So Warden's paeon...

Q13. It's difficult to find uses for bard’s Warden’s Paeon. Could you tell us how we should be using this?

A13. The concept behind this is not for regular use, but instead we imagined this being used during raids and other similar situations. We can look into adjustments if there is enough feedback asking for more additional effects.


So tell me how does this work during raids if most of those debuffs are not esunable anyway. If it would protect from special debuffs then sure it could be worthwile but it doesn't really.

But an additional effect I'd like to see is for it is castable on a mob and it works like bane with the next weaponskill hit - so dot the mob, paean it, iron jaws it and it would spread to others(or empy arrow etc...). Could make it interesting but I'd mainly want it for the dot spread.

I'm sure they plan to involve some mechanic at some point that's a big ol' red button with the words "USE WARDEN'S HERE". They're effectively giving us a paper thin existence for future raids, in case some people didn't want us anymore. That's going to purely be its reason for existence unless there is greater negative feedback for it.

I've not yet found any point in casting it. Too many variables. I've shoved it somewhere way away on my hotbar, collecting dust.

I hope not. We've already been nerfed on our actual role because BRD's were a useful job to have in newbie progression runs. Having a required "red button with the words USE WARDEN'S HERE" ability ... well, you can forget about ever being needed in anything other than that fight ever again.

Zero reason to use it so far, the fact is has a cast time makes it even more useless given most boss skills are quicker casting than the song itself often on top of having very little (if any) need for precast esuna on a single party member that I have seen so far. That annoys me about it too...why a single party member not the entire group? Does everyone else have ear plugs in during the duration of playing your song? All song's should always affect the entire group not just one member.

They could have added a new song instead of this half arsed support ability. I don't know, a physical foe? Regen Hp? Haste song?

If there will be a boss ability that can be prevented by Warden Paen we have another case of mandatory class for an encounter, which is terrible design in a small party size with overlapping roles between different classes.

I have been trying to see what this works on and kind not find many. Is there a list out there somewhere that tells all the effects it works on? Also seems like a big dps loss to stop and sing that just for one effect. If they make savage so you have to have a bard ( like the silence thing) It is going to piss people off.

I would love to have had a party wide haste or HP regen song, either of those would of been great but a single party member pre-esuna...don't waste my time SE adding that useless skill to my repertoire. Even if SE does add a fight in future which benefits from that skill, it still is an irrelevant skill for 99.9999% of the rest of the game.

this is the only possible use i can think of.

That guy should go ninja edit his post before every fkin WAR keeps crying for Paean in middle of the fights.

How bad of a design is making an entire skill for rare occasional use. Well I'm glad I have something for a fight you decide to shove a crap mechanic into every 6-7 months.

As of right now the skill is basically to remove a single pacification from the start of a fight. With this much thought going into the job in-general I can see why it was butchered.

Wow so you're gonna have to learn the fight and pay attention and get the timings down for when to use it? Colour me shocked. And its almost guranteed that in whatever situation we'll be using warden's paeon to block some debuff that that debuff won't be esunable if we miss getting hte warden's paeon up in time.

YES! YES! YES! Please more songs like this! And some cures or a battle rez (A real one like smn not our old crappy LB!). Make bard feel like Bard and not the Singing Ranger. Make full support jobs viable and let me spend my time singing like a bard instead of pew pewing like a bow mage!

so what you are saying, is.. we should WANT SE to make all fights highly scripted.. where everything goes down at a certain time.. and you require no skill except memorization?
