Anyone super upset about replacing their ilvl130 gear right around level 54ish?
The Lv52 HQ Gathering/Crafting weapons... damn :o
Nope.

We knew this.
I didn't expect to keep wearing augmented 130 ironworks gear, all the way to lvl60.
Vertical Progression say, "Hai guys"... Nope.
Nope. And my SCH was BiS. I expected it and the news about them being replaced at 54ish was all over the place alongggggg time ago so it didn't even surprise me a tiny bit when expansion it.
54 bow i dropped from aery is almost better then my zeta XD looks cute to :P
The thing that made me feel weird today was the whole concept of the amount of worked I put into my current Nexus and then seeing the ilvl133 lance they handed me I was like "But my nexus...but that damage...."
Can we convert poetics into tomes of law once we hit 60? Or is that only at the end of an expac?
Im not upset about losing my i130 gear in the least. I actually think this is good. The expansion levelled the playing field for now so everyone can get a chance at starting fresh again and therefore catching up. (Atleast as far as crafting/gathering goes)
Nope, more excited about getting more upgrades really.
I think the way they handled it was fine. With the story quest gear anyone coming into heavensward at i90 wouldn't be too shell shocked going in. Also the veterans got to skip 3 tiers of equipment. i115, i125, and i132
.
That's how I felt about it honestly. I would've been disappointed, I guess, if our i130 carried us through the entire expansion. While its a bit of wobbly feeling for me to say good bye to this gear already, I can understand all the valid points made throughout this post. I think it's more "darn it!" for me because I literally just got my last i130 on Wednesday.
Welcome to gear-based MMOs. Where every expansion all that special, top-level gear becomes trash.
Seriously though, it's just part of the genre. Can't really complain about it, especially since the top-level gear you had in ARR was only top-level because it was gear from the latest update. Before that, it was ilvl 120, etc.
Nope. Was expected...and hey if iLv133 gear is better then hey...nice! I will still glamour my Dread Bard chest though to it because I love the look. That is what they make glamour for guys. Now working on the iLv 136 gear from Aeyer and hoping the bow drops soon just to see what it looks like...doubt it will be better than my Zeta yet.
They only ever convert the "lowest" Tome...Poetics will not get converted until much later.
I mostly just wanted people opinions about everything I wasn't complaining.
And yup I did say Nexus. I was working on the Zodiac Zeta and was able to get my Nexus. But now getting the Zeta seems extremely pointless and I probably won't.
How can anyone be sure Poetics will ever be convertible to start with? They're 2 entirely different level of tomes. I could see Poetics staying, along with the Ironworks gear, to give people reason to keep doing the level 50 dungeons if they want that stuff.
Also, I knew from the start that 130 would be replaced, and I'm actually happy it's at a midway point in the leveling process. I'd rather use new things than stick with what I've been using for god knows how long already, and see improvements every level instead of looking past everything for whatever is at 60.
Well if it helps any, the top end gear of this expac will be just as easily replaced whenever the second expac drops. Just how MMOs work. Kind of why I don't try to rush gearing characters. Then again I'm not an end-game content person much.
Also, thanks for the answers about conversions guys ^^ Guess we'll wait and see.
Nah, the new stuff looked a hell of a lot better than all my purple FCoB stuff.
They said our gear would be good up until around then so I expected it.
I'm PROBABLY just going to use my Zeta bow until sixty though because I'm a scrub. I don't care.
I like most of the new gear's aesthetics, so I don't really mind.
Even the reuse of old models is fine, since the armors dye really well. :)
I was pretty much expecting it to be about the range it is. I see nothing wrong with it since, regardless of WHEN exactly it would happen, by the time we hit 60 we would start replacing all the gear we've spent months or more getting.
Now relics of course will be a different issue, but 3.1 will tell wether they were worth it for some.
I did notice when I dyed some of the 56 monk gear that it's now dynamic with off colors rather than the situation we had with augmented ironworks gear
parts of the armor will change colors to match a bit better: Armor was a mix of green and yellow, apply snow white dye, armor is now black white grey.
What is there to be upset about? Are you saying that you wish it lasted longer? Or that it should have been replaced sooner? If you had i130 gear (i135 weapon) before expansion, you have a significant head start to work with. This was intentional and by design. If you remember, discussion a week or two ago involved "letting gear you worked so hard to achieve go to waste by being replaced by Level 51 cracked leather armor".
Personally I think they achieved a pretty good balance of building your gear up as you progress through the new content. Just look at the shop in Ishgard. Is the NPC gear cool, and strong, and useful for your alts? Yes!! Is it better than Ironworks or Dreadwyrm gear? No!! It's not even better than CT3 gear that some people have needlessly grinded their life away on. I think it's great that you can squeeze 4 more levels of life out of them.
Just glamour up and pretend your Ironworks gear is better than it really is. I'm kind of attached to the look so I may do it at some point, though there's a ton of new gear that also works just as well (looks wise).
But it's not always about the stats. If it winded up in a dungeon, it would have to be in a pre Heavensward dungeon, meaning a level 50 dungeon. Meaning it will still act as a bridge anyway, and be possibly even easier to obtain than before.
The gear remaining as is isn't even about acting as a bridge, hell you find i120 in your FIRST Heavensward dungeon anyway. If someone wants to grind out a full Ironworks set, including the items to upgrade them, instead of simply grinding to the level that puts you on a comparable ilvl, then let them? It's a hell of a lot more tedius, and more work than hitting the quests and newer dungeons and actually doing stuff that is meaningful.
If they did anything to it, they'd only be able to change the method to obtain it WITHIN ARR content, and would probably just get rid of Poetic tomes all together. However I cant see them doing this, because Ironworks acts as yet another reason for those at 60 to do level 50 dungeons if they wish to obtain the set for glamor. And then there are those who do not have Heavensward.
It's an EXPANSION guys, not just some content patch.
I expected this but I am still a bit shocked that there is already ilvl 190. The jump is too high. See you on ilvl 500 in 2 years. :D
