I want YOU! (Queue hero music)

Why don't people pvp??? So many subscribers and 30 minute wait queues.

In pvp you test yourself against real players not brain dead pve mechanics! Come join the fun and fill the queues!

You think pve is fun? Well! In pvp the battle is that much more entertaining when you fight someone with a brain!

Many reasons to PVP!!!

-Gain new tomes!!!
-Make friends and enemies!
-Gain fame by either being inept or majestic! xD
-You know those hardcore guys that farm extreme raids etc? Well! You can now face them!
-FUN!

So join the fight and queue up!

it's not that people don't want to, it's because of the GC restrictions lol
I'd love to PVP but those timers are horrible @_@ it's not always 30 mins queues, sometimes it takes longer than that

I don't have the reflexes for it, pure and simple. Tried pvp in many MMOs over the last 12 years and I just have not got the manual dexterity to move like good pvpers.
Combine that with the fact I can't even party up for it with my personal friends or most of my FC because of the STUPID GC restrictions and that's the end of that.

This new mode is so much fun. I've been quite negative about the game recently but this has picked me up on such a huge scale.

People tend to prefer PVE in a PVE oriented game.

But it has great pvp potential :) Back when the pvp cap was 30 the community was awesome. Everyone played together and knew each other. Now with new frontlines I'm surprised not many people want to try it.

I think the main reason PvP is not that big in FFXIV is due to the skill cooldowns. PvP feels slow compared to other MMOs where PvP have a bigger focus.
Ofc I am basing my opinion on all the "FFXIV feels slow" comments I've read so many times from ppl giving FFXIV a try.

Edit: I started my own PvP career today and sure it feelsd slower then other MMOs I've played, but I am really enjoying this. But, like with all games, not everyone have a brain. -heh-

Playing a Paladin in PvP is so absurdly boring. It's nice that the PvP Animal gear no longer requires a Rank to purchase however I still cannot find any motivation to drag this class into another dull arena.

I've been enjoying the new PvP mode myself. I need to find time to stop PvPing and start levelling Scholar again, since that's my favourite class to PvP with. Not at 60 yet though!

With brain huh? I just remember when first time Savage mode come, all people play as BLM and spam Cometeor on all places.

But I didn't tried this mode, soon I'm gonna try as SCH as always :)

EDIT: If you like instance PvP, come to JP server. People is still active to PvP here.

Except that no one ever attacks you when they see your Sword And Board. The best you can ever do is support (Cover, Chain Stun, Flash Blind, Provoke). Once you've used those up you're just a Tin can no needs to bother with.

trust me, when you annoy the hell out of every caster in proximity, everyone wants to kill you.

there's also the go out and be a rabbit to distract a large detachment. keeps them occupied for the half a minute to a minute they're trying to kill you.

Healing is so boring in PvP... Normally when people see healers they zerg them down right away. And I can't even DPS anymore. My Stone IIIs hit for like 130 while DRGs were backstabbing me for 9k, which is almost my max HP. None of my other jobs are geared enough for PvP either.

I would but 2.5 sec GCD? PvP can't be that fun with a slow system like that. I come from Aion where it's fast paced with combos and what not.

No interest. The only thing that COULD bring me into pvp is the ADS mount (no, of course I'm not still bitter my most-wanted mount is locked behind a game mode I have never cared about) but the GC restriction prevents me even from giving a damn on THAT level since I'm in the Flames and my friends are, shockingly, a mix of all three GCs.

Aether Data Center and on Adders, I get near insta queues to <5m wait time with the new mode. I don't know the numbers, but it doesn't seem like there are many people compared to other GCs in the Adders.

Still, I'm having a blast and hopefully interest PvP population will remain steady after the hype has died down.

As for why people don't PvP I can only talk about myself:
* Wolves den was not fun at all. You can spend a while waiting for queue to pop and once you get in it's over in less than a minute. Not too much strategy
*Frontlines: Secure was pretty good. Each job/class has it's own role to play, but was pretty repetitive. Still, queue was reasonable especially during prime times
*Slaughter .... Cometeor spam killed it. Since then queue has been very long

If you cannot do damage as Paladin and feel useless you should try playing more because this is untrue. I main a pally and have pvp'd since the cap was 30, it is probably the most op, I always felt I can do serious damage with this class especially in 1 vs 1. And against groups you can buff defence and make them chase you endlessly, wasting their time until some reinforcements come or you down a player before dying. Class is very nice for pvp.

Full swing > Shield Bash > fast blade > Spirits within > savage blade > circle of scorn > royal authority > Shield bash > Glory slash > any mage and dps half dead or more if caught uninterupted in that combo.

You mentioned hero music...and all I heard was Guile's Theme start up immediately!

As it stands right now, we're dealing with queuing an action and having the server register we've made that action 2-3 seconds later. This, and terrible packet loss for an incredibly high sample of characters that manifests as players and enemies warping around the field of play ever 5 to 15 seconds or so.

PvP is frustrating, nothing else to be added to this, never knew you can make friends in FFXIV, i have yet to find *friends* people dont talk just get in and move out...PvP wont change this fact...if you like it good for you but saying is THE place to be is, as far as I am concerned, not really exactly true.

People never warp for me, only sometimes when someone lags. The queue is horrible, that's why i wish more played:p

Why I don't pvp? Its boring its just people running away from each other running and gunning sure the new gear from it looks good but not spending my time grinding to rank 50 just to wear it.

We all have different experiences with the game:) PvP circle had very nice and cool people in wolves den some years ago.

Aside from the GC restriction giving me obnoxiously long queue times (on the day of release no less!) The presentation of the mode itself annoys me in some aspects.

-Node spawns. It's utterly demoralizing when you see three nodes spawn on one side of the map, one of them being A rank and is on a bottle-necked node? Doesn't help later on when you have S rank nodes that spawn next a team that already has two nodes settled in.

-THE GODAMMNED ELEVATION. You know why they stopped designing boss fights on uneven terrain? It messes up AoE targetting. This is especially the case for ranged LB because I've had it missed, on a target I recently bounded with foot graze. And he was still bounded afterwards! The entire area is filled with some sort of incline or decline in terrain, even a 1-ilm difference will render your LB useless (which is definitely the case considering the node placements...)

I'd like to pvp once in a while (I definitely enjoyed doing the Arena while I was 30 on my bard) but yes the huge queue really turns me off everytime and it's a shame since it's a nice distraction now and then.

PS: What if they allow us to upgrade armors via PvP? That would certainly boost the pvp queues a whole lot! I'd rather do PvP than hunting that's for sure.

that might get people doing it.

I think 2 decades of MMO face smashing is more than enough for me. Its probably why I chose a much more heavily PVE orientated MMO this time around. Don't get me wrong, its fun here and there but its just not my main focus this time. =)
