Saw the Patch Notes for BRD and MCH. How are they now?

I haven't touched BRD after HW launched and only started the MCH questline at 30 and let it at that level as I continue to level up my main job NIN.

Though looking at the patch notes to some of the ability changes, they lowered the potency of their attacks and change recast time from 2.5 seconds to 15 seconds?

Now I haven't played the classes in a while and they are Damage Dealer classes, but doesn't this seem backwards for DPS classes? It looks to me like they made their damage output SLOWER and LOWER than before when I hear they both were on the bottom of the pole of DD classes and both a Tank and Healer class could out damage them which is bad.

I know they have a utility of support abilities and mechanics to help the party out, but it seems utilizing those skills show IMPROVE their damage output and control instead of weakening them. Sure they're not Melee Damage Dealers but they should do a heck of a lot more damage than Tanks and Healers.

Though I'm not sure. Anyone who's tested them out tell me did SE make them better or worse in 3.01?

A few abilities had their damage decreased by 10%, but your caster stance now gives 10% more damage, so they even out to the same amount. On the other hand, the caster stance is now instant to use instead of a cast, but has a longer recast.

From what I'm hearing, you're looking at about an 8% damage increase from the changes.

The lowered the potency of certain abilities because they raised the damage increase of wanderers minuet/gauss barrel from 20% to 30%

Now I don't balance jobs, so I can only assume that if they didn't lower the potency of the abilities they did, the jobs would be doing more damage than they intend for them to do.

I see so they're a little bit better than when HW launched. Now the question is... are they right where they want to be for players to enjoy the classes or are they still problematic and players refusing to use them or have them in parties via DF? I noticed people want to avoid MCH a lot due to their lower damage output and making dungeon runs longer than need be.

It's to discourge toggling the respective modes just for that ability (specifically ricochet in the case of MCH). Thats what I used to do before the GB buff for my wildfire hits.

At the moment I enjoy the class less with these changes but it's tolerable, I do however lack sufficient evidence to decide whether SE have ruined it completely for me personally in terms of DPS parser information with big enough sample size to determine if is issue with just myself, just some people or if it is continued problems related to the class design itself for all.

It's a lot more viable to stance dance, and it really does increases your dps. Sadly you can't be even a little lazy, though.

Tbh, from what I noticed, they pretty much killed ricochet's burst damage :/ Went from doing 4.3k, single target boss or 1 shotting certain adds, to barely breaking 1k. I've actually noticed dungeons are taking a good 8-10 minutes longer than before the "buff". I went from being able to kill 3 of the adds on fractal boss before the other dps killed one pre-"fix", to barely being able to kill 1 1/2 by the time they're helping kill mine.

Like I said in another topic, this "fix" feels more like a nerf and they're trying to trick us into thinking the 10% on GB is a "buff"

It's a buff but the Sidewinder and Ricochet nerfs don't seem to be justified at all.

New change is amazing for mch, popping out 4-5k wildfires very easily in semi lazy mode

Sure it may be possible now to hit 6k with perfect burst rotation

You know, I was talking with my FCOB brd and he said he still didn't like the buffs mainly because how minuet works against brd's many ogcds. So...how about they bring back steadfast mechanic and put it on BRD? IIRC steadfast in 1.x was war's stance where standing in one place longer gave them a parry buff for being able to stand still.

So what if they make heavy shot (that's still brd's standard basic shot right?) grants a brd stacking buff of up to 3 that grants damage to the brd (like 3% each?) but moving even a little bit deletes all the stacks. That way brd still gets auto attacks and their ogcds uninterfered and a 9% damage buff (or more or less depending on balance) as long they can stay still. Just a thought.

From what people tell me bard is better.. Of course that's only true if you're a level 52 or higher.
