New Warrior tank here- tips Please

Well I Normally played dps on FFXIV. After heavensward, I wanted to try something a bit different as the Fun I had in BLM has been declining. Lancer was lame on ARR Launch imo(even made me quit for a bit).
Monk started off fine but quickly just became to confusing with so many skills and most of them seemed useless(quit again) I went somewhere simpler such as BLM.

BLM plays the same but with the new Abilities I must keep track of I found my self staring at cooldowns for ley lines, Enochian/etc pops up and ruins the immersion I originally had as BLM. No longer do I feel I was in the action but instead looking as timers on ability cooldowns more than ever.

Perhaps tank is the same way I don't Know. Well I've been having Fun as Warrior popping my different skill combos and managing Hate with sometimes numerous enemies. The problem occurred is when I started to get to 40+ I have so many new skills I found my self going wtf am I supposed to do with them?
Theres so many, some are just different combo chains that start off from Heavy Swing-S. Sunder or Maim and are simple to execute the problem is knowing which combo should I execute and also with the new "press key to receive a Buff" when should I press them(berserk for ex.)

This post limit needs changing...

I don't think that issue is going to change, no matter what class/job you do...

On a serious note. Are you playing on PS4 or PC? If you're using a controller, I highly recommend using the extended crossbars to manage all your skills. In addition to that, set it so you only rotate between two hotbars and make one for your tank stance, and the other for your DPS stance.

If you're MTing, you want to establish hate first and then work on keeping maim up. For multiple adds, I generally use 2 overpowers to start and then steel cyclone (when available) to keep up with aggro generation. Make sure to keep an eye on the aggro bars on the side to see if anyone is close to stealing hate and adjust accordingly. Make sure to use cooldowns on big hits and if you're tanking multiple adds to ease the healer's job. One thing to note is that inner beast heals you and gives you a short damage reduction buff, so use that as if it was a defensive cooldown.

If I'm trying to help with DPS, I'll rotate between the butcher's block combo and storm's eye. I rarely use storm's path, but I'll use it if I feel there is too much incoming damage. A new strategy is to do stance dancing between your tank and DPS stances if you feel you can pump out more damage without risking your death and the healer hating you.

This is more-or-less the basics of what works for me.

On PC. Thanks for help. The pic while funny actually give me a sense what to do and easy to perform. Others normally give me what appears to be a paragraph of information cycling I need to remember.

This is what my hot bars look like. Im trying to find a better spot/organizable way to set them for Warrior. Im up for any changes and willing to try them.

Right now Im spamming easy duty lv50 Trials to get used to fighting bosses with my setup.

Also if im not Main Tanking, don't have Defiance up correct?

I think you'd be better off with PLD, OP. WAR and DRK are both at least as complex as BLM, if not more. PLD is much more straightforward if you're worried about a lot of abilities to consider.

If you are not tanking and dealing damage, you are correct, don't use Defiance.

You will get a new stance called Deliverance at... 52? That will be the stance to use when dealing damage.

I'm pretty sure this is the reason why I keep seeing other WARs use Berserk before pulling, and that's an extremely inefficient thing to do.

Less damage, less aggro, less overall enmity generated. Unchained + Berserk Tomahawk isn't necessary. Correct opener:

Infuriate -> Tomahawk -> Unchained -> HS -> Brutal Swing -> Maim -> IR + Berserk -> SE -> HS -> SS -> BB -> Fracture -> IB -> HS -> Maim -> SE -> Pacified

This gives you a Maim + SE + Unchained + IR + Berserk buffed BB combo, pretty much solidifying all aggro for the rest of the fight, and then reapplies SE. You can either choose to SE -> SP from here, or SE -> BB if SP isn't needed.

I wouldn't follow this anymore with 3.0, with good dps going for eye is really risky considering how much burst every class just got. If you have a ninja though then by all means. Additionally losing a triple berserk fell cleave is murder on your dps so I'm not entirely in agreement that unchained is worth it. Definitely never worth it in a non raid setting.

Yet to lose aggro starting with SE against anyone. The enmity potency you gain from your offensive buffs and Maim is far more than most DPS. The only one who can possibly pull aggro is a NIN, who should be using Shade anyway.

I like starting with Unchained over getting in 3x Fell Cleave and nerfing my damage with Defiance, simply because it generates enough enmity in my opener to allow me to sit in Deliverance for the rest of the fight and alternate SE -> SP. If I have a NIN, I'll start in Deliverance and get the 3x Fell Cleave, but otherwise I just don't think it's worth it.

In a DF/PF setting you most likely won’t lose agro but you can optimize that opener a lot more for that environment. If you’re not in a DF setting and you’re with good DPS you will most likely lose hate. If you’re with a ninja you shouldn’t though, like I said.

All DPS classes are capable of taking off you in that opening setting. BLM BRD and MCH shouldn’t because of quelling but if it’s on CD or they’re lazy then they can take rather easy.
A more dps effective way to establish agro in that fashion is to be in defiance > Tomahawk > Overpower > Switch to deliverance > heavy swing > etc.

Still in the process of moving skills and abilities. At the moment I haven't needed to use those 2 abilities as Im doing weaker dungeons trying to get used to tanking. The Fate grinding doesn't teach you how to play the game. Just allows for faster leveling. In fact I haven't even needed to use Provoke yet as im managing hate pretty well. Im sure I will need to eventually. Still new and testing the waters.

I was watching that guide. Lot of people have told me that I shouldn't spec in STR as it doesn't reduce magic damage taken. lot of ppl are saying go full vit or full STR.
