Count me in on that one!
I never understood the appeal to be "the bad guy" lately.
You guys are worse than the adventurers who give the Imperial Salute.
...and I persecute those people mercilessly!
it's not often you see players wanting to get nerfed!
Depends on what Lore they set the WoD in FF14 since the WoD in FF3 are people chosen to protect the world while keeping the Balance between Light and Darkness by keeping the Light in check since if the Light becomes too strong it will seek to consume the world.
Just like the WoL who are people chosen to protect the world while keeping the Balance between Light and Darkness by keeping the Darkness in check since if the Darkness becomes too strong it will seek to consume the world.
Why does being a warrior of darkness have to equal being evil? Light and Dark just are, no one is solely just one aspect so I see nothing wrong with wanting to be of the dark. Everything needs balance.
If you disbelieve that that Ascians and the Dark Crystal thingy Mr. Z? not evil well then... Why do you all think the Warriors of Light and the Crystal of Light are good?
And trusting the Ascians to think what they believe is equality? hah!
I would rather be part of the Garlien Empire. Tho Warrior of Darkness does have a nice ring to it.
It's not so much as to be the bad guy, so much as I kinda just don't want to be the Scion's goffer anymore. :B
Plus, like EdwinLi said, FF3 had Warriors of both Light and Dark to help keep the balance. The Warriors of Light protected the World of Light from Darkness, while the Warriors of Darkness protected the World of Darkness from Light.
Final Fantasy Dimensions lets you play as both in episodes, each unlock jobs the other couldn't get.
I really hope that XIV doesn't go the cliche route of Darkness = evil and that the Ascians aren't just flat villains. :B
I don't want to be a warrior of darkness , I'm just saying light and dark are just there doing their thing. It's gods and man that make a big deal out of it.
I guess I would actually prefer to be a WoD XD. I'm a night person for sure so it fits me better
Please look forward to Mass Effect: Heavensward
Also Gaius was right, we should have joined the Empire
meh. back to striving to find a balance between light and dark.
That position has been filled by <insert unnamed character here>
To be honest, its seems to me that the Ascians have been doing a bang up job of championing the Darkness and they seem far from interested in balance considering the talk about being consumed by the Darkness. More to the point, we must have been doing remarkably well considering anyone thinks we are disrupting the Balance considering by the last information we had the Mothercrystal has been getting progressively weaker.
I'd like to become an Ascian and serve Zodiark. Change my white and pink motif to like black and gold as an Astrologian.
Well we don't know who are the Warriors of Darkness. So far people have only assumed the Ascians are the WoD because they serve Zodiark but the trailer implies that the Ascians may not be the WoD but the WoD are possibly another group of people separate from the Ascians.
I can only guess the WoD are only appearing now because Zodiark is awakening so he has enough power now to choose the WoD like how Hydaelyn choose our character to be the WoL.
Er what I mean is that they don't need any Warriors of Darkness. They (The Ascians) are plenty.
Edit: Actually thinking about it... it could... very lightly... be that the Warrior of Dark doesn't work/help the Ascians.
As I see it the Ascians and Scions fill a similar role. The Warrior of Light then could use a Warrior of Darkness to mirror that set up.
Oh, no, if an Ascian offers me candies and they invite me to get in their rusty van, that's no-no. No, thanks. No. Really. No, way. I enjoy being a Warrior of Light, our life is more fun. The Ascians only plot against everything sending things and messing with Primals as if they were Pokémons. I'll just stick with that title and run across Eorzea to save it from either the Gar... le... no, wait. I want to be Garlean. :(
But why?
I mean yeah cool and dark and mysterious and whatnot
But you'll be serving the bad guy... in destroying everything...
Where is your honor in doing this???
Who said the WoD are the bad guys? So far the trailer hints that we have yet to meet the WoD until 3.0 also....
For all we know the Ascians have only claimed themselves to serve Zodiark and the Ascians have claimed what they believe is Zodiark's will but Zodiark has never once claimed that the Ascians are his real servants nor what is his will due to being a sleep the entire time.
Heck the Ascians may not even be servants of Zodiark but possibly fanatic Echo users that drove themselves into believe they serve Zodiark.
Would rather be an imperial myself. As for wanting to be the bad guys (assuming the warrior of darkness is in fact evil) sometimes it's just more enjoyable, the fact that our characters are 'absolute' good kind of annoys me.
Everyone wants to be the Riku
You will never be the Riku Sora
The announcement of "Warrior of Darkness" let me guess they will implement a better PvP and maybe we will get the choise to fight for the dark side...
Did you guys notice that the limit break 3 is the same as the dark knight move from Tactics. Shadowblade/night blade/Sanguine Sword

Can't we just be Garleans champions?
I mean seriously.. They can't be all that BAD!
Seriously, I mean our whole purpose is to unite Eorzea to stop the Ascians from plunging the world into eternal darkness. I think things would be going along a lot faster had everyone surrendered the lands to Gaius and the Empire in the first place. Yeah, the current city state leaders would probably be executedbut after recent events, like walking out of the room during a certain scene, I don't think a lot of people would object to a change of management. Plus we'd all have access to advanced Garlean tech/resources. At the very worst we'd be exactly where we are now dealing with the drama of mutiny but at least we'd have giant robots and gunswords while we do it.One of them happened to die anyways
I'm trying to find a downside but I can't.
I knew it was going to be a lala.
Incoming 'Warrior of Dank Memes'
Seeing a lot of people talking about ascians and not needing a WoD because they are enough, People have you forgotten your storyline or did you skip it because you wanted to speed clear? Only 3 Ascians can maintain their physical forms in Eorzea because they inhabit human forms one of them is dead now, the others require a host body in order to remain in our world for long. Without a body the ascians simply fade away after a few hours.
I doubt the warriors of darkness are related to the Ascians.

That being said, I still want to be a warrior of Drunkenness
