Level Progression Flaw in 3.0

I do not know if this was intended or just fell through the cracks but characters, for me my Alts, have been level progressing even though they do not have access to Ishgard and its surroundings. I am now reaching the point where I cannot do GC turn ins due to the fact that that I cannot access the gathering points. I do not plan to make the effort to get to Heavensward any time in the near future with these Alts as most of my progression there will be on my main for the foreseeable future. SE if you are going to continue this policy then access should be account wide not just per character for completion of 2.55.

They did mention that for a character to pass from lvl 50 you only need to have Heavensward enabled on your account.
If your account has Heavensward enabled, then they will be able to level up past 50 even if they are not in the Heavensward Storyline.

I like this when it comes to leveling alts because they benefit a lot from rested exp. Also, I have a lot of alts where they are stuck in pre 2.0 storyline, but have leveled beyond 50 thanks to leveling roulette. A lvl 57 scholar on titan normal mode... haha.

I am aware of that. It doesn't mean that these characters have access to Heavensward though. They should or the characters should have been flagged for non progression until they completed the requirements. That was and still is the fallacy of linking new areas access to completion of storyline progression. People who are primarily DoL or DoH or who have Alts that are are SoL beyond a certain point.

Gather the items on the main, transfer them to the alts (friend, FC storage or a 2nd account), profit

Why? One of SE's selling points for the game is that you can be what you want to be at any time. I do not care to take any of these characters beyond lv 50 or the initial main story line. I wanted to have be crafters and gathers and my Main is my DoW character. Forcing me to level these characters beyond that point or wasting time doing what you suggest defeats the whole purpose of these characters.

The mere fact that they put DoL (and by extension DoH) items behind story gates should tell you that this isn't completely the case. It's not like SE did it on accident. DoL leves locked behind DoW/DoM leves should have been the first clue they consider DoL/DoH secondary to DoW/DoM, and by extension alts were never meant to be anything anytime.

Yeah, the "warrior of light can actually be a carpenter main" idea was a holdover from 1.0 and was dropped by 2.0. Your character, the WoL, needs to be a battle class. 3.0 was built along the idea of the WoL finishing the 2.0 storyline, and if the carpenter WoL hasn't done that, they don't get access to 3.0 and all its goodies.

that's 100% your choice. nobody forced you to make that decision. you have to deal with all of the things that come with making that choice.

It's true, as a primary crafter I have come to expect it in this game. While it would be an atrocity in gaming to force a Blm or Lancer to craft, forcing a Weaver to Blm or Lance is quite acceptable.

Edit: on a side note I really think they should make the new areas accessible to all characters account wide and just lock the advanced jobs and quests story and other behind MSQ.

This is another dumb idea, in 2.0, you can level all crafts and gathering jobs to 50, even if your DoW or DoM class is not yet 50. All areas are not locked behind MSQ to progress, you can freely access them. Some people are not meant for the "activities" part of this game, but they love the crafting, let them be.... Don't force these groups to crowd the duty finder causing major stress for everyone else because they are not well prepared for the mechanics.

You don't technically need to be able to enter HW areas... You can use the market board to procure the items you need for GC Supply and Provisioning missions.

I have my main and three alts with HW acess. Would make no sense to be able to acess Ishgard and beyond without having done the story. Maybe in the future, like 4.0 or if we ever get new starting areas or something, but gor now... nah.

Have you tried the market board? I have a level 55 miner and a host of crafters around 52 to 54. The only things I've mined since HW were some odd HQ mats in 2.0 areas to craft some items whose market board prices had scaled higher then I wanted to pay for them.

Better than 90% of those levels has come from GC turn-ins...some for over 500k a pop with HQ items. If not for the odd crafting for things like ingots/whetstones to sell/craft to make items for which I didn't want to pay high MB prices, those jobs would have leveled completely off of GC rewards.

Just saying....you have options. Only have yourself to blame if you aren't using them.

Ya know, from the Lodestone I see your 'main' DoW character is a level 60 Dragoon. You also have every single craft and gatherer at 50 or higher. Are you really going to pull the wool over our eyes and pretend that your 'main' is DoW only? Because it's not.

MSQ progression gates affect every class/job in HW, so it's a different (if related) argument. But in 2.0, they still made the quests to unlock an area's leves a DoW/DoM leve. So even if it wasn't as strictly enforced as HW, SE has always, I would argue obviously, considered crafting second to activities in ARR. A subset of players might disagree that DoW/M is prioritized over DoL/H, but that's the stance SE is taking.

Defeating Garlemald, the Ascians, and the Primals with the power of crafting and gathering deserves to be a game in and of itself. A group of carpenters blockading a kobold priest from performing his summoning ritual by ninja constructing the worlds toughest wooden blockade would be hilarious.

Edit: All crafters in said game must be lalafells.

Help! I'm leveling so fast that I can't use a daily turn-in to level faster!

It's not that bad I'm leveling my 7 Alts currently from 1-60 now after the 3.0 MSQ update. I've already leveled 2 characters to 60 after my weekly caps. With Roulettes,Challenge Logs, MSQ exp.
