What is the best way to level up a new job?
I'd say, queue up for dungeons and do your hunting log while waiting. Also the challenge log gives you soo much exp.
Don't forget that guildhests give bonus exp to every new job you do it with
Queue for Dungeons.
Do the Low Level Roulette.
Do each Guildhest at least once, also do the Guildhest Roulette, may not seem like much but a Guildhest is only a couple of minutes long anyway.
Do FATEs.
Do what Challenge Log you can.
Do Levequests.
Dungeons are best IMO. Especially if you can score a friend to Queue with who is a Tank or Healer (Or both if you have enough friends)
FATEs solo while Qd for low level roulette or dungeons,
after you knock out low level roulette (which has a nice exp bonus)
you can keep solo fate farming, while qd for dungeons or join a party
for fates. Whichever suits your preferences.
the guildhest also rewards each class you can level, but sometimes the Q
on it is very long.
Be sure you have the challenge log open, it comes from a quest in limsa
adventurers guild. bonus exp and gil is never a bad thing.
I did a combo of fates and low level roulette for the most part on the
last class I leveled.
Do what everyone else has suggested, but I'd like to add don't forget to eat food, primarily for the experience boost. Even just lemons, which has no stat bonuses, just an experience bonus.
how long does it normally take to level a new job from level 1 to level 50 when i have a lvl 50 character already?
The absolute best way is as follows, and you will level very fast:
Tip #1: Stock up on some really cheap food. Do not worry if the stats of the food benefit your class or not. You only want it for the 3% boost in experience. If you can afford a cheap one that benefits your class, then even better, but it's not a requirement. Always keep a food buff going for anything that gives you experience. Make sure one is up throughout an entire dungeon and while turning in class quests, finishing FATES, turning in leves, doing hunting log, challenge log, etc.
Tip #2: Always fill out the FATE, guildhest, dungeon, and leve part of your challenge log, which should not be confused with your hunting log. You can skip the leve part once you're level 15, as 15 and beyond leves are not worth it for a combat class. So as you read the leveling guide below, keep that in mind.
Tip #3: Always do your class/job quest every 5 levels. Do not put it off. It should be your first priority. So let's say you are level 15 and you have a choice between going to do your class quest now, or doing a newly available level 15 guildhest, do the class quest first.
Level 1-10:
-Do your hunting log and levequests. Do a FATE close to your level if one is nearby.
Level 10-15, the slowest part of leveling:
-Do hunting log, levequests, and guildhests. Now you can start doing guildhests. Guildhests give you a first time experience bonus for each class you have not done that guildhest with yet. Do both level 10 guildhests for their first time bonuses. You will do this every 5 levels, as 2 are available every 5 levels with level 40 being the last ones. So for the below steps I won't be mentioning this again. Once you do each once there is no need to do them anymore for that class/job unless you are filling out the guildhest part of the weekly challenge log.
Level 15-30:
-Now you can start doing your low level dungeon roulette for it's one time daily bonus exp. This will be the first thing you do each day, unless you have a class quest to do, then that takes priority. At level 16 you can queue individual dungeons after you've already used the daily low level roulette. While waiting on the dungeon queue, do your hunting log and FATEs, or anything else you want to do such as filling out challenge log. If hunting log and challenge log are already caught up, then just do FATEs around your level, give or take a level or 2, while waiting on queue. If you're a tank or healer you probably won't have to wait long, especially as a tank.
Level 30-50:
-At level 30 you will do your final class quest, then after finishing it you can do your first job quest. But to be able to do this job quest you need to get a specific secondary class to level 15. You should do that before continuing. And keep what I've already said in mind for leveling 1-15, which is very fast and should not take no more than 2 hours, maybe 3. After you do your job quest and unlock your job, just do what was outlined level 15-30. Daily roullette, then individual dungeon queues, while doing FATEs while waiting unless you are not caught up yet with hunting log and challenge log, then do those too. There is something I should point out about quick leveling that I have listed below starting level 44. EDIT: You can also start doing beast tribe quests at level 41, though the amount of experience you get is not worth the time and effort if you're interested in leveling to 50 as quick as possible, but they are worth it for other things. I knew I was forgetting some info in this post, then saw Enkidoh's post after this which reminded me of what it was.
Level 44-50:
-At level 44 you will be able to do the Dzemael Darkhold dungeon. At this point you can choose to join or start a Dzemael Darkhold (referred to as DD) first room grind, which is where instead of doing entire dungeon, you kill all mobs in first room, then repeat. You rack up a lot of experience at a pretty decent rate. Look it up if you want more info on it. Then at level 47 you will unlock Aurum Vale and can do the first room grind there. Many people will do DD first room to level 50 and ignore AV first room, while others switch to it. If you do start first room grinding at 44, you'll have to find others that want to do it for leveling also, or people that simply don't mind helping. Just start a party finder group for it and mention you are new to it, unless of course you are familiar with it because you did it on your main job.
