I want to ride a train!

Airships, boats, chocobos, all great means of transportation. But wouldn't it be fun to ride a train? ^^ Remember FF6 and FF8? Trains are always a fun way to travel. Sit in a cabin with friends and watch the land go by quickly. Could have bandits attack from time to time. How about a "whodunit" mystery quest aboard the train?

Anyone else have any ideas?

Good concept but.. why bother wasting time on it, its gonna turn to instant travel anyway. lol

FF7 had a train too :D
It would be awesome to have an FFXIV train ride :D

Trains would fit Eorzea like a glove (Aesthetically at least). Old gritty Western style w/ some futuristic garlean style would be pretty awesome.

However, I don't think it would fit well into any currently released region unless it is planned ahead of time and is made alongside some serious map revamps.

So here's hoping it could be added in a future region!

I'd actually love to see a train system. You could have them as means to take you to major camps (obviously not straight TO the camp, it would have to be a nearby station, but still) faster than a chocobo, but without having to use your anima. Or, you could eventually use them as the means to make between continents in the future via underwater tunnel systems.

Chocobos: On Foot
Airships: Transport between cities
Trains/Boats: Transport between continents and/or near major camps

Honestly in the future I'd like to see multiple ways to get to the same place rather than the "you take this ONE boat/ship to get here" XI had (Ship from Mhaura to Whitegate). A network of transport, you could say.

There should be trains but you should have to hijack one to get into Garlean territory. Or wear Garlean Soldier uniform to get on.

I would really love to see trains in XIV. The Garlean Empire should have trains, right...?

Either way, I would at least love to "ride" an instanced one for a main story cutscene or event. How awesome would it be if you had to stop a Doomtrain?! :D Just thinking about it gets me pumped!

Someone actually brought up this idea before as some sort of event and/or end-game content. FFXI never really had that umph when it came to endgame. Sure, the boss fights were fun, and got harder as you fought, but I really think it'd be fun to make your way battling through a doom train and then getting to the front to fight a boss summoned by the Doom Train.

The Empire might have them...

Great idea, but yeah. Instant train ride.

It will come when Ishgard opens, and it will connect the new city with platform 9 3/4.

Jokes aside, that technology suits the empire more. We might see them there.

This could actually be incorporated into a quest, maybe even have fights in the train then climb onto the roof and battle more soldiers, then some big flying garlean machine comes down and you have to battle it, like what they had in FFVII when trying to stop the train smashing Barrets hometown.

I really like the idea of a train ride. Unfortunately, all non-instant travel eventually falls by the wayside. Maybe as part of a type of caravan defense in future Garlean territory. Makes me wish there had been some kind of train in Movapolis.

A train would be pretty cool.

Add a ghost train for an instanced dungeon. Fight your way from the back to the front.

If they make train ride my son gonna keep on telling me to ride it... he loves train... but would be interesting to have one.
I remember FFXI map dat had a train which never came out (at least never came out when I was playing)

I think a train would be a great Idea, but it will have to wait for a fifth city to be released.

I loved the trains in FF8. I don't think they belong in Eorzea but would totally but up for a train system and underground on Garlemald.

Would be cool if they were tunnelling from Garlemald to Ala Mhigo and thats how we enter The Garlean Empire territory.

You must of went on the wrong underground trains, go check out the underground trains in Japan :)

Great Idea I totally agree !! :D

Think of it like FF7s beginning. It could be an instance, at check points garlean troops spawn. After beating it your team can opt to just ride, so you can enjoy the on board bar.

Travelling with a train! I think it's a great idea. I love it, I hope they add it...
