Is there anyone who picked this up that can comment on any changes compared to the normal Draught chocobo. Or is it just a red version and nothing more?

red version and nothing more it seems
IIRC I think the amber one can actually fly, but the regular one can not. But not 100% sure, I need to go home and check when i get off work.
I want a chocobo that uses roller skates instead of running.
Kind of weird that they would not just make it fly at once, but perhaps later. Maybe they don't wanna implement a new flying one before the others they have "promised" can fly aswell. Equality hell yeah!
Edit: just realised that Twintania is new and can fly... Hmm...
They've explained before that they don't want to create a situation where one player (who has not unlocked flying in a zone yet) can pair up with another player and be moved to locations that are not yet accessible for them. Sadly, that seems to imply the two-player mounts will never fly.
Are you asking me if they could, or asking me if I believe they would bother to go through that effort? Because those are different answers.
Edit: What was the last word on the wedding ring functionality in expansion zones (which people actually paid real money for) ?

That would be pretty cool.
I was on a two person mount and fell in a hole off the map.. The chocobo started flying (in place). Though that doesn't mean up/down/turns have animations.. Hopefully they are just programming in checks to ensure both players can fly before allowing the draught mounts to take off.
Are you referring to FC airships? I don't think those are going to be taking you around the existing HW game zones. As for being game breaking or not, that's ultimately the developer's call (and they've been clear about where they stand on this). I'm not saying there aren't better ways to do it, just pointing out why it is the way it is. It's never going to be a case of "oh, just turn on flying" for these chocobos, there's a lot more work than that which would need to be done first.
They should just make it so that it cant fly if the second person on it doesn't have flying unlocked for the map.
Explain it as something like.. "The winds are too rough for an inexperienced rider". I mean having a person on the back not knowing what they're doing and shaking all over the place while flying would be a problem.
They aren't adding two-player flying mounts, because there is no way to dismount IN MID-AIR. Imagine if the person controlling the mount flew into the air and went AFK. You couldn't dismount as you would from a ground mount. You would be stuck in the air with no way to get down.
In WoW, you could actually dismount in mid-air, and fall all the way back down (usually killing yourself from fall damage). That isn't an option in FFXIV for flying mounts, so the passenger would literally be stuck unless they added in a parachute feature.
Solution: Allow use of Return/Teleport while sitting in the passenger seat.
Problem: Solved.
Yeah, there are solutions. But they don't have them in yet, to my knowledge, and who knows if they will ever add them in. My gold magitek mount still doesn't have a cannon to shoot, and the Sahagin mount doesn't spit water yet. There are at least 9 mounts they are supposed to add flying to, and they are supposedly working on a flying mount roulette ability.
Oh, the flying fat chocobo gave me an idea. Just like cake can make a fat bird fly, we need to figure out the proper incentive to getting the mount team to hurry up with these things.
Actually, won't work until the ringporting person has 100% map exploration. Don't think the ringport target needs to have that, though.
And if the ringport target is currently airborne, you will end up by the aetheryte in the area (not sure where you end up in Hinterlands, though, since that area doesn't have an aetheryte).
Edit: Now that I think about it, it's possible the ringporting person ends up where the target took off. I've only teleported once (to Western Coerthas) and ended up by the aetheryte, so I figured that was always the case. Never tested it out, though.
