It seems Holy and Flare now both lose potency based on the total # of mobs, someone (@charmwitch) posted two screenshots on twitter but seems to have deleted them now.
I would really hate to see this happen to these spells, any truth to the nerf?

They are legit.
SE apparently real unhappy with speed pulls from Mages.
Probably due to the fact that people would use like double blm and whm + tank to speed run all dungeons for tomes. It was just way faster then any other set up.
Time for DRG + BRD to make a return.
It's balance, gotta consider how OP those spells were cause they were pure damage with no limitations and then you have SMN/SCH using 3 DoT Bane with a limit of 4 targets alltogether, that s a bit unbalanced imo so I"m glad to hear they are having dmg based on amount of targets now.
Yesterday was doing DD first rooms to level my WHM to 50, made it from 46 to 49 and a half in like 1 hour doing holy spam with another WHM... I say the nerf is needed rofl.

^That's actually incredibly sad. One of my most favorite things about this game is owning dungeons as a WHM. It makes each and every dungeon 10+ minutes faster.
I love jumping into a roulette with unsuspecting strangers and totally nuke the hell out of each dungeon/trial that I'm. No one expects it lol. Also, in most runs: I out DPS the DPS.
That said, you have to admit that both were very OP and were used in a way that was not originally intended, I'm sure.
A thing that keeps coming to mind on this is:
Speed runs are usually around 12-16 minutes, give or take?
Didn't they say that the new dungeons were made to be cleared in 18?
If this is the case, I don't think this will matter much to us in the end. Besides, we'll also all have new skills.

Yet another case of forcing their methods of fighting down our throats at the expense of relegating skills to the garbage heap. Flare still eats all of your MP, but now there's literally no incentive to cast it. White Mage has lost their only real reason to be casting Holy too, since it was already nerfed in damage a long while ago and we're not exactly known for our insane DPS.
If they don't want us using the damned things, then just remove them from the game. Don't nerf them to the point where it's meaningless to even bother. I'm looking at you, Blizzard II.
He's telling you to change to summoner, also WHM is getting Aero III.
Yeah, cuz BLM being king of AoE far and beyond anyone else and a healer being able to AoE spam dungeons was balanced.
Yeah, I'm waiting to see what diminishing returns THAT spell has and all... God forbid they ever do the smart thing and actually, ya know, make the others just as strong in AoE. Oh wait, they already did that for Summoner... guess they just wanted to reverse their roles?
The tool tip says enemies. Not Cast. So triple flair still exsist it just takes forever to kill mobs now.
The funny thing is, BLM isn't as strong single target BECAUSE they have high AoE.. which was stated by Yoshi himself when we last got a *small* buff iirc.
Well, this just reinforces Holy's solo 'oh shyt' button-ness and White Mage's party role as Healer. I don't see the problem.

Heaven forbid people will have to run through dungeons the right way instead of GameSharking their way through them. Maybe this'll also drive away the hotshot tanks who can't manage hate.

That potency costing 707mp? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. nope.
We'll see about this though. The MP cost seems to high for a single target ... so again just doesn't seem worth it.
If they bothered to give us skills that let a WHM manage their MP better the new skills wouldn't be an issue. Either that or give WHMs the MP pool to sustain it. Like how WAR has a larger HP pool compared to PLD.

MP cost is tied to either you max MP or level.
Since screenshots have showed that casters/healers will have 12k+ MP at level 60 with lv170 gear, those 700+MP that these spells will cost may not be so much.
This is seriously upsetting :( So what if we could speed run? I thought the classes were supposed to be unique. Yeah, I'm sure BLM will still be the best AoE class but this is a ridiculous nerf :/ WHM sorta makes sense--it is a healer after all, but seriously >.< Why not just a slight decrease in potency? D:
I did know BLM AoE was gonna get nerfed in exchange for better single target. Yoshi-P said something about that like a year ago. But dang. Wasn't expecting this :(
I understand how you may be upset by this but I personally do not define the term unique as speed-run mania. However everyone has their own opinions on things like this and are of course free to voice them, there's no such thing as a right or wrong opinion after all. :)
Remember that BLM is getting IV spells though.
And remember that White Mages are still being groomed as Healers despite the gearing of Alexander Savage with Healers DDing in mind.
But given the massive size of the attacks we dont know if those attacks are aoes or not. Or st least f4 being one.
