Thank you.
Pretty sure the only way to fix this is to get people to actually queue for PVP.
Well then, you guys should really try it. Too much fun you're missing out on. I used to never PVP til this game XD
They can't fix the PvP queues if nobody wants to PvP.
SE on all things concerning PvP and the ques:

They're clearly not listening and they clearly don't care.
I am thinking we either have to all show SE that we DO like their PVP and care for it, or give up hope. I hope we don't have to resort to the latter, but the future is looking bleak.
My queue times for Seize have been good. Usually 5 minutes, sometimes 10 during primetime.
Twin Adder has the lowest queues, Flames the highest
the problem is not enough ppl doing pvpv- its the grand company restrictions! The queues are long b/c theres too many people queuing in on different grand companies. main reason don't pvp is the long queue times if they remove the GC restrict- queues would be less than 5 mins.
I'm considering making the switch then, I just might after achievements lol
I have no hard evidence, but I'm pretty sure you're PVP rank affects your queue time as well. Last summer, when I was obsessed with Frontlines, it was VERY noticeable how my PVP friends (same server, same GC, same data center) would get much faster queues than I would when I was over rank 30 and some of them were just starting out (and lower than rank 10).
Those of you with really high queue times I'm interested in knowing which GC and datacenter you are in as well as your rank. Some presume the GC restriction is the sole reason for longer queue times but I feel that might not be the case entirely. As for me on Marlboro (Primal Data center), Immortal Flames and rank 34 my queue times around five minutes, I even got put into a Secure the other day in less than 10m.
However I keep seeing people talk of hour+ queue times during primetime. It's possible they try to match similarly ranked players but I've queued with my FC mates at same time but different GCs and been dropped in the same battle despite some of them being around rank 10 and one is max rank.
To my knowledge on our server many people jumped ship to Maelstrom during the BLM stacking heydays of yore and my friend complained of longer queue times. So it's possible people migrated to a "winning" GC but as a result you are competing for spots among everyone else who jumped on the gravy train to 1st place wins and have longer queues as a result.
The actual amount of people interested in PvP so far as the entire playerbase is concerned is quite small, so out of the limited pool of people if several migrated to another GC to get more wins then they caused the increase in queue times for that GC. From what I can tell the actual spread of GC populations as a whole is not that wide but among the PvP community it does appear there are some favorites.
Removing the GC restrictions or replacing it with something else would be a possible fix to level out queue times but then they would need to retcon the entire reason we are in there in the first place. It's also likely to increase the amount of premades full of FC members/etc using Voice chat to obtain an advantage over those who solo queued as they could coordinate far more effectively. I'm aware this already happens but it would increase beyond what it is now and I don't know if anyone has fun going up against a team that is decimating you at every turn.
But even if you could join a merc team as others have suggested it would lead to the same issue of whichever teams seems to be winning the most would see an influx of members and thus longer queue times. The only real fix to queue times in this case is to make it a pointless free-for-all with no real alliance other than whomever it queued you in with.
As much as Square can do, they can't make people like PvP. And they have tried! There's two different unique mounts, the latest set of PvP armors have some genuinely decent stats with Morale being pushed into a fifth stat, making the new PvP sets the only gear outside of aetherial and certain healer pieces to have 5 stats. There's just no want for PvP save by a small, if vocal, minority.
It's not that great. It's actually pretty boring. I want more interactions in the siege modes other than, click this thing and protect it while zerg facing everything.
Games strong suit definitely ain't PvP. Cannot be solved unless they make a PvP actually worth trying and not a reskin of previous ones.
Also, GC restrictions kill a lot of peoples wanting to play.
Side note: I get in Siege in no time and lose as usual. Twin Adders suck.
IMO it has been fixed... ^^;
The queue is super fast as Adders on Aether. I can't speak for other GCs though.
Casters aren't the ones that have a hard time, Black Mages and Summoners are huge assholes.
Fixed that for you.
Also honest question for those clamoring for the removal of GC restriction. What team will you be on? Random team A/B/C?
Do they take the horse mounts from everyone and just give them a generic PvP horse mount? Rework all achievements? It's not as simple as you make it sound and I've seen precious few viable alternatives.

I am on Behemoth (Primal Data Center) and am in the Twin Adders. I was getting 5-10 minute ques. At the most it was about 20-25. Just leveled crafting/gathering in between ques and did other stuff. Nice for the Esoterics and Law.
Easy solutions to fix pvp...
1) Remove the stupid GC restriction. You would have alot more people do it if they could play with their friends/guilds ingame.
- I was in Limsa, Average que 24-30mins, changed to Grid and <5mins everytime. (This is a SE created problem)
2) Make it drop something besides vanity gear.
If that happened pvp would be fixed. Honestly the new pvp is actually quite fun, there is just not much reason to do it outside capping seals unless you just want to pvp. SE is causing 2 issues. Pushing away the progression ppl and pushing people away in general with the GC restriction.
Officer in my FC(Maelstrom) had an hour in queue earlier as AST.
Went BLM, instant.
I think the long queues is mostly due to the GC people are in.
As a Maelstrom in Balmung, I get a queue time of 10 minutes or less for my GC PvP matches on Seal Rock.
It is possible that the long queue time is due to Immortal and Adder being both the heavy populated GC of FF14.
I don't know what is the population now in 2015 but back in 2014 the data showed Maelstrom being the least populated while the other 2 had 10% more than Maelstrom

pvp ques perfectly fine on jp realms.
i dread getting holmgang'ed by a warrior ready to stuff 2 fell cleaves down my throat
of the 3 GC leaders i'd say that Maelstrom has the manliest leader. IM's has braids, and the Twin Adder's original recruitment poster in 1.0 had a very well endowed Nophica. Manliness turning away the majority of players.

welll... PVP is booooooring! :I
I once joined a match, over a year ago.
Not even 5 mins later... I left and never joined again.
I'd actually like to see what lore SE can invent that merges the GCs together or removes then from the picture when it comes to pvp.
I am sorry but I find this post ignorant and foolish. They have not tried to fix ques. They have intentionally bottle necked ques with the system in place. They have also done nothing to explain why some people are prioritized others. Everyone above rank 40 knows the problem and they refuse to do anything. Then we have people like you perpetuating false truths.
One remove Grand company requirement, two remove any other hidden calculators. Set one mode with this requirement and we will see how fast ques are. I have seen nights with over 100 people in que across multiple linkshells not get into any matches all qued with the same settings. Why do you think all 100 people sat in que when it only takes 72 to start a game?
The only problem with PvP is that they only offer PvP rewards.
Shoud they have put allied seals in it back when the hunt was created, everybody would have queued for PvP instead of waiting for several-hour long pop.
Besides, the population in three GC are not that far from each other, so there's no reason the GC requirement makes the waiting time that long. People...just...don't...want...to...participate...enough.
Really Grand Company is not the problem? When Both North American data centers report the same issue. One grand company less then 5 mins other two with 30+. Unless i am missing something you know. That looks like one is deficient to me.
Yes the zerg flavour of the month would help ques for awhile. Maybe even out the ques enough for people long term. This does not address the issue.
If the image below is still relevent, it shouldn't be "one GC less than 5 mins, the other two with 30+"
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/a...9&d=1413527441
And I really doubt everybody moved to the same GC because "It's doing better at PvP"
I suppose some people would like to do some PvP, but probably don't because "PvP waiting time is atrocious". So, by NOT doing it, they only make waiting time even longer. If Frontlines gave interesting rewards outside of PvP, then more people would do it, thus reducing queue times, thus encouraging more people to participate, further reducing waiting times, and so on and so forth...
