Shield Lob Ricochet Effect

It would probably never happen, but anyone wish that sometimes when throwing shield lob at an enemy that the shield would bounce and hit whatever enemies are connected? Not even for damage or emnity, but just because it looks cool.

...I may or may not have been watching Captain America before posting this.

That would actually help solve the TP AoE hate gathering problem Plds have.

Eh, they would be copy pasting a skill from WoW. I would love it but don't see it happening.

I would love to see the CD of CoS go down by 10 seconds (to 15, the same length as the DoT).
I would love to see the base aggro on our combos go up to be closer to other tanks.
I would love to see clemency turns away from being a clunky spell to a simple gcd (2.5 seconds vs 3) which solves the issues of
1) Spells can be interrupted. Really--we are tanks.
2) Casting spells prevents you from blocking or parrying. Really--we are tanks.
3) GCD's scale off skill speed, spells need a state none of us get. Really--we are tanks.

The ability is already gated by mana anyways.

A shield bounce could be interesting, and would help differentiate paladins which, atm are a bit stale in our offensive options.

So basically Avenger's Shield. I'm not opposed to this. Would want Spell Reflection more than Avenger's Shield, but I'll take what I can get.

After some years playing a paladin in WoW, the Avenger's Shield (bounces to 2 additional nearby targets) is one thing I miss the most. But obviously it doesn't fit the design philosophy of FFXIV.

FFXIV, in many places, tries to be both a hardcore and a casual game. It's easy to maintain enmity as a baseline, but the tools are very limited to differentiate between the skilled (or informed) and the unskilled (or the uninformed) tank. Shield Lob bouncing off to multiple targets would be a completely casual friendly skill that diminishes the appeal of the PLD to the more micro-managing players.

I would welcome it, since the only time we ever use the Shield Lob is to initiate a pull or to give us something to use while at range, might as well add some nice shiny fluff to it. As long as it still keep its high TP cost, it cannot be used as part of an "aoe-rotation", and that shouldn't affect too many of the micro-managing crowd.

Definitely. My Clemency got interrupted 3 times in a row last night and it really felt...sad.

Seriously though, it was a shield throw spam build that was basically shields flying everywhere. I used this build in Diablo 3 and can say it was very fun to play. You needed jekangbord which was a shield for the shield throw to split more and Gyrfalcon's foote to lower the cost to something reasonable.

As others have said, that would be way too much like Avenger's shield from WoW (man I do miss that ability, paladin tank was my main in WoW for years) and while I certainly approve of the idea I doubt it would happen.

I feel like if you tried to do the Avengers shield toss with an axe you'd encounter an issue where the axe would become "stuck"

Sadly I do not think these forums are really viewed closely by SE. It's kind of hard to suggest thing--I feel the Japanese forums gets a lot more love than our own :(

Ya, I really miss that move from wow, prob will never happen here. To bad even if it did junk white dmg, that would make it so fun to see and hear. Sometimes its the simple things that make us happy playing a job. Its almost as if SE forgets its a game to have fun with just to be different. I guess flash doesn't get me excited when using it, I think I had more fun using flash on ff11 oddly yet its almost the same move...
