Convenience of reporting to the proper authorities

I know this request is unpopular, but the current format of reporting in game dishonesty (botting, gil purchasing as well as other services provided by RMT) is in a very inconvenient format.

Ui Improvments Right click feature:
I would like a system that is entierly in game, not on the support desk UI portion.
By targeting the suspect, the option to right click > report (opens submenu) > select offence (Botting, gil advertisement, seller, buyer, harassment, etc). Once selecting the offence the report gets sent to the appropriate authority. Either to the in game GM team, or reports more suited for the STF gets sent to them.

I think that would improve the report system to be more convenient for the players to use, while also reducing the workload for GM's. Seeing as GM's are primarily only dealing with a portion of the offences, the rest needs to be addressed directly to the STF on your website. That is very inconvenient for the player, (assumption) alot of wasted time for your GM's redirecting players to send their report to the STF rather then the GM's.

Botting has a negative impact on the economy and community, just as much as RMT spam annoys everyone. Keep in mind that the only reason RMT are around is that some dishonest individuals use their services.

Report cheaters, do some good for Eorzea.

Have to agree, this is something I've posted about before to. Right click and an instant report option is sorely needed. As is, it's more convenient to just /busy and ignore them rather than having to stop, fill out the report, and then having the new ticket alert from support thing constantly appear whenever you zone.

Personally this approach scares me because it would become much too easy for people to report by accident...

There is no need to be worried, the right click report system with a sub menu. First of all would be very difficult to accidently report anyone. as it would require you to first click the report to open submenu then click on one of the offences listed. When selecting that it would get sent to the appropriate authorities.
So reports would be sent either to the STF or GM's. And if someone gets reported and they have done no wrong, then no action would be taken against them.
So there really is no need for concern about adding convenience towards reporting dishonest players.

Play honestly and with integrity no reason to worry.

As you said Innocent player, a report leads to an investigation. They dont go around banning players that have been reported, they investigate. And if they find no foul play nothing happens. The innocent player wont even know they have been investigated, they dont disclose that kind of information.

..and then they get baned for false reporting. Also they will need to be captured in the act as well or be reported multiple times by more then 1 player to get the attention of a gm as well.

My vote for this one, too. Reporting is overly complicated and such a hassle that the few times I've encountered something report-worthy I've not bothered to.

The button should lead to a report form and already have things filled in like name of the offending character, date, time and location. You know, all the basic stuff.

No form should be required, lets request convenience and leave the forms in the past.
By right clicking on a suspected cheater/rmt or such. selecting the appropriate submenu. When you send the report, time,day,name of target, name of sender all that information is allready there for them to utilise. no need for forms or prefilled forms for us to see. Just right click > report >submenu > (offence)for example botting. when selecting the final step, report gets sent to the appropriate authority. And in the case of bots that would be the STF, if it was an harassment claim then it would be sent to the GM team.

I support this. I tried to report a gil seller for spamming once, but decided it wasn't worth the trouble with how complicated it is to report something.

I would also change up the AFK logout feature to only kick those using bots (player ones AND the ones working for the latter) or doing RMT as they are the people that are really crowding up the servers...since the people that are being kicked and are forced to log back in due to this mechanic will come back and eventually play more. (I say this from personal experience with the kicking thing as my controller goes to 'sleep' after a few minutes of not being used and narrowly missing/all out missing the chance to cancel the auto log out cause I had to 'wake up' the darned controller.)

The change to that should be: The kick sends THOSE people to a queue that can't be cancelled until the game actually lets them back in. (they have to be around in order to cancel the log out timer though which I'm guessing the bot program can't do)

I also agree with those other suggestions to change the reporting/blacklisting UI.

The way the system works in other games is that when you right click report someone, that person is placed on a temporary squelch list that lasts until you log off next, meaning, its not filling your ignore list.

It sends a report of who, what they said, what channel and a timestamp directly to the GM department.

Enough auto reports in a time frame in WoW auto boots you off the server for a short period of time, but I have yet to actually see it happen to someone that didn't outright deserve it(think absurd amounts of f bomb profanity spewing in general chat).

They can even stick it at the very bottom of the list so there's no "accidental" reporting rather than sending a tell or something. EQ2 had to move their menu around a bit because of that >.>

I still think a form should be an option. What if it's a situation where typing in extra details would help?

Signed no reason we should have this. Also take the limit off the BL.

If a form is required, then the current support desk ui will provide such an option. But in general reporting should be convenience for us that is doing the reporting, rather then layered behind inconvenience. So that the only convenience is for the cheaters, since people gets struck with apathy when they have to jump trough hoops to attempt to report.

I just personaly think that we need the highest convenience possible when reporting, when i am faced with a hoard of botters. And i wish to report them all i will need to go to the support website find the STF section and report each individal bot using a form on the website. That is very time consuming and i do not understand why i cant have an option in game to right click report botting and have that report send directly to the STF. All information should be available on the right click, offenders name, time, zone, situation. As well as my name sending the report.

By adding a right click feature, they could add an optional form tab aswell. Options are good, currently we have few.

They are not RMT so it does not matter. The 3 man ban squad will ignore all bots that dont rmt. Ive seen people over course of 2 years obtain almost every relic through botting light phases and atmas. Seeing them afk run into the ground with the afk icon over the head obviously is not enough evidence. Need to record the pc with the bot running or a confession from them through whisper is prbably the only way they will get any slap on the wrist.

The support system is just plain bad. It's too extreme. One time in Mor Dhona a player was doing a laugh emote at someone else, but flooding it to the point my chat was just that. The other player was saying stop and trying to run away, and the guy was chasing him around just doing the laugh emote over and over and over. So much that when people would say something, it would disappear instantly because he was flooding. So I thought screw this and I filed a complaint with the support system. Next thing I know I'm getting pulled out of Garuda HM to a GM asking for more info about who was harassing me (when I said it wasn't me and explained in my notes). Then after that I got a thing saying support ticket updated, you'd go in and it would say about they are looking into it. Problem was for a MONTH after that, I'd get that notification EVERY 15 minutes saying my support ticket was answered but would be the same message. Dismissing it would do nothing so finally had to call SE to complain. Last time I ever report someone again. The "Your support desk ticket has just been updated" message would be huge and go across your screen, so mid battle it would constantly appear blocking what you're trying to do.
