"Failed to join the party."

Hey all, so I keep getting this message lately when trying to join a few specific PF groups. It happens randomly, and is not result of either myself or the party leader having eachother blacklisted.

I'm able to join other parties, and my friends tried and were able to join the party I was getting into.

Any idea on why this is happening and how to avoid it happening in the future?

ilvl may not be as high as the leader set it, or they are looking for specific jobs that you are not, other than that you shouldn't have a problem

You were probably in a party already, without knowing, trying to join PF group.

Guilty of doing this. Previous party ends, all but 1 other leaves, try to join a PF without remembering to leave myself...

This message can also happen if the party slot you were attempting to fill gets filled by someone else before you make the attempt yourself.

Hey all, thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately, all of the factors you've mentioned were already proven to NOT be the issue.

- My ilvl was way above what was required to join the party, and if it were not, the message would be: "You do not meet the requirements to join the party" or something to that effect.

- I was not in another party, as I was able to join OTHER PF groups.

- If the spot got filled (which is did not) it would say "This party is no longer recruiting members."

This is a mystery to me.

This happens a lot to me. Especially for adhoc hunt groups.

Aside from everything already mentioned, the only reason I can think of is that someone already in the party may have a chocobo out, which takes up a slot even if it doesn't show as such in PF.

Would this happen if you were blacklisted by the party leader?

This. Most people who can't join PF groups, on my server at least, are usually people on a party leader/member's blacklist.

Same, but usually fate training with my chocobo and forgetting it's still out when I decide to join a PF....

You have been blacklisted by the party leader who put up the PF.

No. If the PL is blacklisted either by yourself, or if they have you blacklisted, the party is "greayed out" in that you can see it, but do not have the option to click on it. Also, I was able to send tells to the party leader.

As for the Chocobo possibility mentioned, that also wasn't the case, as other people were able to join.

That message only happens at 7/8 and the last spot fills as you're trying to join (Basically, someone beats you to filling the last spot.) I know there's a seperate message if, say, they a re looking for Heals+DPS, and a Healer joins, and you try to join as a healer. Might be what you're hitting?

Another, seperate cause of it is sometimes the PT may have a chocobo summoned filling the last spot. This can prevent people from joining (And likewise, the leader will be pinged telling them to dismiss chocobo iirc.)

Those are really the only two situations I can think of.

There's also the possibility that the leader was adjusting the recruitment details, pulling it out of the PF after you had found it in your search.

This is what I thought, because I know that's happened before and was the case. The weird part is that it happened for a solid 5-10 minutes and the group eventually filled.

If I'm blacklisted, wouldn't I be unable to exchange /tells with the person? I was able to send them tells.

Did they respond to your tells?

Could it be a healer space you are trying to join as a WHM and they want a SCH and you just didn't notice.

I'm not sure it helps, but I've seen that particular error I believe when someone sends out more than 7 invites and I hit accept after the 8th person is in the party.

But you said you saw this in party finder? Weird... I know what you mean when you say "This party is no longer recruiting members", as that is what I see when the party fills and I click too late.

I don't really think blacklisting is it, but I could be wrong. The reason I think not is really, as far as I experienced, blacklisting is just a chat filter for you that blocks the other person. Often the other person has no idea. I think blacklisting would be far more functional if you had some idea when you were blacklisted...

You also get that message if try to join while you're in a battlecraft leve.
