Sure, I'll shoot. I'm not getting the expansion till I read some objective and unbiased reviews on it. I'll also wait on the poop storm that will form in the forums to my final decision. So far everything that SE has put out on the expansion has it on the DON'T BUY, DON'T BUY column. Flying Mounts, I'm not interested. I already have the mount that I prefer and it ain't none of those color swapped horses.
The only thing has peaked my desire to bother with it is that Open World monster areas "quote, unquote" will be hard to navigate through. Other than that there's nothing. It's just looking to be more of the same from the last 2 years, and I don't have to list what those things are because everyone already know what they are.
So yeah, I'm not buying it.
I had it pre-ordered, then cancelled it.
The reason being I had enough of the game and all of the fun vanished. Doing the same things over and over for stuff that didn't exist began to kill my mind....and I was getting fat from playing too much.
yea I WAS going to do when i started playing in jan. I heard about HW- and my inital reaction was no way im paying $40 for expansion that may or may not be good. then i started playing more and see how much love, content, and detail the devs put into 2.0 and how much is in 3.0 i changed my mind.
keep in mind when 3.0 was 1st launched it was stated to be LESS than 2.0- now seems liek the areas got larger and 50 hours of gameplay. - seems like they stepped up. I support quality.
I'm curious as to what people not getting Heavensward intend to do following 3.0, updates are going to hold very little content for for players without Heavensward, if any at all... I imagine quit?
Let them figure it out.
maybe they haven't finished all the 2.0 content they wanted to do. I have not finished all the EXT primals nor the Coils at all. If it not for the new jobs, I would have probably waited to get the EXP.
As for other reasons not to get it- maybe gonna play other games or just not enough time
I would assume the original poster's question is aimed at people who plan on continuing to play the game, and not those who are planning on quitting (expansion or not). I can't imagine anyone who plans on sticking around being satisfied with owning a partial game (particularly once they've consumed all the current content).
Sure, I'll still log in on the 19th at 2 AM. SE can't block me or those without the expansion from doing that, as early access only applies to getting into Ishgard proper. I'll continue to craft and level up (slowly) with out the expansion. If I find out that crafting/gathering specializations are gated behind the expansion, which they shouldn't as the guilds are in ARR areas. Then I'll just put my hands up and call it the day and move on.
I'm at a point in videogaming that if expansion/dlc don't add anything substantially different and new to the game, I see at as not worth it.
I don't think you'll be able to level up past 50 without the expac :) @Natashio
you sound kinda salty tbh...sounds more like 'i'll login at 2am for no reason at all and just add to the server load, hopefully it crashes, so no one can play the expansion because i'm not playing it'
and lol @ thinking SE haven't added anything new and substantial with the expansion
some people
Not getting it because of money issues. Which will probably be fixed about ~2 weeks after HW launch, maybe a little less.
And as a tank main, it seems like 2 weeks is a LOT to miss out on. Hope I'm wrong. XD
I know. I read this that appeared in another thread and my right side of my brain exploded:http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/125...-Event-5-19%29Quote:
With the way the hard and expert dungeons from A Realm Reborn will be kept separate [[from Heavensward content]], will it be possible to level up there?
Yoshida: It was a tough decision, but we decided to leave it so that you will not obtain experience there at the start of Heavensward. As a development team, we believe that moving on past level 50 should happen on the Ishgard side. Because the new dungeons have a different pacing than the ones from A Realm Reborn, we were also afraid that people would gravitate towards the older instanced dungeons for more efficient experience.
After the situation settles down from the release of Heavensward, we might change things around by assigning some experience value, but that remains to be seen.
Hopefully it only applies to dungeons and to DoW/M jobs.
As a matter of fact, it does kind of remind me of how the game Destiny gates the weeklies and dailies behind the expansions. I can only assume SE didn't get this idea from that game. :X
I'm still undecided with timing anyway. I'd imagine I'll get it eventually but I am far behind with story content, and from what I understand even getting the expansion doesn't mean I can play until the story is done for. My crafting skills have just recently got to producing hq lv 30 gear. In which I've been making allot of late to fund fc housing which needs to get done sooner then later as all the plots are nearly gone.
