If you've beaten the Main Scenario, you should have the option to carry that over.

When you create a new character you have to start over from scratch which is fine, however for those who have completed the Main Scenario, there should be an 'option' when you create your character to have your character already completed these Main Scenario quests and it sets up your character just like it would be if you had.

It would give more incentive towards people making more characters (more money for SE with the full on subscription) if this was the case. It's namely a quality of life thing, however. I personally don't want to redo the story each time I create a character and feel this idea would do a lot of good for those who like multiple characters and just want to jump into the game unrestricted.

I prefer leveling via dungeons, leves, and FATEs then I do doing the same fetch quests over and over. Wasting time having to skip cutscenes walking from Point A to Point B. It's fun the first time, but gets dull afterwards.

Number 2 in particularly proves that there is no argument to be had that this helps RMT in anyway. If an account is banned on one char, it's banned on the entire account itself. RMTs never use multiple characters on one account. They get banned anyway.

And make it easier for RMT to jump into the new areas? No thanks. Besides, what would be the point of having a new level 1 character be able to go into the 3.0 areas?

You act like this even matters at all. It doesn't. The RMT would have to beat the Main Scenario to do this, I'm rather tired of hearing why certain things cannot be added to the game due to fear of RMT. Guess what? RMT is in the game, doing such and such in fear of RMT only hinders us as players.

I can understand it for the sake of using the 3 new jobs right off the bat (or as soon as you hit 30/50) to use the class, but I honestly can't understand why anyone would have more than 1 character, if you do that's fine and hope you enjoy. I just don't see it myself.

I really doubt they would consider this kind of suggestion. Mainly because of how everything is unlocked on a quest-by-quest basis and that there may be complications with how the way the game is coded. Who knows? The game also already kinda lightly enforces the idea of doing everything on one character. It's a choice though. If you want everything on separate characters, you're free to do as you please. You'll just need to trudge through the MSQ again.

I mean, sure, but they vastly increased the XP for MSQ quests. You literally have to do nothing else and you can hit fifty in, like, a day or two, of just hitting escape during talk scenes. There's still a few quests that are boring/silly/stupid (yes, lets dance for everyone in this village, that is a good use of my time, Yda. Thank you), but they're worth doing because you'll level faster doing them than anything else you could do.

Edit: Though I wouldn't mind if all the MSQ locked stuff was unlocked on alts. Would make getting retainers on alts much faster/easier.

Free retainer space, with item transfer through FC chest.

Or, I guess, people use them for RP.

Or a friend wants to try the game but can't get onto your server and doesn't want to pay for a transfer until they know it's good.

Or you just want to look different but don't want to change your main 'cause you still like that one.

Or someone starts playing and you want to go through the MSQ with them rather than just bum around next to them on an armoury bonused character that can't do any of their quests or level alongside them properly.

And this (other than the RP thing, ironic, considering I'm on Balmung) is why I have like 9 alts. Only two have gotten any real levels though.

I think it would be nice to have an option to copy your character's progress onto a new character if you want to make an alt or play with friends on a different server, excluding rewards and titles from seasonal/special events and whatnot. I just don't see it happening soon, but maybe after the next expansion or two probably.

RMT ? beat MSQ with total of 6h (skip every CS and dialog from 2.0) and get character ban shortly after ? they might but that ll take them a while and not effective.

And no, I don't think it hinder anyone but you, who want to make 2nd character for w/e reason but don't want to re-do quest (even if quest is interesting, I bet this thread still pop up on the forum) and the ppl who want to rush to end game content.

Yes I would've loved this.
I have 3 characters, and after I got all of them to 50 I hated the story even more than I did before I started.
Now I've gone through the new story with my main characted, and my other alt is at lvl 58, and then I need to do it one more time :c
If I could just tie that together, and achievements so they share too I'd be content.
Oh and i want to be able to send things to my alts, not having to go through the FC chest or friends

I would be ok with when that make lockouts class based not character based, otherwise no. Honestly that's how things should work anyways.

Vs grinding fates? most definitely. I personally wish all the side quest would reset when you switched jobs. Would rather mindlessly grind fetch quests than fates.

Yeah, there are several valid reasons for playing an alternate character.
Even wanting to replay the story because last time you did 2.0 story-line was well over a year ago.

But I really don't understand why you would pass on the VAST amounts of EXP MSQ gives, it's really enormous.

I have started an alt to try out Au'Ra and replay the story, and I did NOT need to touch a single side-quest, leve or fate (except for those unlocking dungeons and leveling second job) till level 30something. It took but a few hours to get there without any sort of armory bonus, without replaying dungeons (outside of the roulette twice or so). It's incredible how fast it goes.

