Anybody excited about this new mode or did the lack of abolishing GC requirements kill it for you?
I'm a bit excited, it's been over a year since a new area has been added to PvP, so it's about time we got something different.
Even though I hate the GC restriction, as I'm 99% of the player base also do hate it as well, I really wasn't expecting SE to get rid of that.
Nah somehow it'll be either super good or super bad. There is no middle ground when it comes to pvp in this game.
Slaughter = terribad
Secure = really good compared to slaughter
Wolves den was great but soon turn terribad after the "adjustments" they made.
Somehow SE or the playerbase will ruin it for the majority.
SE = gc restrictions and node spam objectives ( tactical ratings for killing a node Whattttttttttt lol )
Playerbase = cleric stance nerf, limit break penalty etc
Ive only ever gotten 1 pop from Wolves Den and it was quite fun for me, I never got to play the og version.
Slaughter was basically me trying to cycle through a mess of players on my ps4, i hated it. The 24 man version wasnt so bad but 72 man Secure is the most fun i had and they took it away from me.
New mode looks interesting, its going to be fun learning it and then after a while getting stuck with people who only want the awards and dont care about wins lol. "Only here for the lights" crowd.
Anyone knows whether the new mode will be the only mode for lv60 pvp? Will we have the lv60 last man standing mode too?
They haven't confirmed a 60's wolves den but I imagine it'll come out either at the same time or in 3.1 when they're going to focus more on den.
The new mode looks awesome, the idea of capturing mining points to slowly get "data" seems a lot like secure. On top of that it's a completely new map, we'll have access to all our 60 skills, and we'll have new gear as well. To say I'm excited would be an understatement.
You bringing the Yellow army of warriors tomorrow Blubbers?
We'll be there! I don't know if we'll glamour our gear just yet but we'll all be there. I think I heard you may swap to adders at some point, am I making that up???
Man i'm excited
Well i roled back to flames just a few minutes ago. But maybe after everything settles in a few months it is my only non rank 45. And since you always have the best ques it is never a bad time to be an adder.
I tried to con(convince) some Balmung PvPers to make an all adder PvP community. It was not my most welcomed idea. I think its just cause you guys have bad taste in colour. Who would be afraid of eight giant Banana's? Hoping to see some old regular secure people since we are getting new sets and maps.
Yep, I'm looking forward to finally doing some more pvp. Just having access to level 60 skills is enough to make me want to try it. I just really hope it's nowhere near as messy as slaughter is...
Hope the wait times will be better
the latter mostly. I mean it'll be great for the first week or two cause many people are queing for the new mode, but i imagine que times will have a return to form once the initial excitement has worn off. this doesn't really take into consideration that the new game mode and map are any good mind you. i'll be happy to eat my own words since ive pretty much given up on pvp in this game, but i'm not holding my breath with GC restrictions still in place.
i150 really? We are already synced below main gear.
I was surprised at the i150 to be honest as I'm only circa i142 using the items gained from the MSQ (I only completed it a few days ago). I thought it may be set at i142 to entice newly level 60s into the mode.
I'm a lowly level 27 PVP player although I do take it seriously & really enjoy it. Unfortunately the queues killed my ability to get higher. I'm going to have to grind PVE content to get non-PVP gear to just play the latest mode. Boo hiss.
Just hope that by the time I reach i150 the queues haven't increased back to crazy times.
We have to let the brand new people feel special, I mean they get to be special and barely work for the best looking armor in the game(imo). I am honestly looking forward to arena fixes since the max ranked people will actually get to take advantage of their gear.
You know what SE, good on you.
Seal Rock is a pleasant surprise indeed. After my first impressions of Slaughter (and continued dislike of 72 Slaughter, 24 grew on me though) I had all but written off any new addition to the PvP roaster, instead bemoaning the lack of attention Wolves Den and Secure receive. Damn it all though, I was wrong. Seal Rock is (at least from first impressions) amazing, and more importantly I think it shows a fair amount of listening to the community with regards to PvP gameplay. Still ignoring the queue issues, but bravo all the same.
Perhaps the only issue I'd take (outside the lack of a Mercenary system to fix queue times) is the iLevel... I'd have put it at a i130 cap, because you know... Those Liege sets wouldn't have been replaced by our PvE stuff then...
Seal Rock awesome? You nuts?
Its the most random battleground i've ever seen in an mmo, if you're lucky most of the towers activate near your spawn point and you get a solid advantage from just being lucky, how is that fair?
Is there a mechanic choosing wich towers are going to activate?
i honestly think it's because with all the damage output from i180 gear it would be impossible to cure through. otherwise i think people will be dead within 5 seconds.
[edit] this is in regards to why ilvl is 150
Seal Rock syncs to i150 for the same reason Secure synced to i80. In order to allow fresh max level characters to be effective against long time PvPers.
yup they took all the skill out of pvp, come on in you funzies and ride your chocobo around for 15 minutes.
LOL ok. Seize is basically Secure. We needed a Capture the Flag or a Murder Ball type game. We needed something without GC affiliation. We needed something smaller where you can actually make a sizable impact on the outcome. Seize will fizzle and queues will become unbearable within a week or two. It does nothing to resolve the issues with PVP in FFXIV.
Q times on new mode is already "more than 30 minutes" on my datacenter (at least right now).
If that had been true to any new PvE content SE would take drastic measures to improve it. They say they take PvP seriously, but the reality of it shows otherwise. Gameplay may be improved, but thats too bad when you can't play it.
I like the new mode. I hope Q will get better. But if it's this bad now it's not looking good.
I'm getting queue times between instant and ~15 minutes at the most. Twin Adder as well, if that could explain it.
Really can't see this "dying down within a week or two" either, this is far far better than Slaughter (although I guess that's just my opinion) and before 3.0 hit I manged to go from (IIRC) Rank 38 to 44 in a week or so off Slaughter, queues weren't great then but I at least managed to get plenty of games in. Add to that the fact that, if you PvP, this is basically your go-to for Esoterics now. I've already capped solely off Seal Rock, and unlike spamming Neverreap I did so unintentionally while enjoying myself. Twin Adder kind of sucks at the moment too, it's not like I'm really winning much, but it's still far more enjoyable than something like Slaughter. I love how the randomized nodes encourage scouting and communication, and can lead to both large and small skirmishes.
I find running around hoping for a node to spawn on me/checking out current ones and calling in allies/warning them and having numerous little skirmishes along the way so damn better than the mindless mid-zerg Slaughter offered me. Some might see it as randomly running around hoping to get lucky, I see it as picking your targets; Are the current nodes nearly finished? Head somewhere where nobody is and a node is almost certain to spawn near you while everyone else is busy fighting. Enemy turtling down on one nodes? Take a small group and pick off some of the others which are no doubt weakly defended. Battle High and Fever end up being exactly what I wanted the PvE in Slaughter to be like; Spot one and work out if its worth going after them.
Yes, I like the new mode too. I'm not complaining about the mode. Being on another datacenter probably helps you with Q time as well. Also being on the "worst" pvp GC helps too I guess as the "better" ones tends to be the bottlenecks (I guess since they are more attractive). It is too early to say it's dying, I guess it's not atm, but the current q times on my datacenter suggest that it is not going to be alive for long. As I said, had this been true for any new PvE content there would be a hotfix tomorrow (perhaps thats what the new hotfix is lol).
