Love the Laurel goobue from sylphs but I would pay for the original. Thank you for your time.
i dont understand
the sylph is version is exactly the same except it has a flower crown
if you can buy the original it loses all meaning
i dont feel your thought process here
Original is taller and it has plants on its head. No different than chocobo fans wanting wedding chocobo.
You mean the one time event item exclusively for players of 1.0?
Oh boy I see that going over well.
*Edit*
Why buy it? Why not just ask to have it implemented. People these days are just so used to it they bend over and say "Cash shop please"
I'm surprised no one has bitten your head off yet.
Ah well, give it time.
And those of us who were completely screwed out of 1.0 because we (snrk) prebought the PS3 version. Yeah. STILL BITTER.
NO.
Come on, I'm not even a Legacy player and I'd love me that goobbue as bad as anyone but this would be the worst thing. The people who earned it did so by playing a game that was absolute garbage. Let them wear it as a badge of honor for suffering through 1.0, as they do their tattoos and scorched chocobos.
I'm a non-legacy player who loves having everything I can, but even I say no to this. The people who have that mount have been here since the 1.x cycle, and they deserve to have as many special items as they can to show that. If they're still playing from back then, then they deserve their unique bonuses.....
I have the legacy goobue mount and I wouldn't mind this, but ultimately it's up to SE
I'm tired of people calling 1.0 garbage especially when they admit they didn't play it. 1.23 was when the legacy goobbue came out and it was a fantastic game at that time. There was no suffering on my part. The original Nael Van Darnus (Hard) fight was to this day the best boss fight I have ever done in any game.
I don't think they should bring it back, but only because SE said it was going to be exclusive to legacy players. Items that SE specifically said were to be exclusive should stay so. Items that just so happened to become exclusive because the game went belly up should be free game to be reintroduced.
1.23 was a good, very passable game that still was fundamentally flawed (it still had the terrible cut and pasted zones which were virtually empty, the terrible connection issues, the laggy interface) - ARR may not be perfect but it is still light years ahead of anything that 1.0 accomplished (which for everything it did right it did so many more things wrong). But this discussion isn't about if 1.0 was good or not, its about once-only bonuses coming back, which I completely disagree with.
That is life - there will always be times where there will be something offered for a short time and it's a case of "get it while they last". If you're too late or unable to get it at that time for any reason, well, it's too bad.
The original goobue mount and the Legacy chocobo are examples of this, they were rewards for those who stuck with the game in it's darkest hour when SE needed the support. That was their whole purpose. If you didn't get them when they were available then you have missed out I'm afraid.
Thus they will always be exclusive - if SE ever did bring them back they would alienate the very fan base that actually stuck with them in the time they needed them the most, something no company would ever be that stupid or arrogant to do.
As someone who played 1.0 alpha all the way till they shut down the servers, I have to say that the game improved by leaps and bounds by the time 1.23 hit. However, the above poster is right that it was still fundamentally flawed. There are a few things I would have liked them to take from 1.0 when they released 2.0.
One in particular is Anima or teleporting. I would love it if they brought this back. However, they should mix what we have now with 1.0... meaning you could spend gil to "recharge" your anima at crystal.
As for the Goobue, absolutely not. It was a legacy exclusive, same as the Legacy Chocobo or the Legacy mark on our characters. Allowing people to buy it would defeat the entire purpose and be rather insulting. Re-skins, exactly what you have with the Beastmen Goobue, are fine. To ask for the original is insulting.
I got the Goobue on one of my characters, but not the other.
I'm conflicted on this. As a non-Legacy player who couldn't play 1.x because my pc was a popoto at the time, I do want this. However, it IS one of those things Legacy players deserve for sticking with the game. On the other hand, it's not like its the Legacy Chocobo or Mark. Not every Legacy player has it since, from what I read, it was from a side quest in Coerthas so it'd give both new players and old ones another shot at it. But then again, it would be devaluing the mount's significance. I'm fine if we don't get it, and I'm fine if we do.
No. Keep the Legacy Goobbue with the legacy players. They earned the right to use it for playing through 1.0.
I'm glad to see you all supportive of Legacy players, we get a bad wrap a lot of the time. Thanks guys.