I'd love to create an alt or multiple, just for the sake of playing a different race, having a different appearance / animation. I still like my main ofc, but I'd really like to have some variety. However, the mere thought of having to go through all of the story fetch quests again is just too dreadful. So yeah, I approve of this idea of having an option to skip (if you've already beaten MSQ content on one char before)

Lots of reasons.
There are lots of different races, with one character you can only play one (unless you fantasia but then you dont have your old one left)
More retainers, more armoury space
Alts dont share caps, meaning I can get an item for my main and 2 alts every week. I can get items from savage and normal alexander on all my characters.
Roleplaying reasons. I have an alt who only play tank classes only because my main is a skinny miqote, she can't do much tanking

I think this guy got it right. If the devs wanted you to have all the perks of having an alt whilst not having to replay the game, they would provide you with those perks already. Easy race and name change button, more bag space, more retainers, class specific tome caps and loot lockouts etc. The point of an alt is to replay the game. We can already have all classes on one character so in this game it means playing as a different race/gender and without the power we have acquired on our main characters.

If someone is serious about roleplaying, it makes sense that they go through the story again. The character is not an extension of your real life self, but a fictional person. He/she who has not done the deeds of a Warrior of Light but calls him/herself one is just a fake hero. A fraud. There's actually a small story portion about it in La Noscea.

But, damn, you'd need A LOT of time for playing with thee characters and capping them each week and that stuff.... And the effort not that worth it, you don't have the crafters and gatherers 60 in all your characters... Etc... Isn't it just throw effort and time away?

I'd like something opposite of this.

I'd like the option to re-do the MSQ quests when leveling other jobs on your character.

Maybe an option added to the book in the inn room that says something like "start questing from here".

Haven't you seen the threads where people complain because they cap the first day and have nothing to do.
If they had 3 characters, they would be busy 3 days! But then again, they would complain they have nothing to do

I'm planning to let one of my alts do the crafting and gathering, because she's only a tank so she has lots of space for mats. My main has inventory full of things to glamour. so i don't craft with her

I really don't agree with this.

I get the issue, but in the end you are making a new character and it doesn't make any sense to carry anything over a previous character did. If they were to carry over MSQ progress, why stop there? Why not just boost all the characters to the level my first character is at? How about Coil/Alex progress? Titles? Minions? Grand Company progress? Where does it stop?

That's your personal opinion, I personally despise fetch quests more. Besides, you don't need FATEs to get EXP, I run dungeons and levequests.

Honestly, I don't see why we can't have both of what we desire, though. Having quests reset? Sounds good to me, what I want doesn't effect that all.

Other people feel differently, like some people prefer doing fetch quests, I on the other hand absolutely don't like doing them at all. Once I do them the first time it feels very uninteresting and dull just walking around and talking to NPCs I already know the dialogue too when I could be actually fighting things at my own pace and not the pace of the story.

I also can level very swiftly and I enjoy doing dungeons and other ways to level up by comparison.

I disagree. Just because something isn't in the game already doesn't mean the devs think the way you're stating. This forum has suggested tons of things the devs didn't even consider they ended up adding to the game. Either way, my suggestion doesn't have "All the perks" of the previous character. It just makes it so you don't have to mindlessly fetchquest stories we've already completed.

I can play the game at my own pace, something I've already earned and nothing that adds to the game experience a second time on a new character.

Those things are completely different. Those things actually effect game balance, my suggestion applies only to Main Scenario which doesn't do anything. It stops there. I also don't care if someone starts suggesting "boost all characters to max cause my other char has it", cause obviously that's a bad idea and won't get far. My idea makes the game more enjoyable for people like me without any effect on balance, in fact it also helps Square Enix as it gives more people a reason to buy the full subscription and not the 12.99 one.

Main Scenario is personal, completely unlike those things that effect other people.

Again, you're not really thinking it through. There are certain limitations to this. Namely, the fact that you can't complete level 60 quests with a level 1 character. Some of the MSQ quests also unlock other functions of the game. How are you going to implement it without breaking the game?

Things are not done just because "I want it this way, gimme". I've already thought that over, they are the developers and owners of this game. They could easily set all the key items and variables on your character when you select an option on character creation to 1 or whichever the way the game is coded in to On. When you complete a quest or dungeon, a variable on your character gets altered, it's all numbers and code. It's just all of it would happen at once instead of at many different parts.

If you're level 1, of course you can't do level 60 dungeons. This isn't for new characters that haven't completed the story, this is for an account that has already and has nothing to gain from doing the story mode again other than to fetch quests for EXP.

It's an option that would benefit people.

Huh? I don't speak for those people, not everyone likes multiple characters but just because not everyone does, doesn't mean there are people that do.

Why else would someone want another character? Because they dislike having it? That would make no sense at all. Of course having multiple characters is to appease people that actually enjoy having multiple characters.

Fact is, the option to create multiple characters are a feature in this game regardless if you or anyone else dislikes using that option.
