I love this game but why do i want to leave ?

Hello guys, i recently resubbed to discover the new extension. The story is still awesome, as intended, the music and the new zones are so lovely, the new equipments, jobs, skills and bestiary are so awesome.

But tonight i'll hit level 60 and i have the same feeling i had when i previously quit during the 2.2. I feel like the " solo " content is totally thrown away. It's true, we have mutliple jobs, craft jobs, a bunch of vanity gears, an incredible amount of daily activities ti stay entertained but i don't feel implied in this world.
If at least the daily activities required to communicate with other players, i 'd feel so happy because we're on a MMO and not on an ORPG right ?

Yes, we have more content but the only way the game rewards me is when i just spend my time on it. Common, even the new dungeons, as well as the brutal ones ( lol, brutal ... ) they introduced are just buttons mashing. And every day, i see a bunch of people connected and ignoring you when you say hi or emote them. I guess they are too busy to make their daily things.....

Why do every MMO nowadays gives so much importance to HL content ? Damn, that's boring. I don't want to just log 1 h a day to have fun on HL and stay connected 4 more hours to make boring daily activities. I want 5 hours of fun per day, just make the game more difficult !!!! ( but i know they won't so yeah... )

Are you in a good FC, or one at all? Honestly I feel a good one can help alleviate the issues you feel, even if its just doing these things together.

Yeah, i'm did my job and found a good FC. The problem is that every player has this fast-food mentality, even if they are good players, and they just want their daily law tombstones or daily hunts and that's it. They don't care about the lore, the exploration, etc.....

Zombie-mode ON i guess :(

For someone who started in 2013, you should know editing posts allow you an unlimited amount of characters =)

Brutal is Extreme in the english client by the way.

Why so much content is high leveled focused? Welp, if people get bored at lv60, what are they gonna do? Unsub.

Leveling, seeing the main scenario quest is all dandy and fun, but the real meat in MMORPGs is endgame content.

That's why SE is pushing content updates every 2-3 months, otherwise people will get bored too fast.

A lot of people are playing on Playstation 3/4 and too lazy to type anything, they don't even say "hi" in dungeons, don't expect them to go out of their way to emote you back. The community is pretty silent and shy.

Still better than the cesspool that is /2 Tradechat in WoW >_>

I dunno, if you really want to focus so much on communicating, try joining a social linkshell and / or FC maybe?

I think this is more about the players than about the game itself. Players create the community, their own culture and their own rules. The developer already provided plenty of ways to communicate: A really beautiful story, DF, dungeons where you have no choice but to go in order to complete the story, Free company with various goodies, linkshells for hunts and chats. Even with all those, if the players want to isolate themselves, what else can we do?

In the end, if you want to find someone with mentality like yours, you have no choice but to search for them. I'm sure they are somewhere out there.

i understand your answers but my real problem is due to the difficulty of the solo content. If they raised the difficulty, people would communicate because they have to but now that we just have to mash buttons, i find i so boring.

Socializing is fun and i try to do that as much as possible but my boredom is still there when i do my daily activities.

As a PS4 player, I admit we tend to be silent. This is because typing without a keyboard is a bitch.
Even with a keyboard, it's more awkward than if you're working on a PC.
I have to put down my controller, pick up my keyboard, hit enter, wait for it to respond (Bluetooth, takes a couple of seconds), type my reply, check if my hands are positioned correctly (which they invariably aren't, since it's on my lap), delete my mistakes, and send.
It doesn't sound like much, but when you have a couch and a coffee table to work with, it suddenly feels like a big deal.

But yes, we should emote more.

Re Lore, Have you tried going to the Lore forums, and asking them if there are any Lore-centric FCs?

Isn't there a french forum area?

This has to be the quietest MMO I've ever played and I've been playing MMO's for 18 years.

Okay, forcing people to talk to you because you're lonely isn't gonna make them happy. In addition, making even the typical daily content balls-wrangling hard isn't gonna improve people's disposition either.

The daily objectives are just to steadily improve a character's progress for upcoming content that is actually designed to challenge. It's the method that allows even someone with only 2-3 hours a playtime in the week to improve equipment for that one day where they get do something long and challenging. That's the entire design of the raid night. And it's a good way to do things.

I agree with you OP.

I run a lot of dungeons and I always feel weird after being the only person who even said "hi" at the beginning. And some people only talk when it's negative. Feels like a toxic community overall. Rarely you get a fun party with people joking and role-playing but this is very, very rare. People treat duty finder like a throw away service, you don't even deserve a welcoming notion. I still think SE should allow a button to only join people on your server (outside of using party finder to help attract the shy people) so you could try to build friendships versus just playing with strangers.

I've tried joining very large free companies and small ones. Even then it feels like everyone is quiet and does their own thing. FFXIV was designed to be a casual theme park, you really don't need anyone... at all. I believe this is the primary issue with FF14, not to blame the community but blame the very way the game was designed. The game is oddly anti-social, toxic and at times extremely unwelcoming.

They tried to make us work together with HUNTS but it doesn't require teamwork, communication or skill. And most times it just turns into a bloodbath of rage when people pull too early. Again, just turns into something extremely toxic and it's an activity I choose to avoid because of this. Now, I can't get my 180 equipment because I don't want to be surrounded by hostility.

I say all of this because I truly do care for this game, and I will continue to play it. There are some really great people who play this game. Balmung for instance has role-playing and the community is very active. I love listening to the conversations or the role-play chatter. There is always hope in the community to help alleviate the flaws of the game.

