Materia system decipher

Hello. I start this post whut two points in mind. First to try to understand better the incoming materia system, and second to put in the ultra-comprehesive 1.19 notes the most accurate words to describe this awsome system. (rally hope will awsome :p)

So ley me start whit a matter that confuse me a lot. I do my best to undrstand the future materia system. Read oficial post and traduction of Reinheart posts of japanese post of devs and yoshi's...

So... We'll be able to attach till 5 materias on a single piece of equipement... Ithink is almost confirmed this? but will we need put one-by-one (as i think) or all the five materias togheter in one step? Paying more risk?

Btw ther is some in the air still... They say the drops form NM and meaby dungeons (orange and blue tiers) will be able to be attached by materias too... But they say too, a normal item wht materia will be better than Orange and blue tiers pieces. So what do you thnk about this. Will they let us only attach 3 or 4 materias on this kind fo equipment for example?

I remember reading it as you 'Normally' attach materia 1 by 1 (only 1 piece of materia per gear?).

However you can conduct a special 'Forbidden Materia Craft' using a different 'device' to the one used in normal materia addition that allows you to put 5 pieces of materia on. While it goes on 'all at the same time' with one use of the device, you attach each piece individually during the process (think of crafting. Your bar goes up, item complete, then another bar appears to work on the next piece right away until all 5 are on).
If you fail on a single section of the 5-piece materia adding, then you lose your all materia involved in the process, the catalyst and the item (e.g. Bronze Gladius would be 'item'. The 'Melder' is the key item and won't be lost).

I'm pretty sure I read that Ex gear can't be turned into materia and that it also cannot have materia added to it, to keep normal non NM/Raid gear on par with them.

Yep i rad about rare/ex will nit be able to convert to mateia neither attach mTeriaon it. But... I read on japan forum translats the will be. Rare/ex equip will transform on rare/ex materia and they will be able to be attached whit materia. But the yoshi-p intention appareantly is to let normal weapons whit full materia be better than tiers2/3 whit full materia.

About the devce attaching 5 materias at once bt one-by-one and if u fail one step you die!!! Sounds... Good?

Btw i read too about loosing mateia, catalist and equipment too if fail. Agan on japan forums

I encorage you to see the second link of OP: reinheart translations of devs and yoshi rsponses.

The first materia you put into a gear is 100% safe. Only the 2nd-5th materia can fail.
If it failing, then all materia and (maybe) the gear too are away

No worries either, I read Rein's JP translations (and the French translations too! One of the quotes is from there. =) ).

I haven't read or seen this anywhere. I don't read the JP forums (I can't read JP!), so I can't say for sure or not. Based on the info from Reinheart, Perrin_Aybarra, the English Dev responses and the info given on the lodestone that hasn't made any sign nor hint at it, I'm more likely to believe that as rumor until confirmed one way or another by an official source.

If they're trying to make it 'fair' by keeping normal crafter made gear up to the quality and usefulness of the NM/raid gear by allowing it to have materia, it'd seem odd that they'd go ahead and allow materia to be added to NM/raid gear too. The French dev translation quote covers that by saying NM gear won't be able to be 'enhanced', meaning normal materia or this rumored 'ex u/u materia'.

I hate all this guessing, It makes the wait even more painful. Wait a minute, what am i talking about? Let me get in my Delorian and find out what the materia system is like for sure.VVRRRRRRR-POKKAWWW. (going ahead 2 months is kind of a waist of Plutonium.)
