Quick question on the Aery?

Hey everyone. My WHM is at 56 almost at 57. The gear I have I forget the ilvl, maybe 123-125 something like that going by memory. I've done all the HW quests up until the one that just unlocked the Aery, so most my gear is from the quests which was all the 133 or 135 level forget which, and then most others is ironworks stuff or stuff from the stores so seems pretty decent never any issues so far.

I just tried the Aery this morning, and as soon as it started the tank ran off pulling maybe 5-6 mobs. For the first one by the time he stopped and I caught up he was at maybe 85% HP, I hit a regen and then was doing Cure II and before it finished casting he was dead, then we all wiped back to the start. He then started on about like "Uhhhhhhh" and doing the poking emote to me and stuff. So we did it again, this time was fine but I was literally using all my buffs, hitting Cure II over and over just to keep up even using Benediction at one point. He was kind of a dick because I had about 50% MP after the first pull and he just ran off to pull the next, so was always really low.

We completed the first boss which healing was super easy, then my Internet went down so I just logged off, took it as a sign. Just wondering if my ilvl should be higher or something, but not really sure how I could do that since I don't know where I could get gear that's higher than what I have? Just scared to try it again now! Might have been harder since I've been playing AST for awhile now as well so I kept feeling like I was forgetting to do something obvious (prob thinking of the cards). Either way I had Asylum up, everything. Should it be that hard to heal, or should I try to get better gear elsewhere, or? Just wondering about feedback as I'm scared to try it again!

Don't let people get to you. In duty finder turn off chat if you must. It's a game and mistakes are meant to happen. Thicken your skin against people. You just have to get the feel an rythem of what each tank can take in dmg. He might have also gimped his defenses. Just play the game and learn your job and you will do fine.

Thr boss who makes poison clouds, are you not suppose to be able to esuna that debuff away?

@OP - People who are speed pulling level sync dungeons need to understand that you aren't "Godly geared" anymore and need to calm down. Don't think anything of it.

Yeah, you can't Esuna them off. You have to let them expire. You can Esuna the Disease effect the boss likes to throw out though.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I have no prob standing up to people, I guess was just wondering more if it was me, like if there's better gear somewhere or if I should have done something else before trying this dungeon, even though I meet all the requirements. I think that's my biggest pet peeve, when a tank pulls big, and your MP is down to like 20% and they just rush off to the next pull! The boss I actually found easy and had no problems, it was just during the pulls on the way was hard to keep up, almost felt like I had Slow on me or something.

It's not you :) Some people are just highly inconsiderate of others. It's not like our MP bars are invisible, so he should have known better to at least glance at your MP as a -good- tank, rather than just being an itchy puller. Some tanks prefer to just pull what ever the hell they want without thought, and then dump the responsibility of their impatience on the healer. >_>

That said, one of my FC tanks does a bit of both - now and then he'll just run face long into a ton and then forget to check me (but I usually say something if I don't think I can take next pull and hope he notices chat...lol if not, he knows it was his fault) if he gets into the zone - and other times he'll stop and ask if I need mp every other pull. lol...

This sounds like it's a problem with the tank, not you. I've run into many, many tanks lately who over-pull, don't use tank stances, don't pop cooldowns, etc.

To deal with large pulls like this everybody needs to be on their game. If the DPS is subpar, the fight will take too long and the healer will either run out of MP or be close to it even with proper MP management (The exception being SCH). If the tank is under-geared and not using the correct abilities, they can literally take too much damage even for a skilled healer to keep up with. Sadly a lot of tanks will pull large groups without feeling out how the DPS/Healer are, and regardless of dungeon.

That makes sense. It was a DRK so who knows maybe one of those people that just started learning to tank now. It was just weird because it was one of those where I'd do Cure II, but it almost felt like my gear was broken or that I had CS on, like he'd have 50% HP, I'd use Cure II which typically would I think bring someone to like 80-90% at least in past dungeons, where as it seemed to maybe be more like to 70%. Mind you they were taking damage at the same time of course, just felt like the heals were weak, even though gear was at 100% and no CS on, so thought maybe something with me or him was causing that.

Don't worry - there's only so much you can do, and the tank needs to understand this. If a tank does not or will not take our limitations (mp, cast time, insta-heal and buff CDs, pulling too big, not allowing mp to regen) into consideration, then that's their fault. If you did all you could, then there's nothing more anyone can ask of you.

In ref to the healing feeling tiny - I remember a thread convo about this a long time ago, but I don't know how valid it was ended up being in the end... but this reminded me of it. If you heal at the same time damage is received, the heal given will only end up giving the difference of that damage taken at that time. So if, for example, he was hit for 1,500 by the mob at the same time that you heal 2,000, then the difference is 500... his hp won't necessarily bounce (-1,500 then suddenly +2,000) , but only go up the 500 (without any HP bouncing shown).
Again, I don't know if that was disproven in the end (as I believe the thread is over a year or two old and I didn't bother following it back then), but it makes sense in this scenario - Cleric was off, gear wasn't broken, etc.

OR, you or the tank had a healing debuff on them at the time (in which case, they will receive a % less of your actual heal). If that wasn't the case, then it's probably something more like the explanation above

I saw this in DD one time a drk pulled all the way to the boss and the healer was new. I think people should at least ask what the healer is comfortable with. I also think its funny people try to make large pulls while synced.

Yeah there are plenty of tanks in HW leveling content that either were in the old endgame before HW or that are in HW endgame with good gear and seem to forget that you cant do godly speedrun pulls in leveling content. That is on the tank, not you.

I'm a 60 war tank main and I always look at the gear of the group I get in DF roulettes before I make a single pull. If I saw your gear I probably would have pulled 1-2 groups at a time, probably just one until I saw your ability, and increased pace until I saw you start to struggle. Not woop pull all the things!!

I just did it again and this time was no problem. It seems like each group was about 2-3 mobs, so he'd do them one at a time. The last time with the issue the guy had probably 3 or 4 groups in total so was like 10 or so mobs. This time was no problem was even able to do Holy a bunch. Have to say I really like Assize, especially right before the final boss when there's like 20 of those dragons that come out all at once. I popped CS then Assize and I took them all out in one shot lol, that was pretty satisfying.
