Hey guys, I've been reading quite a bit these forums here and on reddit and I've noticed that the impression people have gained from Astrologian is that they aren't very viable compared to other healers, I'd have to disagree on the part about Astrologians not being effective or weak compared to other healers.
Astrologian promotes different kind of healing game compared to other healers, I personally really enjoy astrologian and I want to say that people should really play what they enjoy the most and make that job work by their own style.

I'll give a like just because Astrologian managed to do it. But from a healing perspective, Ravana isn't actually difficult to heal at all. There's many breaks in which you can top people up and everything. As usual, if people are doing their part and minimizing unnecessary damage, it also takes away some stress from healing as well. Looking forward to that Solo Bissy EX healing~

Hey there, point of view from Astrologian is what was the most important subject, therefore the reference to Astrologian as a solo healer as for the Bismarck extreme as a solo healer, I've already done it as Astrologian and I find that fight easier to heal solo than Ravana extreme, I haven't taken a video from it. Ravana in other hand depends on many factors, such as solo tank which brings even more difficulty into the fight compared to having 2 tanks, I wanted to have more odds against this job so I could feel how much Astrologian can overcome the odds despite not having " get me out" skills in it's arsenal. If I wanted the easiest kill, I would've just gone Shield stance and ask him to solo the big damage instead of directing it to the raid and us getting cleaved, but my healing partner is scholar and I will be playing on "regen/whm" stance therefore I wanted to challenge my self as much as I could. Also our Dark knight parried twice during that whole fight.

Not really impressed by the solo tanking, as he was dodging the additional strikes from Tapasy and splitting the damage of the Blinding Blade with the group. Outside of that, there's no damage being dealt to the tank that might kill him. They usually share that damage of the Bliding Blade with the OT.
However, I'm truly impressed with the solo healing part. Grats on that! Got handicapped by people getting vulnerability up during the orbs and still kept it up. Nicely done there! -

Astrologians remind me of Scholars back in 2.0/2.1. They were capable of solo healing all fights including Titan Ex, but only the competent healers could pull it off. It required those well placed WD and succor spam. I was one of the few who conquered those solo heals while the fights were new.
Most others were on WHM bandwagon. Because I remember when 2.0 first launched, people had this same misconception about Scholar that they were weaker than WHM. But later on, they were proved to be just as good and many switched over, which caused over-abundance of SCHs.
History is repeating with AST. I knew they were capable of endgame, but people whine because it's not as OP as WHM. I love the challenge in healing. Now I wish I took AST to 60 first. The only disappointing part about AST is that majority of the class is just re-skinned WHM spells/traits with card gimmick thrown in. Come on SE, did you run out of ideas? -

It's just a matter of the abilities bringing something to the table or making things much more efficient. The issue is with AST is the latter. DRK is the former(actually both in my opinion). Primals EX aren't end game content. It's not difficult at all.
You can see issue from the new class only during raid where you need a good synergy with all the party.

Personnally, I don't really see something usefull on raid with him. His buffs aren't really worth it or you need to be lucky during an entire fight. AST can solo heal the actual content of course, since it's not difficult at all if the party know their jobs.
But AST issues are real. I mean, he should have really great buff for the party but it's not the case. I mean, sorry for the comparison but, Selene gives a buff for all party member during 30 seconds, all the 30 seconds with 100% chance.
AST is not supposed to do it better? Or is he supposed to be always lucky? For me AST should buff the party better than other healer jobs. The heal potency doesn't matter, I don't wanna see a whitemage V2. -

Heya great Video.
While it really encourages me playing DarkKnight further i can't give you full Credit only 6/10.
Why? Well because of your DPS Setup. You have a Monk (highest Melee Output) Bard (best Support Output) 2 Summoners and 2 Black Mages. These are the best Overall DPS Output right now. Combined with the Foe Requim they are even stronger.
So while you did take a DarkKnight and a Astrologian as a Heal you choose the "easiest" Way in Terms of DPS. And on a Sidenote the SMN could have healed themselve if the need would arise.
Nevertheless a nice Proof that DRK is not weaker than PDL or WAR. Thank you for that. -

Astro's are far from weak and yes extreme modes are end game right now so his credit is valid as end game per gear restrictions. Astro's will become stronger and stronger as our cards scale with gear and damage output. Change one of our cooldowns to allow us to change sects once in combat and the double draw issue from shuffle and we will be good to go. Being able to pump out regen then sect change to shielding everyone is a very powerful ability.

While the performance is good, after watching that video I fail to see exactly what the AST brings to the table which would make it more valuable in this kind of situation than WHM or SCH.
If anything, a WHM or SCH would have had less trouble with that fight, SCH especially with the benefit of using the Selene buff during burst windows.
So... while this video show that "it's possible!", I don't think the AST in itself (the job, not the player) does a particularly stellar job (pun very much intended) worth praising.
But if players still manage to do it... well, whatever then. -

If the Drk were eating those blinding blades solo, then I'd be impressed. But he was splitting the damage amongst the whole group. Makes solo tanking a hell of a lot easier than if you were eating the blades solo, as they are the only immediate threat to a tanks life.

Save for example how fast they burned Ravana, the Paladin was eating the blades alone. Would probably be much harder had they hit the last phase, but I can still see them managing it.
The Astro solo healing however is pretty good. -

Have you tried solo healing those 2 primals as SCH/WHM tho? I didn't realize how weak AST is compared to sch until I actually started levelling my sch and I'm sure anyone would say the same if only they had the chance to experience how the 3 healers play. Very impressive performance, yes, but this does not prove that ast is not inferior to the other healers. Also, solo healing primals has always been doable. I'll be surprised when I see an AST solo healing t13 synced at lvl50.
