I'm confused - I didn't see any new alchemist recipes listed (other than a couple in the section about reducing output of recipes) but I see tons of alchemist ingredients listed in the section of "stuff which will no longer have recipes."
Was this just an accident or an oversight? I don't think I missed them cause I used the search function in my web browser.
How will we be making paralyzing potions (for example) without paralyzing powder, jellyfish cnida, or black scorpions? Are a bunch of the things we make just being fully removed from the game?
With the huge list of things being removed for alchemist, I am wondering if there will even be anything left to craft? Please let us know what is going on.

I think it was an odd choice to remove so many of the base ingredients required by alchemy before releasing the alchemy changes. IMO, those items (and any for Culinarian) should have been kept in game until the next patch. I don't mind them getting rid of the items for the crafts they did already adjust.
The rationale perhaps was to not make alchemists craft up things like dye that will no longer have a use to the other crafts. However, with no new recipes for alchemists to craft, and so much removed ahead of time, alchemists won't have much to craft with at all in the meantime. Can you imagine if they had adjusted all melee jobs except lancer and said "oh sorry - we will update you next patch, but we pulled most of your actions now anyway?" -

Well, it would be bad enough if they left the items there to be gathered and crafted (though still pretty crappy to have most of your items be useless for everyone else)
Are we getting dyes taken away from us? I've only seen players post about them not changing alchemy and cooking. I would really like to see a rep explain exactly how this is supposed to work.
I understand alchemy is not the most popular job, but making it unplayable for months is not very nice. -

It isn't forever - they are adding new recipes in the next patch - and for all we know, perhaps they will add them in one of the mini patches they do between major patches.
For the OP - you will still be able to level your Alchemist through leves and using up any existing items with the old recipes. I agree that it sucks - I am in the middle of bringing my alchemy up too and I am probably going to just shelve it after my supplies run out, at least until the next patch. -

While jellyfish cnida is being removed, there are alternate ways to make that same resulting item, at the same level (ALC27).Quote:

Unless, of course it refers to a past and/or current action which will cease, the use of "no longer" makes no sense. Is it that the "new recipes" will yield "old items," and certain materials--necessary before--will not be needed to create those items if you use the new recipes? Will they still be needed if you use the old recipes for the same items? In that case, the fact that both new and old recipes for the same items will coexist for a while, only adds to the confusion, necessary though this might be.
I know this kind of language trouble comes when many-layered things are managed simultaneously by many, many responsible parties. Besides, we're all aware of the gigantic overhaul this game is receiving. So, I'm not making a negative criticism... but I was left confused by it (as you can see above, still am,) and so were many others.
