Dyable Starter cloths, able to wear other races cultural gear.

I think this needs to be done, would look cool. =)

I agree that they should be dyable, but I like that all races have different gear.
If I could dye the miqote skirt black and teal I'd be so so happy

Dyeing would be cool. But wearing race-specific gear on all races would...defeat the purpose of it.

Dyeable - yes, I wouldn't mind that.
Other races - nope. This is one of two things (other being AF gear) that I much rather see restricted, actually.

I don't see why things are racially restricted. It might look goofy but it shouldn't restrict you from wearing it. Same with female gear for males and male gear for females.

I like the idea of the starter clothing being dyable but the uniqueness of race specific gear is also really cool. Either way I'd be happy with it. Those Elezen boots are awesome.

Well, the thing is you can get a high level crafter to recreate it for your race.

Dyeable, yes. Totally.

Unlocked for other races? Why not? They have official NPCs who have been adopted by other races. I wouldn't expect those NPCs to still wear their original race's cultural clothing but rather that of their adopted family, especially if the adoption was either early on or otherwise fully embraced. They even mentioned in the name lore somewhere (it's a while since I read it, so I don't recall where exactly) about mixing names if you want to pretend your character was adopted by another race...

Then again, I'd like it if they added separate cultural gear for subraces: Seekers and Keepers don't have the same culture, and I'd expect to see a difference in clothing due to this, and I don't think anyone can argue about Highlanders vs Midlanders -- heck, even their hempen underwear sets are different, yet the starter gear is the same.
Of course, culture is not the same as race, as per above example of cross-race adoption, and I'd like said cultural outfits to be available to other races as well.

The only race's clothing that would actually look odd (even if were to be made to fit on another race) would be Lalafel.

Hmm if someone could make an art of those like with the dancer looking outfit one, please do. (I'm curious to what it would look like)

Glad to see so many of the same mind here, keeping the cultural clothing of each race to themselves i think makes the most sense. i know i hate male Highlander starter gear but understand he should not dress himself like a Miqo'te/ Roegadyn male. Dye option would be great though.

I honestly don't see a point to having RACIAL gear put on races that aren't supposed to be wearing that gear.

Let's face it; the cutest outfit is Lalafellin racial gear. Why change it?

It shouldn't be racial in the first place. Its more like regional gear then "racial"

Honestly, its not like racial gear in other games. It is literally just some white and black clothing that suits the region.

I made a thread like this a few weeks ago. I completely agree about the dying. Elezen tights are too sexy not to be able to match well with other colors.

Quite the contrary, you'll only see Elf clothes on elves, human clothes on humans, Roe clothes on Roes, etc.

the problem is people want the basic sets, which are unique to the races themselves, on other races. I can already say without a shadow of a doubt that's not going to happen. Should they be dyable? Yes, please. Will they? I don't know, because I'm not a dev.

and hempen set? indifferent, I don't think I've seen 'em let alone used 'em.

Racial gear doesn't make sense in the first place since the races aren't divided. Grand company gear is the real "racial" gear. Also none of the starter gear even has a racial feel to it, it's mostly just different white shirts and a pair of pants or skirt.

Same goes for hempen underpants, there's no good reason to have them be race based, and I'd love to have more glamour options. :rolleyes:

The only glamour option I really want is a set like Lenneth's or Hrists from the Valkyrie Profile series.

What makes them so unique? They don't have anything that defines the race on them. They are basicly vests/long boots and PANTS.

For example the new armor, is suppost to be made for elves mostly yet everyone can shove them on. They are VERY elvish in design and you can plainly see that they were made for elves. HOWEVER their starter gear is basicly just some cloths.

Dyable yes, shareable no... personally I'd love to see more gear unique to each race.

Dyable yes but making each unique set available to all races, no thanks and I see you mentioned the female to male clothes and vice versa I feel they should be restricted both ways to their appropriate race/gender *Doesn't want to see guys in mini skirts & I am a woman*.
