Grade fish 6? Where to go next.

I'm getting 300+ on fishing now that I am near Lv 40. I don't know where else to go next. Is there a grade 6 out there or just grade 5?

There used to be an infinite 350SP per catch Grade 10 water that was full of low-difficulty placeholders... but they closed that loophole. Now, FSH has to work for it just like BTN and MIN. You can decide if you think it's worth it to get ahead early if getting ahead has to be done so slowly.

It just goes to show, when you can tell something is going to get nerfed - put your other ventures on hold and try to get as much done as possible... back on Karnak, they call me The Codfather.

God no 300 sp a catch, how friggin horrible. Get yourself a time machine and let me know how you like it 6+ months ago, when you had to rank the hard way like me and many others, on -100 sp a catch in the 40's

Seriously, I didn't mean to come off as rude either if I did. But man 6+ months ago was a severe challenge for ranking fish, botany and mining. I don't think the changes are a bad thing, it was needed. Just having experienced the original sp makes 300sp amazing!

Why is it that DoL is the only class set which doesn't have a base 50 grinding method? There are mobs that rank far above 50, there are r50 recipes, but instead of lowering all grade 7-10 fishing spots to grade 6 and adding grade 6 for the other two DoLs it was decided to make everyone even by making us gather at a base r40

I have ranted and raved about it for a year almost. DOL is 'THE' red headed step child of this game as far as content and updates go. Which is sad because of all the things XIV got wrong, gathering is really fun, which is rarity in MMOs. They need to implement some party fishing content, there is a thread here with ideas for such things.

The whole SPing at higher grades was something that should not have gone on as long as it did, especially with Botany and Miners being left out of having something similar. What should have been done was adding in G6 nodes for all and just giving them temporary items from all previous grades. Then when it came time they could just swap the item trees out.

ya when you are mining for 70 sp per swing, trust us when that 300 sp is *drool* lol. This is how they fixed the issue of not having grade 6

UM... 6 months ago you could go 1-50 Ilses of Umbra with 300-500 a catch LOL

Grade 10 fishing nodes gave the max SP per catch 1-50 deu to having grade 1 fish in them they were easy even at r1. this made the grind exploitable by going 1-50 off the max sp possible in the same spot off rank1 fish :p

After grade 6 you go back to grade 1.

ya there is no grade 6, grade 5 is the max

Botany and minig was a challenge. Fishing was easy mode pre 1.18

if you are concentrating on fishing to level it up. i would suggest you can go out and fish grade 5 nodes until you hit fatigue and then pick up the leves for each city. the high level leves can get you 30-40k sp on top of your regular fishing. i'm kinda stuck and doing the same thing on my miner and botanist right now.

i wish they would have just thought and added grade 6 nodes for the other gathering classes and just removed 7-10 for the fishing exploit.

Ahaha, One of the best Monty Python Sketches. Oh yeh fishing was easy before 1.8 and after, it's just bloody boring.

I'm guessing the OP has finished main story quests cos they do give out some nice SP if not.
