program for botting, plus the desire to use that knowledge, there will be bots.