So actually my post may be invalid since I will be getting it but likely not for sometime.
Natashio, you are being part of the unwinnable game for a developer.
Make lots of content in the same vein as the original game? People complain there's no new stuff.
Make lots of radically different content? People complain you're not being true to the game's history.
Make too little content? People complain there's nothing to do.
Make too much content? People complain they're overwhelmed.
The way I see it, Heavensward adds a lot of new story, new places to explore, new crafts, new stuff to gather, new raids at endgame, and so on. I'm curious, though; what are YOU hoping it will contain that will make you buy it?
I just want off the gear treadmill. Unless they somehow make current FCoB gear matter (increase ilvl and boss stats maybe? Apparently, WoW does something like that), I have no interest. I know people enjoy it, and feel it's the logical next step and that's understandable. It's just too much for me to feel like "Well, here we go again, tomes tomes tomes raid raid raid," while all of a sudden ignoring what I've done before. As long as I can clear T13 before the expansion, I'll feel closure.
I'm happy for anyone that will still enjoy it, but for me, personally that's been the biggest reason I just can't get excited.
Ya and before anyone chimes in, lv cap restrictions have always been a restriction on MMO's in which expansions have increased a level limit. So don't say that SE is being unfair to not allow people in 2.0 to level up to 60 without 3.0 because a lot of expansion pack MMOs do that.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Natashio is going to be severely disappointed when they realize they will not be able to level to 60 without the expansion.
So wait you want to be able to do something from the expansion without the expansion that makes no sense. Of coarse specialization will be gated behind the expansion just like flying is as well and the new classes. You can't be excited about something from the expansion then act like you have no interest in it but still want to use its mechanics it don't work that way.
Oh you certainly don't. Now if you plan on NEVER getting the expansion, you are putting yourself in a cell without a door.
It's really no rush though, I can definitely agree on HW being a massive overhype with the unnecessary urgency to get it, or all is lost attitude people have been having.
If i was just starting ARR at this point I prob wouldn't bother until down the road. As someone who has completed the MSQ and been playing over a year having exhausted most of the content I will be getting it. But I can understand not being able to or not wanting to get it. Do what makes you happy.
oh I only want gear to be able to enter content and then only complete sets b/c they look cool tbh. not for stats at all. like I only farm poetics to get bad ass looking iron works gear. and I dont know if you saw pics of newest ilv gear looks very anime- I HAVE TO HAVE IT
I wish i could turn a blind eye to the preorder bonuses and even the expansion itself like some people in this topic, would make my life so much easier.
I'm very busy irl, can't be pulled away from enjoying the summer and my enthusiasm for Heavensward has been severely lacking in general c_c
The main thing that interests me in 3.0 is, for the most part, just exploring/seeing/looking at new environments but apparently that's not enough. So yup, not rushing to get it just yet.
And you call your selfs gamers lol
Well, the only reason I pre-ordered was because I want the pre-order bonuses. If not for that, I'd probably hold off quite a while before getting the expansion, like maybe get it in six months or a year if I'm still actively playing at that point. There's far too much of ARR left to want all that additional content now. I'd rather finish the content we've already got before buying another whole set of it. I figure it'll likely take another year or so to finish all the level 50 content, maybe longer if I also finish leveling all my jobs as I've been planning to. (Then again, I might decide I want to start up the Au Ra alt I have in mind, and kick off that part of the expansion sooner. In any case though, I'm not likely to be heading anywhere near Ishgard any time soon.)
Its totally possible to stay fit and play video games as a past time. It goes hand in hand, if you have luxury time to play MMORPG's you can spend 20mins a day 3-5 days a week on a treadmill or jump rope. The time frame is there, just need the will power.
Theres also macro dieting, where you count your calories and stay within a target amount each passing day, over ate or indulged one day? carry over the extra calorie intake from yesterday to the next day and aim for that target amount. When you do it right you can have a cheeseburger every day with no workout sessions.
