To me it feels like running AV with an undergeared group; perhaps things will be better at max level with raid gear?
Is this at 60? I'm currently 55 and having no issues but I didn't have any issues at 50 either.
It doesnt help that all these tanks want to rush through dungeons bc they think they can take hits. Spoiler alert: if i run out of MP you die.
Anywho. Yeah we run out a lot quicker. Its a big mp managing game. Ive been using shroud and the new aoe ability for mp a lot bit you have to time it lol i guess i like it as is bc you can just spam heal2 unless you want to run out
It's a gear issue, I think.
When we ran the 60 dungeons for the first time it was a nightmare with MP because I had to pump out Cure IIs to keep the tank alive. But the better geared a tank, the easier it becomes, and as a result the mp issues become smaller.
Hmm, idk, I haven't gotten around to any of the extreme trials yet, but with assize I can still pull off 3 holy pretty comfortably. This is even including those tanks that pull multiple packs of enemies.
To be honest, I think the mp got better, if anything.
It will ease up as everyone gets gear and locks down their rotations. It's only been a week and tanks are still gearing up. So we won't be able to take hits like we could when we overgeared everything and DPS won't be able to bring monsters down as quickly. The end result is longer fights where you are going to use more mana. Just give it some time and if it still hasn't balanced out in a few weeks, then it's time to do some number crunching.
Action costs have more than tripled while mp has only doubled is why. Thankfully Assiez helps with that. Its good training to get back out of the "unlimited mp rut" It would sure be nice if the tanks and dps in df realized we are weaker than before the expac, when everyone as way overgeared.
The spells must be tweaked to further gear progression for all healers. Did a sync HM trial on sch and the cost difference is huge. Some spells have increased 5 times since 50 but mp pool has not increased 5 fold it is just a little more then doubled. While a pain now will have to see the comparison and forethought near the end of HW.
I'd say this is mostly a gear issue, us and the tanks.
MP cost at lvl 60 has likely been attuned to i180/190/200 gear. Most of us are still obtaining a full i170. Our gear needs to catch up to the lvl 60 plateau.
On the flip side, the same is true for Tanks who are sitting in i145 doing double pulls in lvl 60 dungeons and expecting to still be just as pro, when in reality they're more like wet paper.
In my personal experience, since getting into some Yasha gear, my MP problems have dissipated. I often have plenty to go above and beyond in DPSing while providing stable heals in fights.
Give it time, and don't be afraid to use SoS and Assize when needed.
It's really no different than 2.0 release, we don't have the extra piety, our heals are less powerful and everybody takes more damage. All these issues will be alleviated as we get higher tier raid gear. I like the fact that I can't just afk spam heal through the new instances. If you compare apples to apples (i70 in 2.0 vs i180 in 3.0) the proportional cost of mp use vs total mp is pretty similar.
As other's have pointed out, this is in part because it's a gearing issue. Pre-patch, we were all Level 50 WHMs with i110+ gear which had potentially a ton of PIE on it.
Our current gear levels at 60 is like comparing us being at level 50 with ilvls 52-70. When I compared my first Coil WHM had about 4K MP. My current WHM gear in FCoB is about 5K. That's an additional 1K MP (or an additional 20mp/tick natively which adds up to an additional 5,200MP over the course of a 13 minute)
I imagine we'll see a similar type of growth when "final Alex" is released.
MP cost of spells has scaled up faster/unevenly compared to our MP pools. However, almost every piece of the law gear has piety and the esoterics might have it too.
Doesn't feel any different than when one would hit level 50 for the first time. Things will get better with gear.
This! ^
I noticed when I first hit 60 and ran Fractal/Neverreap, I was running out of mana ASAP. (Though I never had a problem w/ mana pre-60.) Now that my boyfriend and I have a bit of the Law gear, things aren't so bad, so I'm sure when we get esoteric gear/whatever else new gear that comes out, it will get better!
Yeah. Holy especially is very bad. At 1800MP it's draining your mana really fast.
It's bad enough that it has received two nerfs, but to not adjust the MP cost is just cruel.
Regarding having to spam Cure II is probably just a matter of gear level.
The MP situation at 60 in basic leveling gear should be roughly equivalent to how it was at 50 in i50 gear.
WHMs benefited from a lot of piety on their gear up to i130 so they had a bigger pool to spend from and faster MP regen as a result. A level 50 WHM in i130 gear was essentially outgearing their MP costs since skill costs scale to job level, not item level. Now you're at 60 you're not outgearing your MP costs again so you need to gear up again.
Every job will have seen something like this.
I've noticed that if you don't manage MP now it goes fast, but pop shroud when you're down 2k MP and take full advantage of Assize for healing the group and restoring MP.
Balance your mana restore CDs since we have more than 1 now and use them to their full benefit. Mana hasn't been a problem as long as I watch my bar and use CDs appropriately.
