Yoshi P - Are We Getting Armory Chest Inventory Expansion for AF2?

To: Yoshi P & Dev Team,

We might be running into potential Armory Chest Inventory issues with the upcoming "Artifact Armor / AF 2" Gear.

Looking at the Video Preview you had for Heavensward AF 2 Gear, we'll be exclusive new sets for *every single Disciples of War & Magic *and* Crafting and Gathering Jobs*.

* Given all the AF2 Sets for every single Job / Crafting / Gathering Classes (besides any Alternate Gear pieces, Alexander Savage, Glamour, etc.), I think we might need our Armory Chest Inventory expanded?

We'll have AF2 sets for:

* Paladin
* Warrior
* Monk
* Dragoon
* Bard
* Ninja
* Summoner
* Black Mage
* White Mage
* Scholar
* Dark Knight
* Machinist
* Astrologian
* Carpenter
* Blacksmith
* Armorer
* Goldsmith
* Leatherworker
* Weaver
* Alchemist
* Culinarian
* Botanist
* Miner
* Fisher

Dude, you know we won't. HW already choked a lot of us in terms of space. Hell, I had every crafter and battle class leveled to 50 and with the new three jobs, I had ONE space left over in my weapons slot which allowed me to switch jobs...

They want us to get more retainers and they even mentioned in the Live letter that they are trying to implement a thing where you can summon all gear sets from retainers. Adding more retainers (and their inventory slots) to the game mysteriously isn't somehow worse than adding more armoury slots for us...

What I would really love is a tacklebox... somewhere for fisher that u aren't carrying 100 types of baits in your inventory... The fish take up enough space then the tackle too.. idk how many times I had to quit fishing just to unload. =/

GIVE ME SPACE OR GIVE ME DEATH!

Unless AF2 is obtained through quests, I doubt it will be.

That certainly did make me scratch my head at their choice, given the reasoning we were fed before. It's not like people were asking for a full 175 slots to be added in or something lol. A simple addition for a few armor sets to the armoire would have sufficed.

Oh wait, this was about the actual armoury inventory spacing lol. Mmm even less likely.

Retainers are managed on a separate server, apparently, and their inventories are called up on-demand, so the server load is quite different to adding extra slots we can use at a moment's notice and which presumably need to be backed up very frequently. There's no need to continually back up retainer inventories when they're not summoned. That said, I don't see why we couldn't have an additional free retainer if they really want to give us some more space, given that retainers are relatively lightweight.

Heck, we haven't even gotten a solid confirmation when we're even getting AF2. Its just people "thinking" its gonna be esoterics.

I'm in the same boat x.x my inventory is always filled with tackle and fish

If they increase the armory size then the servers will literally blow up according to the devs. So don't get your hopes too high.

Well unlike the standard Dev Response of "Use your Retainers (and buy more Retainers)," this will be a larger issue because these are fundamental Gear Sets for each Job/Class we want to use:

I think it'll be ridiculous if the Dev Team is expecting us to...

* Each time we Change Class / Job (Weaver, Goldsmith, Ninja, etc.), we have to see if, "oops, the entire AF2 is on my Retainer. BRB..." and have to manually pull out your Gear Set for the Classes/Jobs that didn't fit in your Armory Chest?

Seems ridiculous (Glamour I can understand if they were pushing us to dump that on Retainers), but not the "brand-new AF2 Gear Sets they're pushing."

I hihgly doubt DoH is going back to 8 sets. No one knows if red scripts will gate 8 sets or one universal set. All they have to do to fix this problem is give you universal behind the gate and 8 glamour crafted sets for the unique look. It's the same thing they've done for two cycles now.

If they'd fix their awful glamour system, I could free up so much space.

