Hunts and instances

Seriously, I'm getting tired of this.

I know instances make 3.0 areas less laggy but c'mon... I've missed hunts now because I'm in the wrong instance. Can this please be changed? Like... Maybe gives us command to change instance quicker or take them down all together? Cause this is rather silly that I have to zone all together to change it which just takes time.

The real problem is upgrades being gated behind open-world mobs.

which is a good thing imo

competition makes content more challenging/difficult/fun (except you are pretty bad at accepting losses from time to time and want everything handed out with zero effort)

I'm sorry but there's nothing challenging about open world hunts other than the fact that the enemy will die in about 5 seconds from 100+ people mobbing it and you may not even be able to hit it once for credit

Now open world raids in other mmos were fun and challenging, but this current hunt system is far from that

And here I am still having no idea how to change instances. :Y

The challenge isn't killing them, it's getting a good information network (joining the right linkshells, seperate hunt parties keeping each other updated etc) and being aware of when and where they spawn. Not everything in the game is about being able to kill stuff quick. But yeah instances are a ball-ache.

you walk to a zone line and it'll ask you.

the biggest problem is Churning Mists doesn't even have a zone line, you zone in via an NPC.

You can gain Centurio Seals easy with the daily hunt marks, there is no problem with the cost of the upgrade items imo. The only problem if you want everything instantly >.>.

not necessarily instantly but if you want to be done in time for Alexander release, you're going to have to do more than dailies.

You will need to be gearing up with your static regardless, so if you are gearing with your friends it shouldn't be un-enjoyable. If you are rushing ahead ahead of everyone in your static then why are you? You will have to wait or help your static to gear if you get ahead of them. You also will not need to have full ilvl180 gear for Alexander, just play well.

who said anything about enjoyable/un-enjoyable?

Alexander normal is not a Static required Raid.

you can't help someone get Seals, how many bills they have and when A and S Rank pops aren't controlled by the players.

i'm sorry, but for me hunt is still a huge failure as feature, now with the instance it can be worst.

i see people say that the challenge it's to get a good network, i'm quite amused by this, do we pay for gather information only or fight challenge?
hunt was and will never be challenging for the sole reason that the monster can simply be zerged. no risk, no challenge, no fun... this system is still there simply because them number told them that a lot of player do it.... but a lot of player doing it hate it, they do it because it's the best way to get upgrade for the gears.

for me the hunt need to be changed drastically for offer a true feeling of hunt and challenge. but do it will happend? no because a part of the community want the NM, when it's the most archaic and unfair system of the mmorpg. often source of toxic situation... but well they want to have NM.... not because it's challenging or fun or enjoyable.... simply because it's easy! that the truth behind this.

Meh, well this thread turned out well. Rather than talk about possible change into getting to A and S hunts in 3.0 areas, it seems like it turned out to one of those threads were people complain how broken hunt is.

You don't wanna do hunts and upgrade your gear already? Then don't. <3

the goal of a forum is talk about the feature of the game, people will complain about broken feature, it's natural.
the fact people defend hunt come from the sole fact that it's an easy way to get what they want. not because it's challenging or fun, simply the fastest and easier way to get stuff they want.
actually if it was possible to have a feature that allows you to get one part of stuff for free every 4 hours it will be a blast for this sort of person .

the hunt as it stand is the most toxic feature of the FF14, it's almost the most bad side of the game, when i talk of the game to my friend is the part i want the less talk about, because it's soo bad that i'm ashamed to talk about it.

SE mastered to take a good feature and make it worse...
What i wonder most is why they refuse to listen, players already made many MANY suggestions how to fix the issue...

this i hate the hunt system with a passion due to all the bickering it causes... but i get seals easily just with the 3 daily hunts bills no need to rush to a million zones to listen to people fightin about early pulls :P

Mechanically, hunts were introduced so that non-raiding players could eventually reach the same ilevel as those running coil. I ran coil. I had full High Allagan and unweathered soldiery sets from earning them in coil, when it was current. I have no problem with casual players attaining upgrades outside of raids. But, gating those upgrades behind one open-world activity, which is being trivialized by linkshells, guildwork, and ffxivhunt.com is just stupid, in my opinion. If they're going to make seals THAT easy to obtain, they might as well let fates, dungeons, and other shit drop them so that players reach the same goal without engaging in all of the toxicity that hunting generates.

Either come up with design solutions to make hunts actual hunts. Or, drop the bullshit and let us get seals from something else too.

I think hunts could be so cool if a party of 8 was able to go out searching for monsters and actually fighting them alone. Make them truly challenging. That'd add a whole new dimension to the game.

have bigger area don't solve the main trouble of hunt, the sole fact that tons of player want to take part into hunting monster, but you have only 1 monster at the time for all this player is the main trouble that need to be fixed.

now i gonna ask something, why they try to control how much we get from hunt, while at the same time, allows one person to get reward for all the rank A and S, allowing some player to be already close of the full i180.
the hunt was means to be a content that are not tie to dungeon or raid, but was transformed into a farce, a FATE systeme without UI. but instead to make it's enough for the high population of the server, they have make this systeme exclusive by adding a small number of monster.

want some solution? here some solution that can solve tons of the trouble:

-1) make the FATE of boss killing reward seal of hunt, they are not different of the rank B, A, S, the only difference it's they are noted on the map. but the advantage to do this, it's to make possible for people to go in any area and get seal without fight about early pull or get toxic. other good point with this, it don't need a whole change of the game or the feature, since they simply need to place the right hunt seal instead of the GC seal.

-2) make the rare monster from leves reward be hunt seal, one more time a simple change, it will make more interesting to do leves for the one that want to get seal.

-3) change how work the hunt board, this one will recquire more change than the two before, but if it's well done... it can be quite interesting and give to the player that want non raid content or dungeon content something to do. how do this?
- first the dailies, begin by take out the limitation from it (you can adapt the reward for match this change), for each series completed your earn a token of hunt. this one is used for get special hunt request. (will talk of it after)
- second the rank B and A, take them out and only leave the Rank S, for this last one, reduce the reward and the respawn. you must make it an option for get the hunt seal, not the only one.
- Hunt request, a new system (that will be the most hard to work on but listen to me until the end), with the token from the old dailies, you can buy hunt request, that will work like a leves system, but will have a particularity. it will only say you, which area is the monster, after you launch the hunt request (requiring all the member of the group to be close of the leader) you will have 10 minutes for find and kill the target of the hunt request. for make simple we mix the hunt system actual, plus the leves system. why do this? because like this... no one will fight with other for get him hunt.

about the hunt request system, they can work on monster challenge and add some every patch because it's not different that simply design a boss fight without an area specific. they can even us old boss and change them a bit for add flavor and deep in the world. where it can be a killing, it will be possible to add hunt request for solo player, 4 player, 8 player or 24 player. it will give something to the FC to do outside raid. a good oppoturnity to offer to FC new activity.

with this system you can even work on a leaderboard about a guild that do the most hunt, adding a whole different type of gameplay to the game. and the best, no free for all.... then no complain about people early pulling or people not waiting... since your hunt is your hunt. and like i have said they can leave the rank S and adding more challenge from them fight, by reducing the reward and the respawn, while adding all the stuff i have said, you will have a deep system that will offer different option for get the same reward, meaning, people will not all be on the same option for get them reward. some will do fate, other rank S, other hunt request and even some will do leves.

more option, more challenge, more fun... no zerg, no toxic feature and more important no outdate feature a la free for all into a game with more of 3000 people per server!

Make A as Odin, Make S as mega bosses which needed a 3 alliance or more to kill.