I understand all that. Most of my DF runs are either quiet till something goes wrong or everyone gives a generic hi and gg. I was in a FC that was very small and because no one wanted to sick around after joining, things kind of died down until I joined another FC that's very active and very friendly. Raymatsu, since we're both in the same worlds, I could invite you to my FC if you aren't in one already.

Pour ce qui est de la limite des 1000 caractères, tu peux éditer tes posts, donc juste écrire un peu tes pensées, tu cliques send, ensuite tu cliques édit et là tu peux écrire autant que tu veux (je sais, c'est vraiment con, mais comme enregistrer les jeux sur Moogle Station, tellement confu, on peux voir que le management est à chier chez SE, une chance que leurs jeux sont bons ^^

Je suis désolé d'entendre que tu peines à trouver ta place, même au niv 60. Une communauté se lie par ses membres, donc si tu causes et que personne te réponds, change de monde!

I'm sorry to hear that you don't find your place, even on level 60. A community is bound by its members , so if you talk and no one replies, time to switch to another world!

By far most anti-social MMO i have ever played. (automatic party creating makes it so). Played Age of Conan for 5-6 years and servers barely had more than few hundred players at the peak time and still it was a lot more social.
I also think it is very rude to ignore someone if he/s says hello to you in dungeons. I'm not a zombie who comes to dungeon to get tokens, i'm there for fun and to play with others :). Tokens are just extra.

I still enjoy the game, i just find it sad that we play MMO, but we still won't speak with anyone. Maybe i survived so far these 2 weeks because i joined to guild which is very social, but you should not be forced to join guild if you want social activity

Also game misses a global chat which is a huge negative point, that literally forces you to join to guild.

Ps. I always give player commendation to players who talk and are friendly no matter how bad players they are. So you quiet elitist tanks who won't say a word, dont bother waiting at dungeon exit that player commendation because its not coming for you, ever. (Not aiming anyone on this thread, just a general feedback)

Alexander opens next week. so raids are in this game. I have way to much stuff to do even after hitting 60. Gotta get my ilvl up to do EX modes and lvl my gathering/crafting up to make some gil. Lvl other classes. If players need others to hold there hand to find friends you have issues. Just be nice get out there and make some friends. Join a smaller FC join 8 linkshells and chat with people. DF is a issue with being social it happened in wow when they added it. People dont care they wont see you agian so why bother chatting. But I have had many groups that chat back and forth so its out there.

FFXIV cannot be a social game. You cant speak as such, there is no iteraction possible not even with your own team member, you cant socialie if you are in a dungeon with your friends, and when you they cant because in a dungeon, you cant stop and talk, because a S rank just happened to appear and the guy needs to run, etc etc etc.. this game is all BUT social, in fact you are more alone in a FC then if you are without. If I spent of all my time in this game more then 3 months all in all in a FC is alot.. what for ?... friends are only your friends IF they can get out of you something. A FC needs you because you add to their numbers, unless you are close friends like in RL to them then of course you have more value, sort of. You play the game for yourself, not for the others, once you understand this, the rest is totally irrilevant.

Holy cow. I'm beginning to think I'm playing a totally different game than the rest of you. I started my FC way back at 2.0 launch and we've grown to 108 members now. We get along great and hold events often. We're very social, sometimes I actually have to turn chat off just to focus, lol. We banded together to build an airship on day 1 of early access. We gear up together. Raid together. Have fun together.

Even on DF, yes, it can be silent. But effort has to be made to break the silence. Crack a joke, do goofy emotes, etc. Break the ice! Socialization isn't all about waiting for someone to communicate to you. And if the initial icebreaker fails, try another!

But, i will agree on one point. This community has become one focused heavily on speed. Players are so busy rushing to 60, rushing to clear, rushing to make gil, rushing to get moar moar MOAR. In this frantic rush, cooperation is lost and competition rises. Players get a sense of entitlement, rather than accomplishment. It's rare to see others helping new players rather than bashing them for not being on their level. i see new players, especially tanks, fail constantly because veterans would rather rush through content their way and expect new players to "get gud pls", rather than trying to teach them how to get good.

All in all, it's mixed community. But if you find your FC/Ls isn't to your likings, go find another! Don't join an FC just because it's the biggest or most prestigious. Join one because it's fun! This is a game, not a job. Enjoy it. ^_^

Since he stated he found a good FC he can always try what me and my FC mates do. We Mumble chat even if we are doing solo content. This way we are still BSing with each other even if we aren't actually raiding together. It makes a huge difference.

Most of them are chatting in voice chat that's why. In my FC we are mostly chatting in mumble and many times in FC chat too.

Absolutely agree with all of that. My FC barely has a focus, bar being social, chatting, and enjoying ourselves. We're quite aimless, but that's a good thing. It means everyone does their own thing, but when someone needs something, they have a player base to rely on.
We help each other level classes, explain stuff to newer players, show off to each other, joke around, discuss stuff that interests us or bothers us, and generally just have a good time.

I have noticed the focus on speed as well. The sheer amount of EXP needed to reach 60 from 50 should have meant people would take weeks, if not months to reach it.
I have no doubt there were day 1 Max levelers. A lot of the regulars in my FC weren't quite that bad, but definitely rushed to the end. To be fair, that's partially because that's where a lot of FFXIV's content is. I always felt that the game really started at 50. Maybe that's an issue with pacing, I don't know.

But I completely disagree with the concept that we are only friends with people who we want something from. Well, it's partially true: We want their COMPANY.

This is a result of instanced dungeons and queues; having played a pre WoW MMO (DAoC), I definitely prefer this setup, but I do agree it can be isolating. I'd recommend a static and a more social FC. In addition, you can build up that server community, but it does take work.
