It's never too soon for a thread like this. I'd like to tell you a story of why we desperately need Battle Regimen back in this game:
- Tonight my linkshell was fighting batraal, it was our last run of the night and nothing had gone right with our luck this run. I look at the clock; we only have 30 seconds to beat Batraal, and we are still fighting the skeletons. I say to the group, "We need to do another full BR after skellies."
We come off the portal, skeletons dead, time quickly running out. We stack the BR, "mages stack spells quick!", they do, I stack/fire..... Batraal still has about 5-6% HP. Someone else yells "Again!" we stack a few weaponskills and Batraal dies. We get that third Templar's Falchion of the night and the linkshell event ends well.
Without BR it won't be the same at all. Sure people can still accomplish good damage without it, but it will never capture that feeling. Everyone in that group pulled together for us to win that fight. Not "everyone was pressing 1,3, 5, 6, 0, 1, 1, 1, 2" as efficiently as humanly possible.
That experience demonstrates why I play MMO's, and it is not just in endgame. Ask anyone who has been in one of my pick up parties on Selbina when we get a good BR going "grinding" is so much more enjoyable. You really get that feeling like "this is a great group" instead of merely "I'm a great player".
So many people have fond memories of the skill chain system in FFXI, sadly not everyone understood/was very good with this system and it didn't get the emphasis it should have in game design. Bring back BR, bring back the feeling of actually fighting as a team with the new party system. That is the single most important aspect of combat, that you are not playing in a box and that everyone in the group is contributing.
Bring back Battle Regimens!!!!

They didn't say it's going away permanently did they? i think they just say they cant make it work yet with new claiming system and are going to do away with it while they are trying to fix that issue, and re-working BR (more user friendly-ness?) in the meantime.

I think it is a pretty reasonable request I am making, Battle Regimens are a huge selling point for me on this game out of all the new MMO crop they need to bring them back ASAP.Quote:

For all of you guys saying it's temporarily removed, read between the lines. It's being taken out with no date of it being placed back in. That's what we call the chopping block. Battle Regimen is an awesome system that requires some training to use.
I suggest they change the BR system to let you stack commands and also take action in the meantime. Kind of like if you shout to your teammates in a battle to get ready to launch an attack while continuing to dodge or cast spells. If they do that I think we'll be set.
Please bring it back and don't axe it - if anything, please add to it. -

I believe they already mentioned some changes to reintroducing BR. If I recall correctly it was mentioned that BRs would come back with possible solo skill chains, and I wouldn't exactly be surprised if they didn't take the Chrono Trigger approach to skill combos with BRs. A whole system has to be removed and recoded from scratch with a new concept.

If you could code any faster I'd like you to try...if you can't appreciate the thought and the hard work of peoples making the game for you go elsewhere. Comments like OMG it's so buggy, they spent all this time to make this lil silly event, like is lame or that is lame and that...well what if I told you some poor guy spent his whole month coding that lil event for you to bring you a lil joy and all you did was just stomp on his little gift to you. You could have said that was cute thank you for the short and sweet lil gift. Oh team I found a bug could you fix in your next patch Thank you!
Instead of this...this is stupid and sucks and blah blah day in and day out would you want to provide me with anything? Or would you slam the door shut on me? Worst yet would maybe you retreat and never come out of your shell. Encourage the team and thank them for their hard work. Your demands only anger people and shows naivety towards the situation.