I hope all of this info helped.
are there specific maps that i should go to for leveling for different levels?
Truthfully, that depends on what job type you're trying to level. Tanks and Healing jobs will probably level faster since you can get faster dungeon queues. DPS you'll have to get creative and do things in the meantime while you wait for queues. h0tNstilettos gives very good advice as everyone else here.
Not really, other than as you level the amount of dungeons you can queue for increases, as you can go back and level sync down in a lower level dungeon, but you cannot enter a high level dungeon as a low level (as they have minimum level requirements you have be in order to enter).
Also no one seemed to mention it but another option around level 40 is to do the daily beastmen quests - each beast tribe has a clan of friendly beastmen who will give you a quest (up to three) once every 24 hours. At first you can only do one quest for them a day, but as you earn their trust more quest givers in that tribe will unlock and thus the amount of quests you can do each day also increases. These quests have a slightly different quest icon (instead of an exclamation mark, they have a speech bubble with a 'recycle' symbol).
The beast tribe quests are unlocked by a quest given by the commander of each Grand Company once the required level is met.
Check out this FATE guide for the best areas to go.
If you play alot its easily doable to get to 50 in a week, though because of the daily duty roulettes the more days it takes to level the less total time you'll spend doing it.
oh, i mean the places that have lots of fates, such as coerthas and north than.
FATES are very quick, especially if FATE groups are running. when leveling NInja I could not get a que (it was like a 2 hours wait). If FATES are spawning at a good rate though you far exceed the experience for the same amount of time in a dungeon. It all really depends on the situation you are in though. You of course always do your challenge log (all items that apply) and do your hunting log. just be vigilant and get to every FATE and don't get lazy or it will just take you longer. Level isn't sexy or fun but there is an art to it. Hello Quarrymill for new jobs at 30...that area is going to be sooooo packed.
is there powerlvling in this game?
Not in the strictest sense.
But there are ways to farm exp faster for example: you can get a party, enter dzemael darkhold, clear first room, then exit and rinse and repeat - apparently its insane exp.
How long does it take from 1 to 50? Depends on how often you play really. If you play heaps, I'd say less than a week? That said, you will burn out - I remember bringing drg from 45 to 50 in a day and I was so exhausted at the end.
Also re dungeons, just an advice based on personal experience - it is *great* exp if you have sufficient rested exp bonus but without that, I think FATEs are probably better.
That said, if it is a healer/tank class you are level-ing, maybe it is better to take it slowly so at max level you are at least decent in your job. I have met whm at 50 who doesn't know that shroud of saints regenerates mp.
I don't think hunting log will work. I mean, didn't the new job will come as it is without having base class? And if I remember correctly, hunting log is based on class not job?
You can power level between 1-15 im not sure if its possible at higher levels i've never tried. Basically a high level WHM puts regen on a low level player they arent in a party with. Then they attack mobs which agro the healer, the healer then holy's them to death and the low level player gets all the exp. It gets you to about 15 in 20 - 30 mins.
This is pretty much it. Run fates in between dungeons as well. I like to keep it fresh, alternating doing fates one day and leves the next. If its heals or tanks, and you are 41 or higher, go for SV or better. Use food and fc exp buffs. If you still have some 2.55 or less main story to do, they will be giving out double exp in the new expansion.
I also forgot to mention FATE parties. I didn't really mention it because unless you can actually form a FATE party, just soloing them and doing nothing else is not very good experience. FATEs are only viable if you're in a party, otherwise dungeons are better. That's why I mentioned only soloing FATEs if one happens to be nearby and actually can be soloed as some can't, and doing for challenge log. There was a time when FATE parties was the go to way to level secondary classes, but after they increased the experience gained from dungeons and the low level dungeon roulette, dungeons became more viable with FATEs done between. But strictly FATEs as sole leveling method is still just as good IF you can get a party.
I knew I was forgetting something in my post. >_< I was trying to figure out what it was, and it was beast tribes. Very good point, but just a couple corrections. You are allowed to do 3 beast tribe quests at first, then after going up a reputation level you can do 6 a day. So you would do the 3 highest and the 3 the next tier below the highest 3. Also, the level to unlock each tribe's questline vary. Level 41 for Kobold. Level 42 for Sylph. Level 43 for Amalj'aa. Level 44 for Sahagin. And level 41 for Ixal. The starting quest for Ixal is level 1, but the pre-requisite quest is level 41. I really don't think beast tribes are worth the time and effort if OP is only interested in leveling to 50 as quick as possible, but they are worth it for other things. I edited my original post to mention beast tribes.