It was fine when we had the gear sets for crafters that all crafter could use. Now with them all going to have their own again...this is going to suck bad. I don't want to have to got to my retainer to play warrior or Ninja. I want all my sets their in my Armoury. I guess it will have to be the frigging Crafting classes that I have to banish to the retainer when I run out of room...damn it...damn it...

esos is VERY VERY likely due the nature of job specific gear. you cannot let such gear drop on a dungeon as that would add a crazy amount of loot rng. also since alex savage gear was already said to look the same as normal but dyeable and the weapons were already shown aswell esos is the only thing left since i doubt they would show this gear on a trailer for heavensward and then not implement it till 3.1 or later.

it was basicly just like MYTH tomes back then on 2.0 which also gave job gear but no weapons. the esoterics are likely to take over that same pattern.

the weapons shown tough. those COULD be the new 3.1 relic weapons sadly which means that awesome drk sword wont be in the game anytime soon which would be sad :/ but we have to wait and see next week.
if esoterics are NOT the AF gear i would be VERY suprised and really question how they plan on adding them then.

One thing I'd like to see - at least one free retainer(if not 2). That should make it a bit easier to manage inventory and if they implement the grab gearsets from retainer it would make it workable with the current armory space as well.

Theoretically if you had every class/job at 60 you could fit one set for each class/job with you and still have extra space as the total number is 24 (and there'd be only 7 sets of rings).
So I doubt we'll see any expansion until there's at least one more job introduced.

An extra free retainer would solve the inventory problems everyone's been having since Heavensward added two and a half thousand items to the game.
The problem is that this is the one thing that will literally never happen because Square Enix is praying that we'll give in and embrace our new $17/mo subscription fee.

2 Slots free in each section of the Armory chest, 1 which is opened by what you are currently wearing, for 22 spots being taken up left side. Problem comes when you have multiple BiS sets for say PvP, Alex Savage and NM/EX.

The answer for everything is always the server will blow up. Maybe they need to upgrade those ancients servers because we clearly have a serious inventory problem here. I don't even dare to imagine what will happen to our inevntories with the upcoming 3.x patches and 4.0 so they are forced to add more inventory and they can't just deny it.

Except if you have *any* Glamour Sets, or even a Spiritbond Set (or as Ultimate said, a PVP Set, Alt Build Set) you're doomed.

It would be an extreme hassle to run to your Retainer and swap things out at certain times. Doable, but just awful Quality of Life.

Not that I don't want an expanded armory chest, but why are people going on about having to run to a retainer to swap sets? You do have a perfectly good set of personal inventory. You really don't need to be carrying around so much crap if this is full as well.

Being able to stock supra/lucis, different relic and upgraded AF1 in armory would be nice too .____.

If AF2 ends up being the esoteric gear, then I doubt it

If anything, we need more weapon slots to accommodate the 3 new weapon types (one more row of 5 would be nice for cleanness and so we could squeeze another alt. or pvp weapon too).

I'm no programmer but they have explained it a few times, and I think it has something to do with "on-hand" inventory (inventory space that you can access at any time). Retainers aren't a big issue because you can only "call" a single retainer at a time, and you don't have that inventory space constantly udpating. The other part they mentioned is that to avoid things such as item doups, the server updates every logged on character's inventory every 5 seconds. So adding another bag on top of that would be pretty taxing for the servers.

It's not about storage, it's about server load from everyone who is logged on, sending/receiving information about their inventory every 5 seconds.

But yes that doesn't change the fact that Armory Chest space is at big problem. I have 1 slot in my weapon chest which allows me to change jobs.

because craft material+set+materia can simply fill totally your retainer.

That may be Altena, but then again, the Dev Team will need to tackle this head-on eventually:

Just adding in 1 more New Job (Samurai? Dancer? Red Mage? etc.) would basically completely max out the Armory Chest Inventory at that point, and they'd have to do something.

Maybe a second armory chest for crafting/gathering gear. Keep the armory chest for well.. armor?

This pretty much, they are over-complicating the matter by focusing on all the armoury slots, all they truly need to do is just add a few more slots to the weapon area so it's less of a micromanage.

u should concentrate on a few class not all... inventory space is enough...
need more ... pay for it.

Simple.

I have -6 spaces for my rings.

I have to keep 3 sets of rings in my bags because my classes levels don't align perfectly to the 3rd ring of Saturn.

24 classes/Jobs....

48 Rings.... Potentially

25 bag slots.

No way you can carry all your rings in your Armour tab if you are multiple levels.
