will patch notes be up on the official release or at early access?

They are reading them at E3 which is soon so probably a little after that

SE usually has a youtube and twitch stream for E3 stuff.

Patch notes typical are posted on the lodestone site shortly after servers go down. I havent heard anything about them being read at E3, so that's news to me :).

Normally we get edited patch notes in advance of server downtime for major patches don't we?

I'm hoping that, given it's (almost) the 9th we should get at least some taster notes by the weekend.

Yeah same, if you hear or see anything let us know :). If they did do it however that would just prove how committed they are to the community.

It is a patch. Some things/systems are changing in ARR with the release of the expansion. And there is also a substantial patch that has to occur for all users to make sure that everyone stays compatible i.e. people that don't buy Heavensward are going to still need the files for new jobs, new gear, new abilities, etc. so their game doesn't crash whenever they run into someone with the expansion.

An extansion is just a patch that you have to buy if you want to access most of what it offers.

patch notes were alwasy first on Lodestone before Yoshida have read them from the Lodestone live.