Also, what's next? Our back tattoos? hahaha
Kinda wish the mount was account wide ended up playing a difference character after one of my statics fell apart
Next thing OP will want is the legacy chocobo. It's not fair that only legacy players get those cool black highlights in the feathers.
Also, while I appreciate the support of a few non-legacy players, stop bashing 1.0 so ruthlessly. It had its merits, I stuck around for a reason. I still miss quite a few aspects of it.
+1, thank you.
It's only a different style Gobbue, why so greedy. Let it be a legacy only segnature mount.
I am all for SE giving us the 1.0 stuff. Before anyone asks, yes, I did play 1.0. It also annoys me that my current character doesn't have everything my 1.0. Character has.
I don't mind that new players get it. I'd rather you get it as quest/achievement/veteran reward than for it to go on the cash shop though.
I just wish my Legacy stuff was account wide. It sucks not having stuff I unlocked specifically in 1.0 on any char I make in 2.0+
I support this.
When I came from 1.00 to ARR I got a Goobue mount and had my Gil reduced to 10%
You want a Goobue mount? No problem.
But...it was garbage. If it wasn't then we would be playing that version of XIV and SE wouldn't have to waste all this money on reworking a poorly executed idea from the start. Just because the guy that takes over happens to make a few parts of memorable content doesn't mean the game wasn't an empty, terrible shell.
You can hand over the nostalgia goggles now...
I'm gonna say no. These 1.0 items should stay 1.0 exclusive.
It's a perk for paying for the game we have now.
The goobbue and back tattoo aren't 'legacy' things.. Goobbue was obtainable in 1.x even if you never get legacy status. Tattoo is something every character created in 1.x got in ARR (minus a few exceptions caused by a bug)
Also, the goobbue wasn't 'earned' so much. You talked to an NPC, you got the horn, that was just about it ;)
Whats funny is that theres a small portion of legacy players that don't have the legacy goobue mount because they didn't speak with the npc during the 1.0 era. XD
And you can hand over the infatuation of illusion goggles now. 1.0 was rushed, it had bad content. It also had more depth and soul then any modern mmo model will ever have. And the potential for expansion on the game in the old 1.0 model where far greater then any you find here now.
Yeah 1.0 had copy pasted landscape but 2.0 will forever more have copy pasted content and a meaningless world. Thank you Yoshida san for delivering on the promise of making sure to relaunch the game in the highest FF quality you can.
Shame he had to remove what little we had of elemental weakness/strenghts since it would have been too difficult for the "community" to understand.
OT: im sure if enough ppl cry and want, they will get the gobbue, the legacy mark and the legacy chocobo.
"Legacy" is a pretty accurate term for anything pre-2.0, especially things like the Goobbue and tattoo since SE went out of their way to say they wont be obtainable after ARR's launch. They aren't literally Legacy items like the Chocobo and you didn't need Legacy status to obtain them, but you had to be playing during the Legacy Campaign to be eligible for them.
You apparently aren't aware that Legacy characters are different from Legacy Accounts.
Legacy characters are any characters made during 1.x. Legacy mounts are the Goobue and special Chocobo. And the mark on Legacy characters is called the Legacy mark.
A Legacy account is something entirely different. Those who paid for 3 months of subscription or more during a certain time period of 1.x were granted a "Legacy account" status and given lower subscription rate.
I have 2 legacy accounts, I have multiple legacy characters.. Problem is, Square has used the 'legacy' term to refer to both the official 'legacy' program (chocobo and reduced sub prices), and later also for things like the mark (hence the /legacymark command).. So, if all 1.x players are 'legacy' players, then the goobbue is a legacy mount. If however legacy players are only those with the legacy status on their account, then the goobbue is NOT a legacy mount.
absolutely love this. I am a legacy player and many aspects of the game were garbage but it was also a highly enjoyable game. I still wish they had some aspects of it in this version.... original aurum vale was so much better than current version. the hamlet defense was also fun.... providing you didn't have to farm it, successfully triple melding when the loss would have been horrifying (though happy this isn't the case anymore lol
I got the Cait Sith minion from a PC pre-order. It was also available when the game first came out, not just for PS4 launch. As a matter of fact:

If you didn't get a code, something went wrong.
If you played 1.0, you did have to pre-order a new copy of the game to get the code, I believe. At least that's what I did. I admit, that was kinda weird. Maybe there was a way around it and I just never found out?
