What to do with all these poetics?

Folks are telling me there wasn't a conversion NPC added for Poetics -> Law. So what am I supposed to do with them outside of glamours (which isn't really a big deal of a thing anyways...)

I mean, they keep giving me poetics for completing roulettes from 50-59, which seems silly considering that doesn't actually do anything...

HUH? You contradict yourself. They do actually do something. I personally don't see them going away ever as they serve the purpose of the tomes for lvl 50 gear/relics. Just because you dont care about glamour, doesn't mean everyone views it as useless

It is not a contradiction to state that buying ilvl 120 glamours is not actual compensation. Poetics are supposed to be the incentive reward for running things like high-lvl roulettes or MSQ-roulettes, where there is no actual reason for anyone to run them otherwise (because they have already done it). The incentive reward is supposed to make it *not* worthless to run things like those roulettes.

It is not an appropriate reward if it cannot be converted to law, to which I would say that we should instead be offered some smaller amount of Law as a reward instead of poetics.

I just came back to the game after a year off and I love that im getting poetics to gear up to the i120 lvl.

Buy gear and trade them for grand company seals, gear up jobs that you just hit lvl 50 with, glamour, desynth, put them on your retainer. You can do a lot with them.

I like that there's something to help level 50 players and alts to gear up so they're not too far behind for 3.0 content.

Thats good to hear! I had heard you could buy those items with Law, but not with Poetics. I must have missed that in the patch notes :) Thanks for the good news. It's not the end of the world anymore!

I was honestly expecting the new crafting materials for the 170-180 items to require Poetics tomes to purchase just like they did with Coke, Potash ect. Doing this gives people something else to spend tomes on and is good for the in-game economy as it allows non-crafters to acquire gil and it gives crafting people options in getting the materials they need.

Maybe this will change in the patch on Thursday but right now all the new gear looks to be locked behind Red Scrips which allows people to only purchase 2-3 ingredient items per week due to the 450 cap with no other ways to get them atm.

This is wrong. You can only buy them with Law, not Poetics. Maybe don't jump right to being condescending if you're not even correct.

Remember, not everyone has HW. Poetics are there for people who just have ARR and not HW as they can't level past 50.

Wrong, you can buy doman gear upgrades using LAW tomes, not poetics. Poetics are still only used for level 50 equipment.

If you don't have HW than you can't level from 51-60 anyways, so again - giving Poetics out as the roulette reward for lvl 51+ is still pointless.

OP has a point though. Perhaps not everyone has HW / not everyone is at lv60, but from what I see day after day - at least just as many have the expansion and have at least one job at 60. With this in mind, it's completely void of logic to get, as a lv60 job, 100 poetics for high roulette and 120 for main scenario, when the whole currency itself is of no use whatsoever in that stage. Even with still having jobs that one might not even have started yet, doing all the high level content easily gives acces to gear that's at least as good as, if not better than, the i120 poetics pieces, to gear up those jobs that are behind. Level 51 gear is already i120, and there's a dungeon with green items from it. 50-51 bridge is easy as hell too, and being through SoF, you more than probably do already have adequate gear for that.
So..yeah. What to do with all the poetics that's been capped and unused since HW launched?

It is in high level roulette and main story no need for it in others as you get xp on others if your not level 60.

Law/Esoterics as a reward is not until level 60. For non-60 characters its still poetics/GC seals. That means at level 51-59 where there is no need for Poetics anymore, you still get poetics.

Again with that useful word. Being useless is nothing but your opinion. You are putting that opinion against a cold hard fact. There are many people in this game that enjoy the glamour game. Enjoy it so much there is threads every day about the need for more storage space. And for many of those people, poetics are still very useful even at 60.

I dislike crafting, it's useless to me. I better make a thread about SE changing Crafting into something usefull to me.

Sorry but poetics are the incentivized reward that were added to multiple roulettes. If you want people to be incentivized to do them, it should not be with rewards that are useless :) They should either make them useful, or add in a different reward that is.

Same complain like old Mythology and Soldiery. Just throw it for glamour, desynthesis, and GC credit.

^ This. Idk why we can't have law/eso rewards when doing roulettes as a lvl60, and just leave the poets for when we're going through roulettes with a job that's below 60. Would make much more sense.

What I think the OP is trying to ask for (although doing a bad job of it) is that they replace Poetics complete with law. Make the old poetic items purchasable with law tokens (at a lower cost) and just make it so that you can receive law tokens regardless of your job. I think this would please both parties. Glamour people could still to glamours and people who want gear without feeling like they are completely wasting their time can get a useful token for increasing gear level of alts.

If I remember it right, newest tome mats was always obtainable with the highest tome, not the lowest tome.

If you want to level up your desynthese, the poetics are not even near to useless.

So long the job is level 60 and law only get added to poetic without replacing it, why not.

In theory you don't have to buy the HW x-pac, I'm guessing they will leave them in game for people who only have ARR.

Why should you have to be level 60 to get law? I think thats what level 60 currently gets. Poetics are useless after level 50, so you should get law then as well. Or do like the other person said, and just make all the old glamour stuff cost varying amounts of law, and start rewarding everyone with some scaling amount of law.

I've been burning through poetics getting some of the missing relic weapons I wanted and leveling desynth. I really like the idea of keeping one tome in the game specifically for 2.X content.

The only problem I have with it is that they really limited which 2.X stuff the poetics can be spent on. Just 120 gear, rowena tokens for soldiery and poetic weapons, 2 pets, and items related to the relic questline. It would be nice if they still included ilevel 90 and ilevel 100 gear, and maybe all of the 2.X crafting mats as well. Right now, if you want soldiery gear for glamour or desynth, you need to farm 2.0 hunts. And while GC seals for coke is totally viable, it wouldn't hurt to have more vendor options. I need truckloads for airship parts.

My armorer desynth is still only 90, and I can't desynth 120 or 115 gear yet. It would be great to get some more of that 90-110 gear in vendors. The bump between desynthing ilevel 70 and ilevel 115 gear is pretty painful.

Or do what I said, stop referring to something as useless just because you do not like the use. Just like the tomes needing 50 to get them in arr, you need to be max level to get the currency you use at max level to gear up. It is part of personal progression.

The only thing I would get behind, is for those who do not partake in glamours, add something like venture coins purchasable with old poetics as well. As those are always useful.

Because a job lower than 60 already get exp instead of law. Exp and law would be OP.
The same reason why a job lower than 50 don't get tomes for lv 50 gear.

Or the mats for lv50 star crafts. it is a bit sad that SE removed them from the tome shop.
