A filler is that skill or spell you do when you have nothing better to do.
In the Summoner's case:
1) Your DoTs must be applied at all times to all intended targets.
2) Use Ruin when you don't need to do step 1.
Ruin is the SMN's filler spell, much like WoW's Shaman's Lightning Bolt.
Now the subject here is what is most SMN's is their Lightning Chain, which is the WoW's Shaman's AoE Filler.
For the longest time players have already determined what is now Tri-Bind to be ineffective as an AoE Filler.
What bugs me is why nearly all of the never use Blizzard 2? Despite having to be close, it's cheaper, faster, and stronger than Tri-Bind, and slightly weaker than Ruin. It's also a good follow up for Miasma2.
And I'm talking about when it is obviously safe to be close in a mob of over 4 enemies.
I find it very annoying to constantly see only myself take advantage of Bliz2 in huge mob battles.
So what's up with this?

Why do you assume noone uses blizzard II? People use it all the time. Also I'm pretty sure people know what filler means.

youre correct, blizz 2 + miasma ii every 5 gcds is the damage optimal aoe filler for smn at 3+ mobs. its only downside is that its pretty mana heavy, but not nearly enough people take advantage of it regardless.

I haven't gotten to Ruin 3 yet but already I'm loving that it's a thing. . .other than the part I need DWT to make it good.
Also got in heated argument again, the guy is so intent on downplaying it just because how good it is for BLMs. And this same guy spams Miasma2 as an AoE filler. It makes no sense. >_> -

Yeah I finally got the DWT and it sure is putting a dent in my ability to maximize AoE DPS. By the time I get DWT, my shadow flare ends along with my other DoTs on other targets, and with no charges for bane I'm struck down Misma2, Shadow Flare, and Bliz 2 for all targets excluding the one I Tri-Disaster.
How to deal with this?

if you have any naysayers about blizz2 just ask them if they prefer an 80 potency attack to a 100+ potency attack, suppose there are 4 mobs, that's 200 potency. Unless you want to burn a very specific target down, blizz twooooooooooooooooo

If anyone else is at all pulling their weight, you will double the next highest person and things should be dead shortly after, allowing you to do a 3 stack rotation on the next pull. If they're not, you can try a slower rotation that's more total DPS for 3 stacks:
Bio 2 > Miasma > Bio > Pain + Bane > SC Shadow Flare > Rouse + Spur > M2 > Aerial Slash, RS + Enkindle > B2 > B2 > Painflare > DWT > B2 > Aetherflow > B2 > 3D + Contagion > B2 > Bane if it's Contagioned > B2s > Deathflare
If the pull requires more Aetherflow stacks than this, weep as you realize you have picked up PUG DPS, and wing it after with more Painflares mostly into an early extra Deathflare.
Ifrit is mostly the same except you want to do the second rotation by default, unless you have really high group DPS and you can get away with a 3D Bane into 2 Painflares and the pull's done around the time of your Deathflare anyway. Use Radiant Shield of course. -

I have no idea why people keep bashing Blizzard 2... after my dots and all the tralalala, I'm spamming it like a lvl50 blm would spam fire. It's very simple, Blizzard 2 is the best filler skill for when there are 2 or more targets. Unless you're in DWT, then use Ruin 3 for 2 targets, and Blizzard 2 for 3 or more targets.
